>What is Pokken Tournament?
Pokken Tournament is a game made by Namco Bandai that is a blend of Tekken and action-fighting games like the Naruto Shippuden series made by the same developer.
>So what are the basics?
You have three basic attack buttons: Weak, Strong, and Pokemon Attack.
Using certain button combinations you can use Counter Attacks or Grabs which can counter attack moves or grab a blocking/shielding opponent respectively.
These form a triangle:
Counters beat Basic Attacks, Grabs beat Counters, and Basic Attacks beat Grabs. Guarding protects against everything but grabs, but certain attacks will do a small amount of damage even through guard.
In Field Mode your weak attacks are typically projectiles and strong attacks are typically melee attacks that track/home. In Duel Mode, weak attacks and strong attacks are both typically melee and not tracking.

Field Mode is the initial stage of combat where you may move your pokemon freely, and Duel Mode is the second stage of combat that is more akin to other fighting games where you fight on a 2D playing field. Doing enough damage, using certain attacks, or grabbing your opponent will shift play between these different combat stages.

After completing the initial menu tutorial and picking a partner pokemon, pick Online Battle from the main menu / world map.
VS codes are basically passwords.

I keep hearing there's some lag in this, but is that game mechanics, most using a wireless controller, and/or people being bad? I don't feel that much lag at all, though it is different than what I'm used it. I also play Pika Libre if that helps.

Okay I have found a way to make the League Matches less grindy.
After the 5 battles you rank will be set to 1 higher then the one closest to 1st in the group of 5.
Keep selecting League match to generate a set of 5 and see what the rank closes to 1st is.
Drop out before doing any battles and go back into the league match to generate a new 5.
Keep doing it until You can get as closest to 1st as possible.
Then battle as normal.
Like for example some generation of 5 only have people 10 places above me, others are about 20.

You can dig>jump into earthquake since it's usually enough to scare people into getting hit, if you don't want to risk getting crit by a counter when you dig>cancel>grab.
Also holding Up A while in duel phase will send you into an unexpected dig you can cancel out of as well.
You can effectively do 5 different moves out of an Up A in duel phase. Plus it hits for more than a synergy burst if you used Victini for the free crits on Up A.

I don't know how reliable it is in a match, but (forgive my absolutely shitty notation, I don't know if I should use the number inputs) I found you can Y. Y. A>. for a free Hypnosis. Not sure if they can break it or not, but Very Hard training CPU hasn't broken the Hypnosis so far,
If the enemy has you up against the wall, you can go Y. Y. A>. (reverse inputs) Y>. X>. A^.
It does 156 damage after the wall crash.
Still seeing what I can get without the wall. At neutral, I can do Y. Y. A>. (reverse inputs) Y>. X>. Xv. X.v. Normally, that does 130, but if it carries them to the wall, it'll do 160.
Is there any use for his Charge Strong Attack? It can be canceled with Shadow Stealth and Jump, but I can't find anything off it.

Charizard's some weird mid-range zoner that changes into a completely different brawler during the dual phase, and has an additional flight stance which i'm pretty sure doesn't have a single useful utility.
Sceptile suppose to be a fast character but he feels kinda slow and the projectiles aren't that great compared to other characters (especially fast types like Weavile)
Suicune turns into a completely different fighter given the phases and I can't arsed to rewire my brain after every shift combo. My issue with her is essentially the same as Charizard's to a lesser extent.

Machamp's Wake Up slap seems like it would be such a fun move to be braindead with if you could get away with it, but the recovery frames aren't that great after using it, so you kinda have yo use your brain with it.
If there was an effect that would push Machamp's hitbox up on top of the slap instead of behind it, so you can slap over projectiles on reaction instead of preemptively, that would be so dope.
I've been trying to catch people against the wall with it but nobody seems to wanna jump next to you on their wake up, so I just eat shit for it.
