>What is this?
A general for all strategic, operational, and tactical war games that can't generate enough traffic to sustain their own generals. ARMA need not apply.

T34-85Ms are in game because the Warsaw Pact held onto them for so long in their 2nd/3rd line units, this doesn't mean USSR needs a bunch of fucking useless 1950s protos.

How did the split happen anyway? Making 2 threads for ded genres doesnt seem like a good idea.

Whenever flight Sims got posted for more than 2 consecutive posts, they would be spammed with anti planefag shitposting and told to fuck off
they finally decided to fuck off and now our BMPs are running out since we have no air cover

A few autists kept shitposting telling them to fuck-off, probably falseflagging.

Does anyone know information about what a Soviet Unified Army Corps was structured / what it was supposed to do? I keep seeing references to it being based on brigades and Ralph Peters mentions one in Red Army but I'm not so sure what makes it better/different than your standard Motor Rifle or Tank Div.
>>137106721
I don't know anything about how it might be structured (perhaps the one in Red Army was just made up) but the advantages I suppose would be that it's much more flexible than a formation made up of divisions. Divisions are powerful but they're also pretty unwieldy and trying to make rapid exploitation maneuvers with them would be a logistical nightmare. Brigades would essentially function as mini-divisions; this way the support assets are closer to where they are needed and a brigade commander can have division-level support assets at his disposal to use as he sees fit.
Like I said though, I'm not sure if this is actually something the Soviets did; everything I described above is very "NATO-like" in philosophy. Such a structure gives brigade commanders a lot of autonomy, and that's not something the Soviets were particularly fond of.
In terms of structure, where a MR division consists of:
-MR Regiment
-MR Regiment
-MR Regiment
-Tank Regiment
-Support assets
a brigade might just consist of
-MR Regiment
-Tank Regiment
-Support assets
or something similar

I got into wargames back when I was like 10 years old. A shitty MS-DOS game which pretty much was "move from city A to city B" instead of a hex map did the trick. Eventually dropped it and the genre during a couple of years, until /gsg/ and HoI3 revived my autism.
The game in the screenshot isnt the same game but it looked pretty much like it.

None of those options. The map didnt contain the Iberian peninsula nor Italy and the east side of the map ended on Moscow, I belive. UI on the right side, vertical. Bongs had an infantry doomstack around Calais iirc, and for some reason there was a strait to basically walk to europe. It was also the game which made me hate the Ride of the Valkyries song because it was played almost on loop. Thats all I remember.
It probably was a ripoff from some popular game. Oh man, the nostalgia.

>>137106721
Well, no-one's stepped up so I might as well try answer this.
Soviet Army Corps were made up of two divisions, either Motor-Rifle or Tank.
They weren't very common in the Cold War period because post-WWII divisions could field far more firepower than their WWII counterparts and Army commanders gained the means to better control all their divisions without having to divide them into Corps - so they were largely dropped as an intermediate formation. However, they were still used where a division was too small and an Army too large for a given task.
Corps were more common in the Air Defence (3-4x SAM Brigades iirc) and Strategic Rocket Forces, but I don't know too much about those types.

Honestly dont even bother making the thread again when it dies. Just accept it
there's a Red Dragon 1v1 tournament coming up, hosted by Selkares from [LVA]. Some of you may know him from his ALB tutorial videos.
It's open to everyone and will begin on the 16th. Be aware that the rules are in French, but they shouldn't be hard to translate.
There's one special rule though: you're only allowed two cards of planes, neither of the same role. Otherwise it's 1.5k start low income conquest, designed to be reminiscent of EE.
Sadly I don't think there'll be any prizes.
