Warrior, easily warrior. The axe you start with has hyper armor on the charged attack if you use the special to increase your damage. You can poise break the majority of the enemies in the early game, including lothric knights.

I'm going to build a FAI/LCK hybrid character, but I'm unsure as to whether or not I should meet the base requirements for the Red Hilted Halberd (14/14) or just keep STR at base and up DEX to 12 for the Estoc. I'd like to have two Hollow-infused weapons so I can get a free +10 Luck, which will save me a lot of levels. The most common scenario I have encountered is 1v2 and it's still very winnable.
You start out with more estus than phantoms/blueberries and each one killed recharges it a bit for you.
Also you could never get a full red orb earlier in any other souls game, which many people seem to overlook.

Today, I've had more cases of spawning so far from the host that they have enough time to run all the way back to the bonfire and summon their first phantom, rather than invading into a phantom squad. I hate every map's invader spawn locations right now. Anor Londo is the least awful, but it can still be pretty bad. You mean health? Yea, this isn't Demon's Souls anymore, you can't just skip health because you're that good. Most bosses have 270-360 degree damage radius. Aldrich will straight up one shot your ass with rain of arrows.
The basic rule of thumb is get the str/dex you need for the weapon you want to use, then spend the rest of your points on health and stamina until you reach the abyss watchers.
After that you can start branching off into int or whatever you want to hybrid your build with.

So my Irithyll Straight sword has 138+23 161)physical attack power (total: 161) vs my Crystal Sage's Rapier which has 55+4 physical and 82+38 magical (Total: 179)
When testing them on an enemy, the straight sword deals significantly more damage than the rapier even though the total attack power of the rapier is higher.
Am I not understanding the mechanics of this or something? The only thing i can think of is that the slug i was hitting has magic resistance or something.

As someone who adores the light crossbow for both its utility and aesthetic value, I'm curious as to how I can get the best value out of it. I have the ring that boosts my weapon damage by 10% when at full health so right now at +7 it deals 246 damage. It's not a massive amount, about half that of my +7 broadsword, but it's sustained damage.
My only problem right now is that I can only find wooden bolts. I have no supply of standard bolts and I can't find any means of acquiring elemental bolts. I want to go full dex with the light crossbow, fallen knight set, and tricky shininigans with black firebombs, and the manikin claws that have been infused with poison on top of the bleed. How viable is bleed and poison if I stack luck? Is there a better looking crossbow then the light crossbow? As of right now my weight is at 68% and I don't even like the big one because it looks ugly as sin.

I had something like this happen with DaS, it was a video codec problem. Playing the intro video would crash the game. Might be the same thing with your DaS3. What I did I renamed the video files so the game wouldn't find them. For DaS3 they're in:

As for flynns ring and 53% encumbrance why not sacrifice that ring, wear the weight ring then wear better armor up to like 69% weight since you will move same speed? You can beat the first one on the ledge if you just give him the Old Iron King treatment, let him swipe, dodge and get a hit in. If he raises his right hand (the left from your perspective) panic because it has bullshit hitboxes, he also attacks twice with that hand, so dodge it.
The second giant just stay between his legs and try to keep slightly behind him, best to use a shield too. If anything the goo things are the real problem.

The first giant can be beaten by staying to the right side of the square box area on the ledge, and baiting his left arm smash, dodge left when he does this.
It's harder to dodge his other sides attack.

Anybody else think miracles need to be adjusted? I'm doing my 2nd playthrough a co-op playthrough making a sunbro. and my buddy is making a sorc. By the time I got lightning spear, I find out it costs 4 times the fp for the same. exact. damage. as a single 7fp soul arrow. Even though its gimmick seems to be shotgun effect (lolwut? since when is lightning bolts a close range shotgun, its always been a long range snipe) it does double damage. if you can manage to do it with these infinite stamina spinning blender bukkake enemies. Which still makes it only half as good as the most basic soul arrow.

I don't think mashing r1 should be the answer to everything. But for example, the snake abyss monsters, half the time you have no clue what they're doing because their design is a mess and then you're suddenly one-shot because they seemingly have no recovery frames.
Then there's the peasant-type enemies who can literally attack until the cows fly on home, because they have no actual limitation on the amount of swings they can do, and if you interrupt them, they'll instantly start swinging again.
It just comes across as a fault in the game, rather than a designed idea.

sorry anon, miracles are shit this time around. Pyro and sorceries seem to be alright. At least speaking in terms of damage, fp cost, usefulness in pve. More importantly this is basically melee souls. offensive spells got nerfed to the extreme with this one. Miyazaki was all excited to get back to souls with the fantasy setting, proper magic stuff and wanted to make a bunch of new spells that didnt take the typical form of lightning spear, soul arrows, fireballs etc. But barely any spells were added, and seems like the focus was entirely on melee and weapon arts and yeah. Melee builds are extremely good.

Fights against lategame hosts take too fucking long
I have to damage someone through 15 goddamn estus, where each flask is essentially a full-heal. I haven't had a single successful invasion take less than 15 minutes yet. Usually, when they realize they aren't good enough to kill me even with 15 tries, they just turn and start running through the level, refusing to fight back while they look for summon signs. Lloy'd are worthless because the last like 20 seconds. Everybody I've hit with one has just played passively and turtled it out. Like every other souls game, passively backpedalling and rollspamming away from anything vaguely threatening is obscenely safe and virtually unpunishable.
I switched to being a purple after an hour of Lothric Castle invasions. It's just less time consuming when you can hunt phantoms who only have 6 or 7 estus. Even 3v1 my success rate is higher and fights are shorter than trying to kill hosts.

Iron flesh works well with quickstep daggers. The art ignores the iron flesh penalty so you can still dodge with no problem while also being an unstaggerable, nigh-invincible juggernaut. Useful for obnoxious shit like thrall ambushes or the deacons.
Carthus Beacon is also good for fast, spammy weapons like daggers, curved swords, etc.
It gives you a large AR bonus after you hit something like ~3 times and stays as long as you manage to hit something every few seconds. The more you attack, the longer the bonus lasts before going away.

Nah, there's a weapon dedicated to the stat and there is also an infusion that makes weapons scale with it. Also, when you have max hollowing, you get +5 points to your Luck stat without raising your SL. It's basically the twink stat. Unfortunately, the bleed/poison buildup doesn't really get drastically better with high Luck, so that's pretty much all it has going for it.
At the very least, it pairs well with FAI for people who like stacking regeneration.

Try the buckler. I don't know if it has just been a while for me, but I am having trouble parrying with med shields and doing setup parries and stuff.
