You ever played dota2? It's like the matchmaking system there. You get given a starting MMR then gain/lose MMR with each win. Being in different MMR brackets hard locks who you're matched with, so for example if your 16xx, then you wont get matched with 17xx players, only other 16xx players. Even if you're 1699, you'll still only be matched with other 16xx players.

Honestly, I found this new Splatfest matchmaking to be particularly more enjoyable for me. I might have just gotten lucky but I estimate that I've won around 80% of my games, and achieved royalty on just over 1700 points and in way less time than it usually takes. I'm also sitting in the Top 100 still somehow.
Overall, I found it funner playing with people around my own skill level in TW for a change while also not feeling remorse for crushing and spawn camping any poor squibs.

A good Turf Wars strat is to take an important section of the map, find a good camping spot, and ambush/surprise anyone that tries to enter, right? I was running around and trying to ink everything. Probably overextended.
