Hmm I initially thought that the styles in this game actually changed the moveset of the weapon. And each style would be a completely different moveset.
Turns out they are all the same, the only difference is the special moves as far as I can tell. One is basic. One charges them faster. One gives you a jump roll. One is good for evading attacks. but the movesets are all the same. I guess I'm really dumb for thinking that the movesets would change.

there are small variations (losing a move or two, a move or two changing, CB will gain or lose a guard point somewhere), basically as a way to keep guild style balanced, but for the most part, they are the same.
And then there's striker insect glaive, which really changes things up for some reason.

How the fuck is this a Wyvern? The whole Elder Dragon I understand because they just clump everything ancient together, but there is literally zero reason not to call this a fucking Fanged Beast, which is obviously what it is.

Does Bushido dodge have a cooldown at all? I started watching gameplay for Cross, at it seems stupidly broken.

That sounds like prime cheese potential. Are the monsters more aggressive to compensate for the super dodge? That sounds a bit hard to believe balance wise, since I heard some weapons get some really good moves after the dodge (free lvl.3 on bow for example).

I kind of want to play the game using HBG once it's out, as opposed to melee like I've played for all other games. Then again I'm not sure how good bowguns are earlygame, and shelling out money for ammo doesn't sound too appealing.
How much of the ethereal or whatever ammo do you get? I like the idea behind it but is it a useful amount or is it pretty negligible?

on the contrary, a completely vertical spirit combo would probably look way cooler than the horizontal one. think of spirit 3 and 4. it would probably be some sort of spinning flip to do 3 fast vertical slices. and spirit 4 would probably be a super uppercut/backflip after you land from spirit 3 that gives you reverse distance.

Was there ever anything wrong with first print runs of MH4U? When I'm playing local multiplayer ill run into disconnects. Its almost always me that disconnects from the group rather than someone else. Hey guys, I recently decided to go back to MH3U because I like the monsters and the feel of MH3 the best. However, I just remembered the WiiU version of MH3u is kinda shitty: bad framerate, awful textures, etc. I tried out the demo for Mh3U on my new 3DS, and it runs much more smoothly and looks nice too.

Lance - My default favorite weapon, but been maining it for so long,, I switched it out in 4u as I felt it made me a worse player always having that shield there. I do love the look for it though, I prefer guard lancing, but mostly because I have a hard-on for riposts. Also done a fair amount of evade lancing
HH - My main weapon in 4u, a lot of fun in groups, but rarely bring it solo.
HBG - Only and favorite ranged, too bad it costs so damn much in early game to use. Not sure on style as when Ive fought Narga, I didnt get attack that much,
GL, Hammer, LBG, Bow, DB - I'll rather use the weapons mentioned above.
GS, Sns - secondary weapons (sns only since 4u) a lot of fun to play, Use it now and then.
SA, CB - Used a lot of SA, but a bad habit of getting greedy, don't care much for the new areal style, but youtube people have been praising it. Didnt use much CB, seems fun and seems to have a nice learning curve.
LS, IG. Don't care much for these.
But damn, shield assualt is so sexy,and enraged guard seems so good.

All I can tell you is to git gud. If every shot connects a rapid volley does well over twice the damage of a single shot of the same ammo type for the same ammo consumption. Even if one or in the case of 4-shot volleys two miss you're getting better damage than non-rapidfire.

Display raw modifier is not relevant to anything but giving retards an idea of how much damage a weapon does per hit relative to other weapons. True raw is the number actually used in damage calculations. Actually they do the same amount with raw shots assuming both fire them normally (ie not rapidfire). Is adept a good style? I can't say I'm finding it very useful in the demo. Especially longsword, where its the only way I can level my spirit gauge without using sakura slash. My problem is a lot of times the monster is moving so much, I can't hit them with that counter attack. Maybe it would be better if it just put me in counter attack mode until I took that action, but it only lasts about a second so I end up missing it most of the time.

How good is aerial? It doesn't seem that great to me. I can easily see it being extremely popular. With greatsword and switchaxe. Hammer doesn't seem to work really well with it. Extract hunter is nice and charges fast. Assuming you're competent with the weapon, it should be fully charged by the time its buff runs out. It does take a while to execute and recover from, so watch out.
Insect clad is a nice damage buff. Apparently it gets stronger the more extracts you have, and its damage is based on your kinsect. It's reach is smaller than an IG's, so sometimes its hits may not connect. Its ticks have a motion value of 5.
The slash is pretty eh. Between the previous two and the absolute evades, you'll rarely use this one. It's about as strong as a lvl 3 greatsword charge(120), and gets up to a 150 motion value buff depending on the level of Insect Clad. Does mount damage, and gets very high vertical range at max level. I've only ever used it to punish Alatreon, the same way you would with GS.

What armor should I use for gunlances in MHX anyway? I was thinking of using the hermitaur variant set, since being able to guard seems like it'd make the bubble last longer, and razor sharp is always good. I mostly use striker and aerial, if that makes a diffference.

Yes
Bows were already pretty good in 4U but now they've added an even stronger power coating, power shot to every bow, and double backhop that gives an instant lvl 3 charge, the Bushido dodge gives an instant lvl 3 charge AND let's you shoot it whenever, more skills that raise the power of power shots and such, and a HA that increases power and charge speed.
It got a great buff when it didn't really need it, and since GS, CB, and IG all got nerfed Bow is now on top.
