The best would be the whirligig saw, but most of them are good. Kirkhammer is still an excellent choice and fairly easy to use.
Ludwig's is a str/skl quality weapon and doesn't really work as well for pure str.

You can't parry, but the animation is actually pretty fast, and tracking is good as well. Really good for adding pressure when the enemy is low on health. Not to mention in PvE it staggers most enemies.

the difference I found between doing him at bl 55 and now at 67 is pretty big. the extra defence you get from levelling helps immensely and stop him from one shotting, two shotting, or putting you in serious peril with just a regular hit. at 75-80+ he'd be somehwat easy I'd say, at least on NG.
Then again I know his moveset now which is the most important thing.

Standard Ihyll has some blood 5s, btw. Layer 1 only has three of them between its pre-boss and pre-lantern areas so I don't think it'd be more efficient than just running through and remaking ailing loran a few times later. Layer 2, though, has 2 in the main dungeon and 5 in the pre-boss area, so it might be worth including on your way to HBLB to save a few remake runs.

my BLT character has 40 BLT 10 STR and 14 SKL. I use a +10 chikage which does very nicely. However since I only use the blood mode for bosses and some mobs I want a different physical weapon. the chikage actually hits decently with regular attacks, the blood scaling has nothing to do with its damage in untricked mode corect? does it really matter what weapon I use as long as it's well upgraded and I can wield it, since no other melee weapon bar the club actually scales off BLT?
What about those gems that add BLT damage to regular weapons? Worth it? It's a fun build but it just feels rather limited with weapons. the pistols are samey and the evelyn is the only one worth using.

Yeah Ihyll is good for the blood (5), the issue is that it's the very last chalice I run. Usually because descendant is such an ass but also because I like doing CRF Isz first and after you use the red jelly for CRF Isz you can't get enough for Ihyll without farming or running Lower Loran. So usually Isz -> Lower Loran -> Defiled -> Ihyll. By that point I don't really need the blood (5)

Being summoned is incredibly common at any of the levels I mentioned because jackloads of people are summoning for all the DLC bosses.
If you go to level 80, you're still going to get summoned in seconds for Ludwig. It's just the higher you go, the higher a chance you end up helping for NG+ bosses.

You do two quick circular AOE slashes and then nock and fire an arrow, then for transforming back it's a heavy arrow followed by a swipe iirc.
I rarely use the transform attacks, I try to plan out my encounters with the bowblade and if I need melee I switch to Chikage.

So my secondary character is being built for particularly high bloodtinge, and while I am more likely to be using guns like Evelyn and the Piercing Rifle, I'm curious to know if I should bother using shotguns. I love my ludwigs rifle on my main and hsave been thinking if they are worth using for more than just parrying.
Should I bother upgrading say, a Blunderbuss for the sake of damage?

If you're good at dodging and particularly nice, you can probably have people help you through at about any level with co-op bells. If you want to do it alone, the DLC is tuned for ~65 to start with Mensis-level gems.

That's the impression I'm getting. It feels like he has less health than most NPC hunters, and once you figure out you can parry his weapon in bow form he's pretty much toast.
It helps that I started off with a Bone Ash'd Evelyn to his face at point blank. By the time I'd actually damaged him enough to aggro, I'd cut down a third of his health bar.

Really all you need to do is deal some damage and pull the boss away every now and then to give the cooperator space. The only time it's annoying is if you're doing all the work against a boss scaled for two players or more.
At that point I feel like I'm just doing a job for someone else and it's not fun and I get more satisfaction from watching them die instead.

On NG+ you already have a +9/10 weapon and a full load out of gems and complete build.
I attain a near orgasm status of elation everytime I fight Ludwig's second form and the choir really kicks in.

So I've been looking for the Oedon Writhe gem that gives 3 bullets per visceral. I've tried three different dungeons and followed the instructions (when there were any) exactly and all of the chests I've opened have ONLY given me more chalice dungeon materials, never the runes people claim are there.
Is it just chance or are people just straight up lying? This is beginning to get on my nerves.

So apparently, there was a path I'd missed in the Forbidden Forest that ended up leading to another part of Iosefka's Clinic, where I found another Communion Rune and some bizarre blue creatures. Both of them were passive and when killed dropped items I can only assume were from NPCs I'd found previously. I knew I should've sent them all to the church instead.
Also found this Cainhurt Summons item, then went back to go clean up Hemwick of some items I'd missed, only for a carriage to appear. I also found a portable fucking cannon.
