Yeah, their buffs aren't too great early on, but they help a ton later.
If you do Gun Trickster though, you can hit hard with a certain combo.

Flavio and Faf will always be on elemental damage, fucking Flavio as a Gunner is amazing damage and got most bases covered in terms of elemental and physical plus his portrait wont be retarded because most shots can be imagined as special arrows. Point Blank>Burst>Shot of choice is generally huge burst damage, especially if you have Double Action
Bert can still do his protector stuff, element walls and Front Guard 10 works at 100% power even when in the back row.

So I wanna do an EO4 playthrough where I use all the guest character portraits, mainly hecause I really do like them even if they are inferior in every way.
I was thinking of using Wufan as the party's main healer and run Kibagami and Whirlwind with vanguard/bushi sub for damage. i'll take a Fortress and a Sniper as the other two characters. Fortress is pretty easy to build and I can just go squall volley for my sniper but my question would be wtf should I focus on wufan? Status or binds?
My first idea was to max squall volley/spotter combo as well as all of snipers binds to cover any necessary binds withh that and just have wufan focus on staus circles but I'm not sure if going full bind on wufan and maxing out divine shot on a sniper might be the better choice. Any suggestions would be appreciated

For Fencer?
Well if you remember the old elemental circles, like what Arianna had, they do those.
Except instead of lowering enemy elemental resistance, they add elemental weapon damage alongside resistance to that element to the whole party.
Unless that only effects basic attacks, you're going to get a chain with up to four hits (nine due to start up and follow up attacks?), which is a massive boost to damage.

They're basically a better Troubadour + Princess.
They buff everyone in the party, can heal with the buffs, and they can give elements to everyone's weapons where Troubadour could only give element to weapons one person at a time.
They can heal and the power of healing increases from taking a buff from you and/or debuff from an enemy.
Thats all I can remember for now, but They're seriously going into my party.

It honestly depends on if you like ailments or elemental damage more.
The passive "if you get a buff, you get some healing" skill you can get right off the bat (I'd suggest popping one or two of your first three points into that shit, and the others into learning at least defense up buff, to minimize the damage you'll take while you're healing), but the skill that's white noble with a shaman name needs some investment.
I hope their stat buff spec has cheer and clearance though.

Resonance was a Fafnir skill in U2 every turn you didn't use it, for up to four turns, it charged its power up.
At charge one it was similar in power to a normal attack skill.
At charge four you could crank out absolutely bullshit amounts of damage.
Granted, fencer doesn't have Faf's Accelerate which let him shit out three 4-charge resonance right after each other (possibly more if you Grimoire'd that one gunner skill I forget the name of), but still that thing can end fights by itself for a good while.

Arcanists recover TP for inflicting binds too iirc.
Bind arcanists are less SP intensive, since you only have 3 main skills to sink points into.
Also, binds will mesh well with a sniper, they have that skill that lets them attack when an enemy gets bound. They also get passives to deal more damage to bouind enemies, and they get that shot that deals a bunch of damage to enemies with more binds.
Even if you don't go the bind route with your sniper, binds will still be useful for ensuring every shot of squall volley hits.

So i'm understanding from this video is that Fencer can go support type where they tank attacks by dodging and having a lot more AGI and can do aoe debuffing.
Then the second type is full attack mode where you can spread out your chains and have all around more sword type attacks.
So basically you can pick support or offensive for your Fencer and adjust to your liking.
Honestly this is a good direction. Subclassing was good but a bit OP, with this you can adjust to what you want in your class and specialize in it.
Consider me excited to see the other specializations for the classes.

The specializations are a little more obvious when you read over the skill listsexcept for warlock I will never figure these fucks out jesusbut it is nice that you can tune your classes to specific roles now, yeah.
Granted, dodge fencer doesn't seem the most useful unless you skip on a dragoon

Only thing I know about dragoon offensively is that they have an All-enemy defense down and they can attack while cloning their last guard skill.
Defensively they seem pretty Hoplite-y with Line Guard rather than Front or Back guard that levels into a solo guard.

Pretty clearly based around cyclical huge damage a la Imperial, except with the skills divided between classes.
Launch buff, proc chases using generic attacks, cancel buff for added element effect, use the post-chase damage skill, wait on the resonance effect recharging and launch another chaser round just as the added effect debuff wears off.
Like a lot of intricate damage output methods it will be prone to getting arm bound on the critical turn.

Yeah getting Arm Bound ruins a lot of strats, but you could bring a warlock for those type of cases where it doesn't matter if they get arm bound and they can just explode shit.

This is why I hated Imperials. Really hyped for these big numbers. Get my man Logre on his first boss fight. Wait for his cooldown. Carefully stack buffs and debuffs. Have two party members basically alive for the purpose of augmenting his output. Logre swings. Logre misses.

This is true, but unless they can head bind you, you can more than likely keep your buffs up. I mean no plan goes perfectly in boss fights unless you're 100% prepared going in and know the boss moves/pattern.
My biggest worry is that with Shaman I could potentially have buffs overlap eachother since we only have the 3 buff limit.

So apparently warlock has a skill called "Quick Chant". Possibly giving them priority in acting?
