This is certainly a reason to be mad. The reason that Xcom 2's PC exclusivity was good was so it wouldn't be held back by console limitations. We could have huge areas, large number of enemies, tons more textures loaded at once.

If this was planned from the beginning and wasn't just 2k bugging Firaxis to do it later. It means that the PC version isn't as robust as it could be, still held back by shitty consoles.

Course the opposite could still be true. The console port could be heavily downgraded. They certainly won't be able to handle a large number of enemies at once without the game starting to chug along and it won't look nearly as good and if the port is bad, then Firaxis doesn't take the blame since they are only assisting and it's up to a third party

It could be but you don't know that, its not an uncommon opinion. Its not even that big of a deal, some people liked X1 better then 2. That's fine.

Complexity isn't even a really good measure of something. og x-com is way more complex than both of these games, but alot was unnecessary and didn't make contribute to what made it a great game.

Scanning is about making strategic choices about what you need in a limited amount of time.
With the recent patches you do need to put strategic thought into your scans and contacts otherwise you'll lose to the doomticker
Base management is on par with vanilla EU
Dark Events require strategic thought into what you can't realistically deal with

The airgame and EU strategy layer was no more complex than the xcom2 strategy layer, theres arguments for EW because of MECs, gene mods and Exalt but not EU

There is nothing to remember, I know the fundamental los rules. LoS is wacky, and its unclear often how the game is going interact with terrain/cover. Its no more of a "cheat" then any other mod, like numeric health display. Even x-com has a "no line of fire." message paired with the free fire system.

Now you're just over-reacting. Technically as in it provides you with information that you would otherwise not have, information that's actually very important in situations where it matters.

I've had missions where I've had to adjust my plan to make sure I get into a position to have line of sight on the objective for example (hack terminal on train is a common one). If I had Gotcha, it would have been significantly easier since I could just scan for the optimal position rather than having to play it safe.

At the moment I'm trying to rescue my local files and rebuild the mod. Someone advised me to recalculate the normals for each mesh which ended up turning entire sections invisible. Somehow I fucked my backups as well which adds to the mess.

But that's wrong. Numeric health display doesn't give you any more information than you already know, it just makes it more digestible. The difference is that Gotcha gives you a CONFIRMATION of LoS rather than you having to rely on your assumptions based on experience. It's a cheat, get over it.

I looked around in the .ini file to see if I could make it so that you had an infinite amount, but couldn't find any.

Both, I play with slightly darker blue tinted shadows for extra contrast, lumasharpen to counter the blur caused by FXAA and then just a tiny bit of vibrance. Nothing fancy.

I could probably get the same effects that I use afterwards in photoshop but I'm just too lazy to configure the reshade profile.

He's got all of the footage recorded from the Live and Legendary campaign, he just needs to edit and put everything together. Actual spoilers: 0 soldier losses in the campaign, it's very likely he just steamrolled everything right after mag weapons + advanced grenade launcher and eventually proximity mine shenanigans.

I can understand why he's not uploading though. Everyone's completely over XCOM 2 vanilla, the hype for it has died down. People are interested in seeing modded campaigns now. If or when he decides to upload more episodes from his vanilla campaign, would that many people still be interested in watching now that they've become accustomed to game changing mods? He might have 20 missions in a row of him effortlessly blowing up aliens with grenadiers, would it be entertaining enough to bother uploading? How would you make it exciting when you stomp through everything? Would it be heavily edited down to only show tough missions? I'm not sure how I would handle it myself.

I hope he does finish it though, same with LnI. I've got enough time invested in the series that I want to see their conclusion, especially for LnI.
