Maybe its because the jJapanese saw the air as they saw the water, a fish coursing through the water is VERY similar to a plane flying through the air. They saw fish and thought that they were very good aerodynamic designs. So they designed their planes after them. I'm not sure but I think this is probably what happened. This game's meta in RB prioritizes climbing first, then energy retention in maneuvers, then dive speed. Flown well, any of these planes can beat any of the others flown by a worse pilot, but quite frankly framed in the meta of WT I'd say the Spit wins.

A-4 and Typhoon climb at almost the same rate, they both have pretty good climb at low alt and mediocre as alt increases.
The Mk. IX should significantly out turn a G-2, or at least it certainly used to. Was the flight model 'fixed'?
The Typhoon turns significantly better than the 190 A-4 with combat flaps.
the G-2 might be better in the vertical, but the Mk. IX is definitely better in the horizontal.
The A-4 and Typhoon are definitely about on par in energy retention, and I do admit the G-2 is a better diver than the Mk. IX. But it's not by much. The G-2 will be close to the rip point at 760 km/h, while IIRC the Mk. IX hits that at 700, but you can push it a bit further if you're careful.
The Typhoon doesn't actually outdive the A-4. The A-4 and Typhoon can both push past 800 km/h in a dive, but I believe the A-4 has a slightly higher speed limit.also it makes me extremely happy to be actually talking about the game here, holy shit
