In fact I posted this right after looking at a video of the best moments in MGS and the guy talked about it like one the hardest and most rewarding boss battles in any game. I had more fun playing against the pain or the boss.
As for the cat and mouse, I just put on the heat tracking goggles and followed his footprints. I don't think I had to backtrack or search in more than one area before finding him.

I think the biggest issue (that would solve a lot of people's complaints) is the game needs to be harder. It's just way too fucking easy. Which means you don't even have to use a grand majority of the tools in the game. You also miss a bunch of cool action bits like the guards calling in for gunship support.

The problem with S Ranks on missions is none of them are tailored to the mission.
It's just 130000 points, which is extremely easy on most missions, and only slightly difficult on a select few.

Well, the 130000 is actually tailored to each mission. Each mission will give different bonuses for things like Perfect Stealth, No reflex and all that based on how tough it is to do it for that mission, and the time bonus is adjusted for each. The time bonus should have been omitted though or severely nerfed since it's the main factor in getting an S.
