Real talk, I we got like 3 big groups of major player playstyles on this server that clash hard and I've seen it wear players out and makes them leave disgruntled. I doubt its a problem that will ever get fixed because the definition of "Light RP" varies player to player here and most of those viewpoints are viewed as valid.

It provides very interesting experiences for players but it can also chafe people who don't get exactly what they're looking for. This isn't something I think we can really solve. You should be able to run the fort with <=55 civ dorfs.

Danger rooms were a byproduct of training being worthless. The real problem is we rarely (if ever) get hit by ambushes, sieges are often weak and they seldom come. It wasn't one or the other but the double whammy of difficulty reduction that really shifted it from a struggle for survival to a simulation experience.
I really hope when scenarios and such get added some adv worldgen options are also there to make player run forts get more bullshit than usual.
