FyberOptic ported the modloader "Meddle" to 1.9 snapshots.

The point is to add gameplay that isn't just "connect power cords to everything, upgrade to the next tier when needed". When you want to move more than 4096 energy into or out of something, you need more connectors. This is why the arc furnace has 3 attachment points for wire connectors.

It's for consolidating transfers over a distance. You might need 5 connectors to pull out of a wire the power you need, but you don't need to run 5 wires the whole distance.

After a week of mucking round, mining and village fixing I've found the perfect are for my witchery alter.
Two villages near by, one big one I fixed up and a walled village.

There are cool new mods, sort-of. Psi and Intangible for 1.8.9 are cool if you like magic mods (intangible is grindy as shit though). Immersive Engineering has a fuckload of new content.

The most important mod to come out was Chisels & Bits, which is an actually useable microblock implementation. It's really fun to build with. 1.8.9 only so far. Give it a try.

Exotic Birds came out and at the same time we realized Project Zulu is good. So, we now have *actually good* animal mods and we don't have to get Mo Creatures.

Oh, also, HelperTools. It was out 6 months ago but you might not have heard of it.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to keep the TFC server in online mode for the time being until I can find an easy way to convert the online saves to offline versions.

Seed is: 4, on Biomes O'Plenty mode
Gridnfinity Bloatvolved with no changes, but I'm sure the seed will work fine on any BoP world/modpack with it.

Nope. You'd think that would be the first thing modded out but apparently people like tedious maintenance of a stat using materials that are braindead easy to find.

Personally I don't care, since there are mods that play around with it and that add actual difficult content to the game relating to it. I don't think the old "eat for health" system would work with the way the game functions now.

The waterwheel is from Additional Buildcraft Objects, while the higher windmill is an IC2 Kinetic Wind Generator with an iron rotor. There is some issue with the fade distance of it, though.

The waterwheel works by either pouring water from the top, or having it fall away from the bottom. I went with the bottom because it looks nicer and you can control which way it rotates by the slope of the water.

Ok I think I got what I want here. What I ended up doing is making all normal ore gen much smaller and sparser, but still common enough to make caving fruitful. I then added medium sized lodes every so often. They're not big enough that one will last you forever though.
I also did special structures for coal and diamonds which make them more rare in general, but more plentiful.
For TE ores I just made small nodes that were more frequent, and didn't bother with cavegen. Other mods ores I left alone

Mojang thought about a mod API until they became a big company with legal responsibilities. They can't let third-party code run on peoples computers. A client-side Java mod API was never going to happen, and it's never going to happen.

They might release a server-side API eventually since companies like Hypixel are one of the few things keeping vanilla alive.

To clarify: LexManos gets a small bit of ad revenue from each Forge download via the main site, and possibly CurseForge via a deal - however, this is not the case for other launchers. Curse gets money from their own site, which will probably stay relevant no matter which modded version we're on and will have activity as long as mods keep updating. Slowpoke's money also comes from downloads and merchandise, both are not very affected by Minecraft versions.

All switching to a new version does is cause an initial storm of updates as mods try to fix themselves to work, but then that doesn't make a huge difference as most people wait for the Un-Unstable pack.

I think the sole existence of fan modding APIs is why there hasn't been an official one yet, like think about it, why bother making an official one when the fanmade api mostly works and keeps people happy. Psi instantly makes it clear that it's Vazkii's mod. No style, no integration into MC world, just sitting by the ugly magic block for 2 days until i finally am able to explode the world and quit. The idea behind the mod is pretty much PSone Carnage Heart robot programming but magic and boring.

C&B i've actually noticed somewhere right after posting the question and it seems great
