Paarl's not to bad for a lot of people because he tebds to be encountered at a higher than intended level and it only takes a few exchanges before he's zapped out and stunlocked while he scuttles his back into a corner for the rest of the short fight. Few people actually fight him when it's intended and have to put up with the full force of the awful camera for the 5-minute slugfest that it can be.
That's part of why the loran camerabeast is so awful. There's no "come back later'. The fight is balanced and designed to take forever while you slowly whittle it down and endure the unusable camera the whole way through.
It doesn't help that there's actually a deathdrop encircling the entire arena, so you can't even push his back against a wall and wail on him when his fuse is blown like Paarl or else you risk getting thrown off the edge

ARC builds, especially ones with 70 ARC for tools, enjoy the additional qs bullets provided by Formless Oedeon. They also appreciate the Communion rune because more vials = more blood bullets. BLT builds might want to have Communion, too, maybe even Oedon Writhe since it will make their viscerals cost nothing.
STR characters benefit a lot from Clawmark because their visceral damage isn't as good as SKL-based characters.
Eye is only good for farming. can't think of any other rune that's especially useful except for certain situations like the elemental resistance runes and the ailment resistance runes.

leaving a chalice dungeon is like warping back to the Dream from any lamp, all it will do is reset everything.
Once you've made a chalice, you can also search for chalices of the same type., this means that you can basically farm a chalice's bosses, if you wanted to. So if you found that a boss dropped a gem then you wanted, you could keep going through chalice searches for the same chalice over and over again.

No, if you leave you can just enter back through any of the lamps you've lit and all of the progress like doors unlocked, loot grabbed and bosses killed will be preserved.
Generally speaking, most dungeons have 3 layers. A 4th layer is usually generated, but only very rarely is it accessible. The dungeon will usually end after the layer 3 boss.

So I think I figured it out and someone correct me if I'm wrong. So the purest blood is the blood they found in the tomb. That's the stuff that cures anything and the stuff that Laurence had his boner over to the point where he completely abandoned his master Willem (whichI suppose makes Laurence the one responsible for the beastly scourge). The jackass started running experiments and found that some people could be carriers, people able to produce more of the old blood on their own. And while most of it was weaker than it's pure counterparts, some people like Adella could still produce very strong healing effects with it. So people like Adella became nuns of the church who go around giving their blood to heal the Yharnamites, while the regular diluted stuff are carried around in vials.
Arianna for some reason became a carrier too and since she ends up having the space baby I think there may have been Great One intervention on that part. Like she was chosen. But I have to do another playthrough for that one.
Iosefka was fucking weird. She might have been a part of the part of the Healing Church judging by the White Church Garb. And the Garb says that Healing Church doctors don't necessarily use their talents to heal (I guess since they depend on blood from their nuns to do that) but rather to study. So after doing a bunch of weird ass experiments she found a way to artificially replicate the old blood effects. Which I imagine would've made Laurence flip his shit if he were still alive.
Vileblood I don't really understand yet. All I know is Arianna had it and it made her immortal for some reason. I don't know.

So looking at Blood of Adella it was used to treat someting. Be it diseases or physical injuries the end result was it was used medically. HOWEVER the Blood Vial and Iosefka's Blood Vial say that the effect is also invigorating and I quote "once a patient has had their blood ministered, a unique but common treatment in Yharnam, successive infusions recall the first, and are all the more invigorating for it...No surprise that most Yharnamites are heavy users of blood." Except Willem was gravely afraid of it. Willem wanted to make contact with the Great Ones but he thought gaining Insight was the way to go. Laurence had the same goal but somewhere along the line he got sidetracked and created a super drug that the entire town got addicted to. Either they didn't know about the side effects until it was too late or they knew and just took the gamble. So you've already experienced one of the handicaps, 50% HP. As frustrating as it is, being so susceptible to death actually makes combat pretty exciting.
One of the other ones just makes enemies stronger, so they deal more damage and whatnot.
The 3rd one is the interesting one, is it basically 'upgrades' the random generator for enemy encounters to include layouts with more enemies, stronger enemies and even unique enemies you wouldn't encounter anywhere else.
This includes things like Watchdog of the Old Lords appearing as a regular mob patrolling a room that's essentially just a giant lake of oil making you weak to fire, Undead Giant cannon variants spawning in sniper spots covering a narrow bridge, Pthumerian Elders and Descendants showing up as normal enemies and so on. The 'mob' versions of chalice bosses have less HP so they're more practical to take down, but it's still pretty interesting when you come up against some of these crazy encounters. The first CRF I ever created had a lot of neat shit like a pitch black room with nothing in it except an NPC hunter with the vileblood set, Chikage and a bone-ashed repeater waiting for a 1v1 duel, a room with 3 NPC hunters with fire-paper'd saw spears that aggrod together, an ambush sandwiching me between 2 Beast Possessed Souls on a rickety bridge, and a lever room with 4 long-haired madmen guys alongside 3 werewolves and another saw spear hunter but with a hole in the center of the room that I could bait them to drop into.
The challenges can get pretty insane but things are generally more challenging and more varied than the story dungeons, with more enemy variety, more creative encounters and just straight up more to explore. I laughed the first time I got cheesily slapped off a ledge because of a cleverly positioned jumbo blood shard thing that was just out of sight.
There's also the fact that you have to farm the bosses (or in some cases, the enemies) for the best gems.

Fire is probably the worst because lots of clothes have high fire damage reduction, but idk if arcane or bolt is better. Personally when I min-max my armor, I prioritize arcane over bolt because there are more threatening sources of arcane damage, which would make bolt better if you can freely choose your damage type... but most people probably don't min-max armor, so idk.

The bow part scales only off BLT, the blade part scales only of SKL, so You'll do crazy damage in bow form, but shit damage in blade form, since at low skill flat gems will do more than scaling gems and flat gems just can't compensate for the amount of damage you're losing on by not scaling off a high stat (Considering you're going for something higher than a low-level twink build.

Whatever level you want to stop, generally a BLT build for Simon's would probably look a lot like BLT build for Chikage which is 50 skill 50 BLT, you might reduce those depending on how low you want your level to be.
But yeah, depending on how much difficulty you're willing to deal with to get them you're better off going for flat gems then you are going for percentage gems IF you're not investing anypoints into the stat that the weapon scales off from, since +20 damage on a 70 damage weapons is better than +25% on a 70 damage weapon since that 25% would just equal to 17.5 damage.
Though thats all hypothetical, since in all fairness the difficulty at which the good flat attack gems show up, you'd honestly either not need them if you were able to reach them, or wouldn't be able to reach them in the first place lel.

I hit players for around 950 - 1200k health with the charged r2 beam just by itself. This oneshots pretty much every phantom I've encountered.
On a host I just use the followup delayed and properly kill them. Even 50 VIT hosts can't survive to the two r2 beams.

Yeah those are the two weapons I was planning on using since they seem to work similarly but this is the first build I've ever sat down and planned, every other time I've just winged it.
I'm not exactly sure how I should prioritize stats so that the game isn't too difficult. For instant I'm not sure how much VIT to have since the L2 of Chikage is going to be eating away at that.
If I prioritized BT then I could basically use the L2 modes of both the bowblade and chikage and I'd have a good ranged and up close weapon scaling with the same stat, then I could add to SKL after. Evelyn as a gun seems like the appropriate choice but I'd also have to make sure I had enough HP to facilitate the Chikage.
Bloodletter is an option too, but that requires STR.

Spacing is key. The main flaw of the Steak Dinner is it's short range, so you need to compensate for that. It's one of those rare non-strength weapons that benefits from more endurance, because the Steak works best when you can smother the opponent.
Tricked dash R1 is godlike on account of how quick it is, not to mention its swing arc. With it being a hook, you'd be surprised by the range of places you can catch people with it.
Untrikced Steak is better for defensive play, with its sweeping hits and longer reach, while tricked Steak is optimized for the offensive, getting in close and beating in. Make use of both as the situation demands.
Tricked R2 (not charged) has a surprising amount of reach for a weapon with otherwise short range. Playing unlocked, you can catch people with a pivot R2 for big damage, even more if it's a counterhit on account of the Steak's bonus counter damage.
Aside from that, all it really takes is practice. I'd say Steak is probably one of the better weapons out there, not top tier but easily high tier. It's just hard to use right.

Hammer form is pure blunt. Un-hammer is a mix of normal and thrust. Normal form is also not very good. It's basically a slower, weaker form of the saw cleaver without any special bonuses.

Careful with those side and backdash attacks. They're good for chasing, but if the opponent reacts properly it will almost always end with you getting hit. Lots of startup and endlag on those moves.

My build is 40/40 Str/Skl, but you can go higher or lower depending on what kind of build you're shooting for. Steak gets slightly better scaling from strength than it does skill, but the difference is so negligible that it doesn't really matter. Pure strength would be better suited running Kirk and Whirly, maybe Wheel if you don't mind investing in a bit of arcane.
