There most certainly is. We just have to hope that when the Creation Kit is out of beta and F4SE is more refined, we'll have access to those sorts of mods. We already have stuff like playable robots and with the power armor frame, i feel like it won't be long until we see that kinda neat stuff.

Cait would have been a fun companion if selling her "contract" meant you had to train her as a fighter/take her on a tour to different "arenas" around the Commonwealth, from lowly bumfight style back-alley gambling to officiated and grandiose bareknuckle bloodsports in Goodneighbor until finally you attract the attention of a raider town that can be rendered friendly (like Libertalia) in some crazed Thunderdome-esque cage match out on open water.
Even better you'd be pitting her against potentially varied and interesting opponents with their own preferred weapons and "special"/dirty tricks, and there would be constant pressure and bribes from Marowski and Triggermen to throw matches.
