I made a forum post about it nearly a month ago, but I still haven't gotten a reply from GGG nor seen any mention of it being fixed in any patch notes. A few other labyrinth ladder racers posted in that thread, mentioning that something weird was definitely going on with the ladder as well.

I tried to figure out some strong combos, but there isn't much synergy to be found beyond the main 2/3 combos. Leech was the big one for casters.

How do I git gud in this? I ran a map with a pretty huge damage modifier to monsters and it was fine except the area boss literally one-hit me which I didn't expect. You don't need to fucking aim the mines at moving target or miss cause of desyncs.
bladefall with inc aoe(and the witch's aoe nodes) hit like 80% of the screen as it's aoe, so you can actually ofscreen mobs even though the mine was planted on your feet at the centre of the screen.
Traps need enemies to actually step on every single one of them for full effect (or take the saboteur node, but saboteurs are gimped shit vs occultists).
traps have a 2.40 sec cooldown each even with full talents.
Traps need 4 green gems which means you spend an extra 1700 chromatic orbs on your 6l ES chest, as opposed to mines that use 4blue 2 green. Big issue on starter leagues.

Just start spellcaster like everyone else, it's easy to level a melee character once the league is more than 2 weeks in. You also wanna have currency ready for those gg weapons.
Bonus points for using a spellcaster that shares expensive items with your future main.

Why is CA such a no damage piece of shit?
I'm rocking a +3 bow 5-linked with ca+void manip+rapid decay+pierce+lvl4 empower and drillneck and that shit does 11k tooltip dps and 13k with 5 frenzy charges, it's with a lvl 20 CA too
I'm occultist so I get -20% chaos res aura from the ascendancy but thats still horrible damage
Does it not annoy anyone else that Witch is the class that starts with a wand as a weapon, is the closest to the wand clusters, and is thematically the class that would use wands the best but is almost the worst at actually being a wander?
If you're not going CI/LL every class but Templar is better at it than she is. I really wanted to make an Elementalist Wander next league but you essentially throw 6 passive points into the trash for starting with her.

Well, like I said Elemental KB is a bad way to go when you can just scale chaos via the added chaos gem and get more damage even without Obliteration. If I was intending to go Ele KB it might be decent to go Elementalist but I'm not so it's not.
