looking to buy a new cpu. My understanding is that DCS isn't really multi-threaded and that having less but more powerful cores is most important correct?
>>
>>145537564

Yeah, DCS runs on one core (with audio handled on a second, IIRC)

so single-core performance trumps multiple cores. That's actually true for most games, from what I understand
>>
>>145537564
Correct. Either get a Sandy Bridge and OC at will (i'm 100% serious, those CPUs are the embodiment of futureproof), or get a newer Intel CPU, delid it and replace the fuckawful thermal paste between the heat spreader and the die with Noctua or something. Of you don't need a fucking hammer for deliding it.
>>
>>145537950
>>145538020
thanks, i'm currently looking at Intel's i3-6100. From what i've been reading it seems to have amazing single core performance for the price. Seems like it would do really well with DCS

Just make sure that you can OC it, inform yourself on how to do it if it's possible, and get the "tray" version of that CPU and an aftermaket cooler. Even something really cheap like a Raijintek Aidos or Coolermaster TX3 makes a whole world of difference.

When it comes to headtracking for third worlders:

Shit tier:
smartphone tracking (lol3DOF, might be decent for memegames like El*te or Arm*, but definitely doesn't work if you actually need SA)
facetracking (implying it ever works, implying facetracknoir isn't total shit)

God tier:
Aruco paper marker tracker (accurate as fuck, the only con is that you need a hat and a rigid piece of plastic/cardboard and a hat)

>>
>>145551130

I mean, you can energy fight without boom and zooming, strictly, but it's the easiest and least risky method

Fucking turnfighters, man. Angle fighting is the easiest shit, you don't need to know anything about flying or your airplane to make it work well (Obviously knowing how to yo-yo and your optimal speed for sustained/instantaneous turn rates is good, but you don't NEED that)- you just fucking bank and yank. Meanwhile, energy fighting requires a sound understanding of fighter tactics, the capabilities of your airplane versus the enemy's airplane at different altitudes and starting conditions, and good gunnery to put shots where they'll do something in the split-second opportunities you usually get.

Apparently DGC does provide a dynamic campaign as long as you stick to one map. The airfield capture and transfers keep you busy for a while, just be sure to read the readme because it requires the user to enable a log to keep track of the losses in the campaign. I dont know if it works properly for the pacific theatre though.

>>
>>145594465
If you mean entry entry, then DFGT, but they don't make those anymore. If you mean mid-range then G27, but they don't make those anymore.

The G29/G290 seem to be decent and more or less repackaged G27s but with the DFGT wheel button layout (which I personally prefer). However, the G29, at least last I checked, is a bit overpriced for what it is.

Honestly there isn't a good answer to that question anymore. I'd still say try and find a used G27 as an all encompassing starter wheel that has everything, but those things are getting expensive as fuck priced way beyond what they're worth.

As for G290 vs G29, get the G290 only if you plan on using this wheel with an Xbox One. Otherwise, get the G29 because it has a few more buttons. Both are compatible with PC.

Probably because the LEDs used were different. A single one of my LED require 1.5v to light and I am using USB power, so even if I were to get rid of my resistors and over volt, it would't be very much. Plus over volting will shorten the life of the components. Fk too late now, should I even bother to pull the resistor out?

The table on the sight itself is kinda bullshit IMO, you basically have to have the sight elevated to 25-ish mils to get any kind of accuracy. 0 mils is probably like the thousand-meter zero.
