I don't like steam group at all but they must be doing at least something right since a lot of the regulars have migrated there. It's a bit of a snowball effect, though.
In the past we had enough on-topic stuff going around thanks to the wide berth of regulars. And most shitposts would be overwhelmed by those on topic posts. Hell, you could do a "Post X" and immediately bury some shitposting with it since it would distract people.
It's the combination of disillusionment/getting tired of the game along with the steam group that has caused the shitposting to be so prominent in comparison. I would argue that more than a few people probably browsed /aa2g/ for as long as they did purely for social reasons and not solely the game, but they would still post screenshots of the latter to maintain a sort of respectable quality about themselves and to also keep the thread relatively on track. With steam group, you don't really need to browse here if you want that social connecion specifically with the people here.

I thought about joining since I do actually enjoy some of the interactions here and would like to have that social connection without the shitposting, but, overall, from the screenshots I've seen posted of the chat, to the front page discussions and postings on the group--I can't help but dislike pretty much all of their chats. I would if someone took it from me. Same with highlighter. With hardlinker whenever there's a new outfit released I simply add 2 lines to the .bat and if needed add another folder in textures\. There's also an option to make an AA2Install plugin that will automate it but I still haven't looked into it.

AA2 is a non-game sandbox that lives completely off its mod community. Vanilla AA2 is horrible with its low amount of content.
KISS gives you gameplay but that gameplay is far too grindy and while it contains a lot of assets and DLC the quality is usually not always very high. The best thing about CM3D2 are the faces and the poser for autism.

The face design is not that different from AA2 (DDH in particular) imo. Pretty much just a regular anime face #82354124.
The only problems with aa2 faces I see are ugly chins and no ear/nose sliders or variants. And the way they implemented the faces so that we have shitloads of basically the same faces in our limited 255 slots is retarded.

The only thing better are the noses, really. The mesh and texture quality though are much worse. And you can't even properly customize them that thoroughly. It's probably one of the main areas besides boobs where AA2 totally has it beat in terms of customization.

CM3D2 has better poses, but AA2 has far better animations, which are probably the best in 3D eroge at the moment. That being said of course there's room for improvement, but the competition out there is much, much worse.

I don't disagree but the fact is is that the base shapes of the eyes, eyelashes, and general face structure are basically the same in the modded faces as they are in the vanilla ones.
Even the Face 9 is just a modified Face 2. Where Cm3D2 has Aa2 beat in regards to eye shapes is probably in the vertical eye department. AA2 only has Face 1 that is decent at large vertical eyes.
Vanilla faces for AA2 really did have some awful design choices like the terribly high ear position which meshed horribly with the terribly low nose position. Thank god for face modders.
