What about it is retarded? It makes it as fair as it possibly can be for a 1v1. Both people lose 30% of their HP, if one has 50 vit and one has 40 vit then the HP different will just be because they're different builds. It's a bit of a patchy solution but until we hear a better one I guess we'll stick with it.

The rule says host needs to BB for what reason? To make it fair for the invader, right because Invader's HP is being reduced, right? But if invader has higher HP then how is host reducing his HP fair? the rule is superfluous because it sounds like its trying to make things fair but its just moving arbitrary numbers, especially since there's no limitation on weapon upgrade level or gems used. It's expected you go in with HP runes (10 and 15 atleast) and 50 vitality. That's the standard, as many other people have said already. You can have that HP at level 98 or under.

Because then the difference in HP between the host and the invader would be the same as if they were both at 100% hp. That is the entire point of the rule. It is to simulate the normal HP difference (if there is one) between the host and the invader.

If I'm understanding it, it's because BB costs the same HP% that the invader would lose upon invading. This means that both combatants have the same benefits that investing in VIT or runes to their respective level would provide.
Without the BB a host would theoretically be able to leave out those points or runes and invest elsewhere giving themselves an advantage that otherwise wouldn't be doable within the level constraints.
You could also think of it, if both invader and the host invested the same amount in VIT, and had the same runes, as the host just naturally getting more HP to start with always.
Personal opinion, it mostly doesn't matter much to me, and it's not something worth getting all bent about but it's at the very least a show of courtesy.

Just do a charged R2 and let them walk into it, then spin around them and backstab during their buff animation. Early on they'll probably have a tiny bit of health left, but you can R1 them like 2-3 times before they get up fully.

I think the biggest strike against it being intentional is the buffs only applying to CRF gems. And specific bosses at that.
I would imagine if the buffs were intentional we would have seen cascading effects all the way down to the rank 1 gems. As it is right now the 18, and 19 gems also get a buff but the abyssals are over twice as potent as the 18. It's another odd behavior with how the effectiveness jumps so incredibly rapidly.
And of course you can only get the special gems from BLB and Pthumerian Elder, 18 and 19 heavy/cold gems from anything else work as stated in their text.

Both modes are extremely similar. With 25str/50arc you'll get really mediocre damage on all your non-beam attacks since the ARC portion of the damage is so small compared to the physical portion.
I think the tricked version has a slightly higher arc multiplier, but not a significant difference at all.

Different origins can make the difference between level 98 and level 100+. If you start as Cruel Fate, you have 14 arc and 5 bloodtinge, which means you could be at level 98 with 45 vit, 14 end, 40 str, 30 skl and 14 arc. As it stands you wouldn't quite be able to make that with the four extra points in tinge. It's not a big difference, but it can matter, yes.

The only thing to consider in your origin is which stats you don't intend to level at all and to get those to be as low as possible.

For waning, yes. You can get 23.6% triangle from Isz Watchers, but it's very rare and don't come with a secondary. For radial, 19.5% from Rom is the best, but you can get 19.3% from gargoyles, which is a lot easier.
Also different shapes come with different secondaries, so depending on which secondary you prefer, it might be better to get 2x radial even though they're a lower overall %.

Yeah, invading turns real harsh when there's a twink on the other side too. Your big advantage in a 2/3v1 scenario is that they'll probably all have shit/no gems and will take a while to kill you even when gangbanging the R1s, but if any of them has damage you're in a tough spot, because he's not only going to kill you quick but also all the enemies in the zone that might otherwise provide a distraction to kill him during.
That's when you run for the biggest, baddest enemies and the best ambush spots.

This is honestly why I prefer dark souls' system. When the host wants to be a baby and summon a wall of phantoms to hide behind while they idle at the bonfire after I've invaded, I can just hide and not show myself. The phantoms summoned after me have no way of knowing the host has a hostile player in their world and will eventually either tap out or get fed up and drag their sadsack charge through the level into my waiting arms.
With BB, the whole army always already knows there's a host-seeking missile in the world and fired for effect and you can never afford to be anything short of a twinked out monster prepared for a grueling, no-holds-barred 3v1 where you pit your single measly self against 60 bloodvials and 60 blunderbuss bullets.

It announces to them that an adversary has arrived, and the host will always have his personal army standing at the ready to receive that notification when you arrive because you can't invade unless the cheerleading squad is already there ahead of you.
I tried this game for the first time today. Having enjoyed all the previous souls games, and knowing that this game was highly recommended by even normie coworkers, and even several other from software titles I was really looking forward to it.
So far at least, I would recommend From Software's "Eternal Ring" over this game. I don't know how they made this so unenjoyable.
The contrast is too low and they have all these horrible filters you can't turn off, chromatic aberration, forced depth of field... all crap to give it the "cinematic" look. It really hurts my eyes to look at this game for more than 30 minutes at a time. It looks pretty I'll give it that, but as a game the visual style fails to deliver an experience worth having for me.
So the level design. The layout seems OK, but it is really claustrophobic. Does the entire game consist of hallways? Sure seems to feel like it. The weapon I chose has a short reach and swings in a wide arc. Not really very fun to use such a space.
The animations are spastic and overblown. This has always been a problem with the *souls series but is far worse here than ever before. I guess if you watch a lot of anime you might like it? I'm glad I don't have epilepsy.
The parry mechanic seems very flimsy. I'll do the parry, the enemy falls down, it plays the sound, I press attack, and on a 50/50 chance it just does a normal attack causing the enemy to get back up and hit me.
It's grimdark and gritty with a real "cinematic" look. I can very much see why the normies and investors liked it.
