i don't discuss hacking techniques on publicly routed net-based architectures (at least not without my own custom designed firewall matrix, FireMatrix™)
the proxy servers seem fine... at least for now... so i guess i can divulge a BIT of information.
first, always set your network aliasing in accordance with the phase offset produced by whichever proxies you decide to run (in parallel, obviously).
second, always bounce your connection between IP addresses located on servers in different parts of the world. anyone who's played uplink - the most realistic hacking experience you'll ever encounter - will know this. you'll need a list of IPs to do this, however. i have a few lying around, but it's the hacker's responsibility to acquire his own. i'm sure you understand.
third, proxies (remember: in parallel ALWAYS)
fourth, ethernet packet overflow mitigation. it gets... complex, but basically all you need to know is how to achieve isolated input/output signals from your modem farm. i'll give you a hint even the script kiddies'll run with: "secure" peer4peer connections aren't secure at all (look for the patterns)
fifth,no system is safe.

This sounds like you downloaded the vanilla PPSSPP and not the .zip file version with the workaround cheat that keeps it from crashing. The mediafire link has the workaround built-in, you have to manually add it otherwise.
To check if you have it enabled, hit ESC while playing and go to "cheats". You should see "Hang Workaround" checked. Leave "Hang Workaround [Disable]" Unchecked.
If you've already done that, then try changing from opengl to Direct3D9 under "Backend" in graphics settings.

This was the whole issue with why we couldn't do this years ago. Thanks to Lunamoo at the PPSSPP forums for figuring it out a few months back.
You can copy the ppsspp.ini and controls.ini files if you have already customized your controls.
The .zip file I provided contains a 148% save file, Human Plus, and the workaround. It should also automatically connect you to a third party serve (if your allow it) to play online, but I think the servers are down right now. I'm figuring out how to get them to work.

You've pretty much nailed it. Last Raven, V, and Verdict Day are the only games where the ACs consistently explode. In every other game they kneel, though I think some games have a few exceptions for ACs that you flat out kill instead of disable.

Large missile spam might've done it. At the very least it would've been funny, but it wasn't going to happen without four players talking to each other.
They were all weak to Streks and Podenkas with no CE shields to stop any of it.
One player with a CIWS shuts off all their high speed missiles. I did that in a couple of the rounds and it improved our lifespan by minutes.
If we had a good tank, laser cannons or sniper cannons were good picks to deal with them even with the shields. The tank would need someone with CIWS to keep them safe.
Plasma could do the trick if it had any range and muzzle velocity. Getting close enough mitigates that, but that's a lot of pain to take just to make four shots and bottom out.
In hindsight, CIWS with TE shield could've stalled them out the first few games. Wouldn't done a lot against the homo sniper in the last match, though.

I think it was because of the company merger. He was a Mirage-frame AC before, but in Last Raven Mirage merges with crest to become Alliance, so he now has access to the 89E core for his frame too.

You can play online as long as everyone playing is in a VPN/server together. That means using Hamachi or having someone run a dedicated ad-hoc server (like coldbird).
There's a hamachi guide on the AC reddit, but I would rather not use that, myself.
