So the other day we discussed what Hanzo did to Genji. I believe the final decision was he cut him up with a sword during a fight, ended it with an ult(burns), and threw him off a fucking cliff. Basically. Either way it was pretty brutal. The question is, why did he brutally murder him? We assume Genji was a drunk idiot playboy and that the elders told Hanzo to do it, so he did and immediately regretted it.
We also know Genji didn't want to be a criminal. He says building a dynasty was Hanzo's dream, not his. Was he just a lazy asshole, or a good person who was trying to avoid doing evil?
So here's my theory. I think he was a cheerful nice guy who didn't want to be a criminal, and wasn't an obedient son like Hanzo, and wasn't as good at fighting as his older brother so he decides fuck it, I'm joining Overwatch. Remember Overwatch was on tv all the time saving the world from evil robots. Genji probably grew up knowing about them and thinking they were cool. So he runs off, tries to join, but maybe they don't want a wildcard greenhairedidiot who waves a sword around in the military organization. They also don't trust him because he's from this crime family. So they make him prove it with intelligence. He spies on the family, maybe throws some hidden mics and shit around and starts acting really suspicious. He's bad at it, they find out, and Hanzo has to kill him for it.
If he just dishonoured the family with green hair they might have banished him or something. Death just seems too severe, unless he really did something awful to deserve it. And Overwatch just *happens* to find him before he dies. That means they knew the fight was taking place. Remember it was Mercy who saved him... was she in Japan? They would have had to have known about the fight as it was taking place, so having cameras or something on Point B in Hanamura makes sense. Afterall that's probably where a lot of shady dealings took place, and that's where the fight happened.

For stuff like "I need shields/armor" you have to look at the person who can give you those specific things and press the "I need healing" key. You can actually request a shield bubble from Zarya doing that as well. Things like "Protect the objective" are bound to a key already, just check under your control options

Yes. It's filler if you end up close enough to hit someone since for many heroes animation canceling reloading doesn't lose you any time (it's not faster or slower so 2 actions for the price of 1). It can also be used at any point during Genji's dash so there's no excuse not to use it for an extra 30 damage.

I just got done with a lovely match where we had five Snipers and no Medic. This imbalance needs to be put to rest, and desperate problems such as this call for desperate solutions.
I propose that, if you pick Sniper when there are already at least two on your team and no Medics, Valve will trace your IP and send you to a concentration camp. As Valve's hired muscle drags them into the prison, they'll beg for mercy, saying "I have my rights! You can't do this! I don't want to go to your camp!" The guards will look at them, their eyes void of emotion, and respond simply.
"If you really hated camps, you wouldn't pick Sniper."
Within the camp, the Snipers will be gathered into a giant building, crammed together like sardines. Each of them will be given a computer with TF2, and told to pick a class. If any of them pick Sniper, they'll be picked up by the guard and placed up front, where all the other prisoners can see them. The guard pulls something from behind his back. The prisoners recognize it immediately, as they all use it themselves. It's the Tribalman's Shiv.
The guard strikes the prisoner with it. The blade's serrated edges cut open the prisoner's skin. They strike him again. The guard pulls out Jarate and throws it at the prisoner, letting the broken glass and urine seep into the open wounds.
"Take him to the infirmary," the guard will say. The defiant prisoner is dragged away. The guard turns to the crowd. "Now, which class would be most helpful at the moment?" he asks.
In the infirmary, the prisoners who still picked Sniper lay completely ignored by the world around them. They are not fed, nor given water. If they must go to the bathroom, they will do it in their bed, forced to lie in their own Jarate. With their recent injuries left untreated, the prisoners will soon develop diseases. Their limbs will become gangrenous and require amputation.

Playing well as Genji is fucking intense, man.
First you need to master aiming with shurikens. Spend a while in the practice range learning how to use your shurikens. Seriously this shit is the most important part. You fucking NEED to be able to consistently land those throwing stars, like all the time.
After that it's all about being mobile. Just never stop moving. Use your ridiculous movement abilities to their fullest. Never stop harassing the enemy team, but never let them hit you. Don't fuck up your reflects and use your dashes properly.
Most people just want to be Genji because he's a cyborg ninja, but you only get to be Raiden when your ultimate is up AND the enemy team is occupied. The rest is being the TF2 scout.

I just recently got good with Genji (actually contributing and having fun now) so I can drop some tips:
Most your role is going to be either harassment or clean-up - rarely will you be taking down full-health heroes on the front line. Throw a few M1s with the group to start with, then split off and try to pick off priority targets with your M2+Dash+Melee combo. Try to always be firing shurikens because the sooner you get your ultimate up the sooner you can actually become game-changing. When your dash is on CD, your horizontal movement is very limited, so in fight situations try to make the most out of your verticality by double jumping and banking off walls (which will always give you an extra jump) - people aren't used to having to aim up or turn 180 in 1v1 situations. If you watch pro Genjis play they are always leaping over their opponents, firing shurikens straight down into headshots, and confusing the shit out of them.
Your ult charges pretty fast if you are landing consistent shirukens. With ult, try to sneak around and flank the enemy - scope out priority targets like supports and backline fighters, and then sword in with your ultimate. Try not to take obvious angles or be in LOS of strong frontline fighters like 76/McCree unless you plan to target them almost immediately. Remember that ult recharges your dash and that every kill also refreshes dash. There is also a delay when drawing and sheathing your ult, so plan ahead to be in cover before and after ulting.
As for deflect, pop it as soon as you surprise someone (or they surprise you) in close quarters - this is probably when 76 will launch a rocket or McCree will throw his flash out of reflex. From playing against Genji you probably know that his deflect has both very obvious visual and audio cues.

9 times out of 10, rockets aren't worth it with the ult. Also some lesser known tips is that you can get a bit of vertical mobility with a mini rocket hop on some maps to help you make a few jumps, if you get knocked off a ledge you can sprint to gain forward moment and land back on the ground (this'll probably be patched out if Blizzard sees it being used enough), and his reload animation cancels are the only ones in the game that are objectively faster.

This is such an awful way to balance a game, especially when you feel like you can't rely on your teammates. If there are two Bastions on defense on a point like Hanamura B you need to have the people dedicated to killing them kill both and then you need to get most of the team on the objective within ten seconds (they cannot be in Bastion's LOS before this. Or you will all die. Shit like this makes soloqueue so frustrating. It's also just fucking annoying to have to consistently switch to counterpick characters like Junkrat or McCree when I want to play characters I enjoy.

As I see it, there's two issues with Bastion. One is that he requires teamwork and/or a counterpick to beat, and I'm often already playing a key character so I can't switch to counter him and have to hope that my team can deal with it instead, which is kind of a crapshoot.
The other issue with him is when there's some moron on your team that keeps picking him even though it's not effective. I see it less and less as my MMR climbs, but when I play with a duo or trio queue and it matches us with low rank people to average things out some level 15 or something will often insist on playing the whole match as him.

This happened to me on Hanamura a while back. I'm really unsure of how we could have countered it there, they all set up in the first courtyard and there's no angle there where a Widow or Hanzo could have sniped them, and trying to do something with Pharah or whoever wouldn't work because of 3-4 turrets shooting at any point at the same time.

They've said they're only going to patch things like this that become the de facto normal for characters--as in if you play that character and don't do it you're at a distinct and palpable disadvantage. It's why they didn't patch out the few actually useful animation cancels, or Widowmaker's grapnel-boosted jump despite those all being unintended--useful, but not to the point where it becomes the singular way to operate. Like Widowmaker's scope stuff, which immediately became the way to player her at all skill levels.
The super-jump's are very conditionally useful and also usually mean you're catapulting yourself into enemies. Perhaps they'll make it so a few ledges will stop you if those specific spots are too good, but for the most part they'll allow it, even if merely tacitly by not patching it out.

When Winston jumps in your team is SUPPOSED to follow up, but its a 75% chance they they will sit back and continue taking potshots like morons. Winston isn't about solo killing the enemy (unless its an easy pick off like a solo hanzo) hes more geared toward dealing small amounts of damage to many enemies so your team can go in and clean up. A good Winston uses his shield a key points in the fight which can give him an effective health pool of ~1200 hp. If your Winston isn't in the middle of the enemy being a god damn nuisance he should only be healing.
