I started playing tf2 in the first halloween update, so even then it had 2 years of content, and back then it got new content fairly frequently.
It's just kind of odd playing this, the game barely came out two weeks ago and if I was playing tf2 at this time they'd still have rollers that explode on contact and airblast wouldn't exist.
I don't think the player count is extreme. Even on full 12v12 (or extended) servers, it's only on small maps like turbine or something where it's even an issue. Most other maps are suited for (and were literally deisnged for) 12v12, and while Overwatch is fine, it's a pretty significant change from 6v6 or nothing.
