Yeah. Watchdogs only seem to work if you're 25-30. Most people seem pretty low level even at Farron Keep.
I wish I had known that when I got to Road of Sacrifices, would've just put off leveling.
I even tried using a dried finger to see if maybe it would get me into Watchdog invasions faster but it didn't work.

I have base vigor it is basically impossible to get the items in lava. So far I have tried:
embered
flash sweat
red stoneplate ring
that purple multires ring
life ring
my best fire armor (antiquated)
best fire shield (dragon crest)
and chugging 11 +6 estus flasks
With all of that I've only been able to reach one out of the 4 items in lava. Is there anything I've missed that would dramatically help? As it is it takes around 3 ticks to kill me so I have to constantly drink and was at 2 left at the closest item (about half to the far one).
So what is the deal with the hollow guy in the cuck cage behind the houses in the settlement? I thought that talking to him as a Mound Maker would get new dialogue but nope.

Sad part is, im liking Dark Souls 2 more. I find myself just sprinting/rolling though the areas in DS3 after dying once or twice.
The bosses are either super easy or so frustrating that they kill my fun for an hour or two after I beat them. However, they are far better than DS2 bosses so far.
No one is explaining shit. I have no real idea who anyone is and how some of the returning ones are still even alive. I just assume Andre is immortal or something. Parts of DS2 seem to be rewrote but others seem to be intact.
It feels like a 7.5/10. The worst Souls game for me, so far at least.

Are there any NPC invasions or some other events at the Aldrich covenant ivasion zone? I don't want to miss any unique loot, but the pvp traffic coupled with the silver knights are a little too much for thorough exploration of the zone.

You can still get the swordgrass from mob drops in Farron Keep, particularly at the Keep Ruins bonfire but the drop rate is low (definitely less than 10% at 207 item discovery).
I don't know why From decided to put a really stringent min/max on territorial covenants, I can get Red Eye Orb invasions and co-op summons all day in Road of Sacrifices/Farron Keep but I can AFK for an hour and I won't get a Watchdog summon.

I'm hoping it really rolls up with scaling, seeing as it's only 20 faith and a +1 talisman but fuck me even the base spear in DaS did more than a gnat's fart.
i cannot find the appeal of these games. they just boil down to two ways of playing.
1) trial and error. build whatever the fuck you want, magic with full plate and a two handed weapon you don't ahve the strength to properly use? whatever. you enter new area, you fight something you haven't fought before and you either die to it, learn its moves before dying or its easy as fuck to kill. there will be occasions where there is something that is just a cheap trick that kills you but it's not a big deal and most of those can be picked up with careful observation.
2) safe as fuck. shield, one handed weapon, a bit of magic and just breeze through the game playing defensively. if you have enough stamina to block and roll consistently you literally cannot die.
anything other method of playing is just making the game arbitrarily more difficult.

You basically need to keep going "up". Eventually you will reach a bonfire thats just before a bridge with 2 dragons. One is a white-ish color the other is red. You need to get high enough to be able to drop down on top of the white dragon. In the room behind it is a mimic that has the SSS.
I managed to get it super early in the game by doing the dancer glitch and while it does seem like a great weapon, i do feel like iv cheated. Also i cant upgrade it for a while thanks to no twinkling, and it only seems marginally better than my starting longsword.

I feel like this definitely applies to the NPC quests too. I don't want the game to hold my hand but fuck me, some of the NPC/Covenant encounters (looking at you mound makers) are pretty fucking vague or they expect you to go back to a previous area for no reason.
In DaS2 and BB the NPCs could be found along the way as you progress and I don't recall ever having to backtrack (eileen the crow in BB but she explicitly says where she is going when you meet) whereas in DaS3 it seems like you have to deliberately go out of your way and jump through flaming hoops just to see them again and continue their story

Hey guys, the game has had a few days plus the weeks before US release. I have a few questions.
I'm doing a quality build that will possibly be dex leaning in the end and I'm not really enjoying any weapons so far for any sort of PVP. Ive been doing Mound Maker invasions and none of the weapons I use in PVE (Broadsword and Pontiff Curved Sword) are doing me well against other players.
I beat icemace dogknight and giant tree so far. I was thinking about making the spear or the two handed sword from the tree soul but beyond that i'm at a loss.
Does anyone have advice on a good solid weapon when it comes to strength and reach for PVP?

What are you trying to accomplish with your build? Do you want to be a caster, or do you want to be a melee character with sorcery buffs?
If you want to focus heavily on spells, then I would stop leveling DEX and focus on your VIG, ATT, and INT. 20 DEX + Sage's Ring will allow you to reach maximum casting speed, so there's no reason to level it further unless you want to use a weapon that requires even more DEX.
If you want to focus on weapons + buffs, then just get the requirements for Great Magic Weapon (I think it requires 22 INT.) and focus on leveling VIG, DEX, and maybe a little ATT so you have enough slots for the buffs you want to use. You could use Crystal Magic Weapon if you want, but that spells is barely more powerful than GMW-- plus it requires about 30 INT. It's not worth it.

Most sorcery buffs require 15-18 INT. The ones that don't require 22 and 30 INT respectively. (I'm referring to Great Magic Weapon and Crystal Magic Weapon.)
So, if you're just looking to mostly focus on your weapons, but have INT buffs around, then consider leaving INT at 22 or 30 and then pumping up your DEX and VIG. Buffs aren't really costly FP-wise, so you can leave ATT at 18 and have three spell slots available. As for your END and VIT, level those if/when you feel you need them.

It's not a difficulty spike, DSP has just never been good at these games. He makes no effort to mix up his playstyle or try something new. He just walks into bosses over and over again until stars align and he comes out on top.

This is my first soul game.
I decided to do a strength build because I like heavy hitting weapons.
Went with the large club, infused it with a heavy gem too to improve the scaling.
It hits hard but I feel so fucking unsafe with it in both PVP and PVE (despite having a shield) compared to swords with fast swings or any dex weapon with agile movesets.
Is this just a matter of gitting gud or is the large club not that great?

Yes, and I love the moveset but:
>#1 Having one on each hand lets you stop dual wielding when facing harder mobs so you can parry/riposte
>#2 Having another allows you to make a fire/magic/blessed one for passive offhand healing or damage bonuses
>#3 Also I did this in Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2, I got one caestus of every upgrade path. I am sure I can buy another later, but for now to be equipped so I don't get facerolled by harder enemies I need parrying ability for partial parry false blocks and that differing damage.

Ok, I'm trying to put together a list of all the cryptically hidden shit in the game. Hidden gestures, NPC questlines, and the like. So far I've found the following things that are hidden rather well:
Sleep gesture (Talk to Siegward after he goes to sleep, immediately after giving you the Toast gesture)
By My Sword gesture (summon Black Hand Gotthard for the Abysswatcher fight, he teaches it to you)
My Thanks gesture (get invaded by Knight Slayer Tsorig and let him kill you.It's Warcry from 2.)
Questlines are a bit harder.
Siegward:
Meet in settlement, kill the demon
Talk to him in the well in Cathedral of the Deep
Buy his armor from Patches and give it to him
Free him from Irithyl Dungeon
Talk to him in Irithyl
Then he'll appear at Yhorm
Greirat:
Free him in the High Wall
Give Loretta's Bone to him
When he asks to be sent out thieving, say yes, but don't tell patches
The second time, send him only after freeing Siegward. Don't tell Patches
The third time, tell Patches and pray
Sirris:
Meet her in Firelink
Talk to her a second time in Firelink
Defeat the dog on the Irithyl bridge, then examine her summon sign
Examine her sign again in the Cursed Greatwood boss room
Throughout all of this, do not join Rosaria's Fingers

pretty much anything you like as long as you have something on each body part, that way you get the full flat defense and "better" armor only increases defense by a few percentages
Heavy infusion is too good. Why go quality for marginally better AR when you can go str and pump vit to fast roll while wielding a ton of different weapons.

just make sure you don't roll away or you'll get tagged by the gap closing mega range attack, or roll in or you'll get tagged by the enemys rapid fire attack when your roll ends, or roll sideways or youll get hit by the enemys horizontal backswing
in fact dont roll at all, just tank that shit and drink estus in between emptying your stamina, thats how you win in dark souls 3
