I have a problem with "just roll with it".
If you've put an actual decisive contradiction in your testimony and then the defense finds a minor one and you don't shut it down, it can easily lead to hours of bullshit arguing between the defense and the prosecution. Such contradictions are usually shit like "you shouldn't have been able to get there quite that quickly" "you should/shouldn't have seen this minor detail because I say so" "I'm not sure x action should have produced y response". It's all weak conjecture that could threaten to undermine a much more significant contradiction.
Also, often when you try and roll with weak contradictions the prosecution gets butt-furious you didn't let them argue for an hour about it.
Really the actual key is making your planned contradiction very clear and decisive. It can be hidden behind a press, but it should be at lease a somewhat obvious question. You should also give up key details without waiting for incredibly specific questions, eg:
Say your contradiction is that the knife was still sticking out of the victim, while it was actually found elsewhere. You should give up that info on:
"Describe the crime scene for us."
You shouldn't wait for:
"Did you see the murder weapon?"
This is a very clear contradiction of the evidence. It's not "the witness didn't notice the murderer's shoelaces were undone", or even worse "why weren't X's fingerprints found on this" that can just be hand-waved away.

I can in theory make it over 1000. And to make it less speed based and add some of the luck factor, make it so that there are ten "golden areas" and there will be only one between each hundred. For example, there will be only one golden area between 200 and 300. If you find one at 258, that means you won't find any others at 200-257 and 259-300, so you would go to the next set
