A full stack of Crit on a relic doesn't even increase your chance to crit by a full 3%. Which is less than a 1.5% increase in overall efficacy (less than, because you already have a non-zero Crit Rate without it).
In practical terms, on an average 10-11 minute fight, that Crit is basically about as good as two, maybe three extra GCDs worth of whatever damage/healing you do.
Over that same duration, a relic full of Piety will give you about 4k-4.5k MP. Which directly increases your healing by letting you replace Cures with Cure IIs, which indirectly increases your damage by opening up bigger windows where you can DPS instead of healing.
Being able to replace up to 10 Cures with Cure IIs, or opening up opportunities to throw even two or three extra Stone IIIs, is fully on par with what you get by melding Crit.

They seem to ignore people's claims and problems with the job for months and then eventually give it pretty massive buffs. All of which help, but don't really fix the two core issues:
One being that SCH is overpowered.
The other being that N. Sect is underpowered.
With SCH being overpowered, and semblance of "balance" between multiple healers is going to get thrown out the window. SCH is likely to get a nerfed because they completely destroy the meta for any FUTURE healers being admitted in the game, because as it stands right now they're guaranteed a raid spot. They always seem really reluctant to nerf certain classes even when they're way too good relative to their competitors, while other classes get pretty substantial nerfs even if the best they can manage is to get "sort of close, but still worse than" the favored ones.

Aspected benefic is Q, bene is E, bene II is X. Draw is shift+D, redraw shift+E, spread is 8 (an easy button to hit on my mouse) and royal road is shift+spacebar. My dots are 1-3, malefic is 4, gravity 5, malefic II is 6. I can't remember where I put stella, but it's a situational skill so it's not in a priority spot.

WHM and SCH had complaints too and they were never heard, even when a WHM main reporter asked about what was WHM position after the 1st AST buff he just laughed.
AST mp regen after the 1st buff was completely fine and similar to WHM regen rate on ARR (without counting with ewer), but they had to go ahead and buff it again rather than telling ASTs to git gud like 2.0 WHMs had to learn to.
The current skills costing less MP than WHM toolkit for the same potency is unnecessary as AST current MP regen is ridiculous but for some reason they kept it like that. The least they could've done was to lower it to WHM as well, but nope.
SCH so far doesn't have so much to complain as WHMs have since AST isn't a complete ripoff of SCH, but if SCH gets nerfed just to make AST viable you're sure to see a lot of salt (and laughs too, gg dickhead scholars)

They've said in the past that they don't like nerfing classes in the middle of raid cycles or even in the middle of expansions, as it complicates balance even worse. They HAVE nerfed classes before.
Look at: Holy, Lustrate, Graniteskin, Flare, etc. Hell, they've even ALREADY turned down SCH's fairy. They'll nerf shit, but only when they feel most comfortable doing it.
Another problem is community reaction. Can you imagine the SCH community's reaction to getting hit by the nerf bat? One of the most prideful groups of people being served a humble slice of pie. There's no doubt in my mind they want to nerf SCH, but they also don't want to upset people.
Given what Yoshi P has said in recent interviews, all things point to SCH getting nerfs and AST getting buffs, either in 3.4 (when the new raid comes out) or 4.0. Either way, SCH can't be left in its current position, because they've painted themselves in a corner.
If RDM is a healer (which I sincerely doubt), they're not going to have WHM, AST, and RDM compete for the second spot while SCH gets a guaranteed one. The current healer meta makes no sense for the future, and they've finally realized that.

That's because the only real problem with WHM is stuff that isn't even an issue: Mitigation and MP management. They already have the highest DPS potential and the best heals out of any of the three healers; asking for any more doesn't make any sense.
AST MP regen needed help because you needed to cast more and more spells to achieve the same effect as a WHM spell would, so overall their MP management was absolute trash tier. And WHM had JUST been given Assize, another valuable MP tool to help.
Could you imagine AST with 2.0 ARR WHM levels of MP regen competing against 3.0 WHM and 3.0 SCH? No thanks.
If anything, I would argue the reason that WHM doesn't see any attention is because it's the MOST balanced healer right now. It has a job role, and does it really well, without creeping up on what other jobs can do. I think the reason the WHM community feels so left out is because AST keeps getting buffed and SCH is already OP.
WHM doesn't really need anything else. It's a great class and offers a lot to a raid.

I probably worded that wrong, yes AST only had LA to manage for MP after the 1st buff, but at the same time LS lowers mp cost for those needed heal bursts and CO increased LA duration. All that together with the lower mp cost for skills and a occasional ewer would put the current WHM and AST together on the same mp regen (maybe ast a tiny bit better even), rather than have a buff so high that only SCHs that use all of their aetherflow on energy drain can compete.
