Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.
It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

really, though. If you've played a game, know who was in it, and know who won, submit it. It isn't hard for me to clear up duplicates, and there aren't many /domg/ games right now anyways.

It's solid. It's considered good for newb games; vet players or early-game focused builds do better.

I'm surprised that Sauro hasn't won anything yet. They seem like a top-tier nation, great research, communions everywhere, death, some blood, powerful big mages and good archers in EA. What's their problem?
Actually, it's easier to post the table here.

Therodos nerfs when
Looking at these graphs shows that LA is played half as much as MA and EA I wonder why
From our analysis of these stats we have a few incontestable conclusions:
1) Kill Ermor first. Always. No matter what it has, no matter what you have. If everyone start killing Ermor when they see it, the world will be a better place to live.
2) Same applies to Fomoria and Lanka.
3) People don't like to play LA for some reason. Create more LA games, you scrubs!

>>124231269
They're kind of a scrub trap, like giants. They have this huge beautiful toolbox that you want to use all of, but in truth you can't, you have to focus on what you want to do most instead.
They also have almost no diversity and that hurts them a lot too, no F so no flaming arrows, no A so no Wind guide, no W above 1 so very little in the way of water shit, no E so no fun E things or E buffs, what S they do have is very low too (S1 is their best outside of heroes), their communions usually end up killing off huge numbers of slaves since people tend to use Enaries as masters (a huge mistake outside of putting up battlefield buffs). Overall they look great on paper and in truth they are, but they tend to get played by scrubs who can't figure out how to play them from what I've seen.
Oh and you can't do blood well at all, their blood mages are expensive and unreliable or StR and expensive as hell.
Not sure why this guy staled, but he actually had one of the same commander hotkeys that I use (I started using it reflexively and only noticed when I got to the troops that those were different), so I'll be sticking with it for now.
>>124234520
Thanks. Glad you decided to sub in. He lost a battle to AI Agartha I think might have been the problem.
I assume he lost his pretender too, since the scales and bless lead me to believe he took something awake.

Is there any item that negates fear? Testing out a 1v1 assassination battle and my 17 morale assassin is fleeing from an unconscious unit with a fear 9 aura that he would otherwise kill.
>>124246817
High fear just means more spread. Use morale boosters if your base morale is shit.
>>124247156
It's higher spread and higher intensity. This is trivially easy to test. The exact numbers are what everyone is ignorant about, but it is known that higher levels of fear are more likely to cause a rout
Why is Fire such shit? It's got some of the most widespread resistance items, gets countered absurdly hard by rain/storms, and has next to no boosters, and it's one non-crosspath one is ass.
>>124247156
>if your base morale is shit
Just said he has 17 morale, which is fairly high and already boosted.
>>124247347
http://www.desura.com/games/dominions-4-thrones-of-ascensions/forum/thread/the-fear-effect
Fear strength is boosted every 5 levels. So a Fear 10 unit would force checks against Morale 12. But unless you have absurdly high death magic it's not really an issue.
>>124247607
he could be taking forever to kill it. Over time fear drops moral, so if he takes 20 turns to kill it, he's going to fail unless it's mindless.
>>124247813

Uh, yeah. Fire is shit. A lot of the 'weaker' nations are weak solely because fire is shit. If fire were strong, Abyssia and Marignon would be top tier nations. But it's not, so they aren't. I fucking hate fire, it's the worst path, Mokou a shit.
I know Midgard has been staling but I still want to gloat, since his army was fully scripted.my god followed his script like Bill Murray follows a script. at least he cast Flaming arrows though.

Did some more testing, editted it some more. Am particularly interested if the Horned One is always a N5E1, if it always has the same gear (an enchanted spear, a wall shaker, and a amulet of resilence), if it always has 5 earth gems and 1 nature gem, and if it's affected by dominion/blessings/etc? Does it work in Ctis territory? Will it get diseased?
>>124259910
Mate I was going to, but you ain't put up what nation you are and I figured it was a time-sensitive issue anyways.
>>124260129
You should know who in EA has deep earth anyway.
>>124259812
It depends. Golems are great if you have N9 and are much cheaper than virtually any other option. Elemental royalty can be good as well. Stuff like Seraphs and Chayots are incredibly strong, but you'll need Wish to get them (or pay even MORE pearls, but also get a supporting cast of angels). A Tartarian with the right paths can be good but gets hard countered by certain units/items.
>>124259345
Was that my troops?
If so, the reason would be that they all have native fire resistance.
>>124260175
There's maybe Van and Ur, but I haven't heard shit from them in the thread and it's a 1/40 chance, there's Agartha who I don't trust after utterdark shit, there's Kailasa who doesn't have what I'm looking for, there's Hinnom, Niefelheim, and Xibalba who all might have gotten deep earth from a lucky grigori / demon lord / hero, there's Theredos who's questionable and pretty small, and there's Marverni who could have just gotten unlucky from cap-only 1/16 StR mages.
>>124259223
Can whoever wrote the Marignon 'strategic overview' please create a new guide page, paste it in there, develop it further, fix the glaring issues, and/or hang themselves so that they can write a competent Helheim guide instead of the useless Marignon guide? >>124262793
It got basic facts wrong (knights of the chalice are not cap only), it calls its heavy infantry / fire magic approach "strong," it contains no information or thoughts on mage recruitment (using cheap initiates for lab rats vs the expensive, but actually useful witch hunters which you want en masse for combat), no actual discussion of scales other than implying that they're nice to have, states explicitly that you want to recruit shieldless infantry without saying why or what to field them against, shit about paths being either underdeveloped or outright misleading...

I lost 5 so it was killing them, just not fast enough. Maybe a little unlucky, but it was only 1 damage and only 50% of the time.
I think some of them self-buffed with luck/twist fate so that probably helped too.
Is using an alchemist with alchemist stone to cast transmute fire for around 50 gold per gem worth it?
I can't really use fire gems in other stuff, and i don't think a Flame spirit is worth 1500g
>>124269504
Fire Snakes might be worth it (they're worse than really elite troops like Revelers that you could recruit with the alchemized gold, but better than many national troops), Lightless Lanterns are superb if you still need research and some items like Fire in the Jar might be worth it in certain situations (in this case having a lot of F1s, which can cast Phoenix Power with this free gem and become F2s)
>>124261386
I've got E6 at the moment and will probably get around E7-E8 in the (possibly near) future. HIt me up if you are interested or something.
>>124269504
Nearly always.
Unless your recruitables are absolutely useless, summoned mages are not better than 10 of them. Earth gems are extremely valuable for warfare, and occasionally fire ones are too. But summons? No. Summons are nearly never better than building more units with gold. If you can gems into gold in any good way, that's generally a good trade.
But if you are casting Summon Fire Elemental enough times that you need those fire gems for that? Fire elementals are pretty boss, so is Heat From Hell and Fire Storm, etc.
>>124270216
If i were you i would keep some gems just in case r'lyeh casted utterdark again. If he does and you don't have enough pearls, we will waste a turn again before dispelling. Even if the globals we casted the last turn were overcasted, there is a chance mother oak isn't overcasted enough and utterdarks goes in that place. Also any other meme global that r'lyeh casts.
I don't know, just keep an amount you think will be enough.
>>124270405
but i'm getting 28 fire gems per turn, I can't use enough combat spells to spend them all.also i'm not at war right now and my fire gem pool is at 60 at the moment
Would battlefield spells like Mist and Darkness stack?
>>124270630
I mention this specifically because with Fire magic you actually want to use the gem requiring stuff because evocs often won't cut it, but a bum rush of fire elementals will.
If you have a shit-ton though, just turn it into gold and then into mages. I forget how the scaling works though, maybe you're better off saving them up or something? Dunno, go look it up on desura.

ded
>realizes I'm playing assassins with skull talismans the game
Because anything less than 100 units patrolling apparently has 0 chances of finding them, and guard commander has 0 chances of showing up to fight.
>>124291406
>tfw your main mage defaults to Horde of Skeletons spamming
Bring on the assassins.
>>124291804
well that would be nice.
instead I get a 300 gold mage fresh recruit, ie no chance to set a script, who's default script can't handle 1 skeleton per turn.
Of course every game were I try this I get a 1/3 chance of hitting a mounted commander who charges up and kills the assassins, but the rng hates me whenever I play mictlan apparently.
>>124292040
>ie no chance to set a script
That doesn't matter. Assassination events ignore scripting.
If you have spare gems you can give some to your mages and hope they default to elemental summoning. It's pretty effective depending on what paths they have.
Goats: I took Northern Granmarch because Mictlan had a huge stack of jags there (I assume they took the province from you), and I didn't really want to chance them crossing behind my lines.
I'd like to pay you for it and Hookhill, the province north of it, as it links my territory together across those mountains. If you want it back though just go ahead and move some troops in, there's only 1 PD.
>27 morale assassin at full health fails a morale check against a fear 9 unit and routs
Well, that's nice I guess.
>>124292167
so scripting doesn't work, guard commander doesn't work, and patrolling with less than an entire army doesn't work.
I've been trying to resist going AI out of saltiness, but this isn't helping.
>>124293065
Guard commander does work, it just has a %-based chance to work. Same with patrolling.
>>124270405
Unit gem summons you mean.
>>124293061
High level fear is broken as shit.
I've had counterthugs rout after killing their target because fear aura lingers and overpowers their 20 morale easily.
Just letting you guys know, the /vg/ League has started. The current game is /vitagen/ vs /mgg/ and after that we'll be having /domg/ vs /utg/. If you want to watch, head over to the 4CC thread: >>124281532
>>124293065
Guard Commander works, as does putting up the PD/Patrolling with a shitton of slaves you free spawn. Give your mages some gems, some skull talismans, some skullfaces, lifelong protections, handfuls of acorns. The key to winning any duel is to bring friends.
>>124293193
>it just has a %-based chance to work.
It also depends on the quality of assassins. If you are fighting patient assassins without bodyguard bonus, you are fucked.
>>124293193
let me rephrase, guard commander with less than 20 troops has little effect.
So basically I can't have armies out because I need all of them to patrol my forts to stop the assassins, and I need to have half the army set to guard commander otherwise I'll lose the commander before the patrol goes off.
I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. It could be the rng fucking me, but that basically mean that if the rng doesn't like you there isn't a way to stop this, and I should just quit now because I've been trying all the techniques to stop assassins since the turn this started, and the rng has just said no.
>>124293496
>with less than 20 troops
It doesn't matter how many troops you have guarding commander, there's only one check and it allows for 4 bodyguards (unless items are involved)
Guarding with 2 and guarding with 40 is the same shit.
>>124293356
I've noticed how fucked up it is in testing this, had consistent routing against my test target at 17 morale until I swapped some items to up it to 21, but I would have never expected a rout at 27 fucking morale.
>>124293445
Fuck of, Boksi.
>>124293496
Stop being a whiny bitch, and read the fucking manual/do some fucking research.
Guarding with more than 5 troops, 10 if your commander has that ring of warning, is a waste against assassins. You'd know this if you did even cursory googling, you fuckwit.
The RNG ain't doing shit, you're just a fucking retard.
>>124293496
give your mages blood slaves, they'll usually spam imps.
>>124293731
I suspect it doesn't really matter how much morale you have (as long as it's below 30).
Fear keeps ticking morale checks, so if failure is possible sooner or later you -will- fail. This isn't as big an issue against large numbers of units because they won't be affected by the fear all at once and morale works in averages, but for a lone assassin a single failure means you're routing, so you get fucked pretty hard by fear unless you get really lucky with your morale checks.
>>124293643
so even more, if the rng says no, there is jack shit you can do about it.
I normally try to resist raging at randomness playing a part in game, but when there is an entire strategy whose counter depends on the rng being friendly the rage rises.
>>124294067
>whose counter depends on the rng being friendly the rage rises
The counter to assassins is to expect them being deployed by a very few nations that get them and come prepared.
>>124293872
>read
hits freshly bought mages. so no chance to give slaves
>>124293815
read the fucking posts.
I was wrong about how many to set to guard commander, but that was out of desperation because setting 5 to guard, patrolling, etc wasn't doing shit because yes the rng was fucking me.
I've had 30+ troops patrolling every places the assassins have been hitting, found nothing till I up it to 100.
Equiping items wasn't going to work, because the rng has them hitting the other mages, so I'd need to forge 10 items for every 1 he forges.
and lastly guard commander didn't fucking work, because they've shown up once in 20 assassination, despite having them on every important mage after the first turn of assassination, because the rng decided to fuck me.
I've done everything the manual and research says I should do, but every one of those depends on an rng going in my favor.
I'll stop bitching the minute someone suggests a counter that satisfies the following two conditions.
1) doesn't require a favorable rng result
2) doesn't require me to forge 10 items for every 1 that my opponent would forge.
I am honestly listening.
>>124294379
>be prepared
HOW?!
that's my fucking point. I've done all the things that everyone has or is saying to be prepared, and they all require the rng to not say 'fuck you'.
>>124294006
Finally, a use for slave collar.
>>124294067
There is fucking plenty you can do about it, or else every game would just be fucking Abysia shitrolling over everyone, with MA Marignon, EA Ermor, and LA Pythium being banned everywhere.
Patrol. Take an army. A big one. Full of slaves and cheap shit. Don't just recruit a bunch of your best units and upkeep your shit to death. Use that army to patrol. You'll probably need more than the two dozen units you're using right now. In fact, you know for a fact that you do. Because you've done that. So keep doing that. You fucking child.
Gear up your important mages. Handful of acorns. Skull talisman. Skullface. Anything that spawns units. You'll lose some, but eventually he'll hit your geared ones, and get buttfucked. maybe stop recruiting mages in the fucking province where he's assassinating everyone.
Bodyguards. Use a ring of warning. Use troops with the bodyguard ability.
Give your commander some amount of gems. They'll shit out elementals/skeletons/swarms/imps/etc.
Start a war with the person with the assassins, and be fucking agressive. Bring more fucking troops/commanders than he can assassinate. March on his capital, pillage everything.
You know, it also might help if you could fucking tell us what age mictlan, and what is assassinating everything, you fucking baby.
>>124294636
Mind hunt works, and assassins generally have 60 stealth so you have to have a patrolling force of 60 to have a 50% shot at finding them. 30 ain't gonna cut it.
>>124295046
>slave collar on counterthugs
Do you want to get charmed, senpai?
>>124294636
You need 50+ units patrolling in order to have a decent chance of catching an assassin, so just use the cheapest units you can get. Summon some wolves if you can, those are pretty efficient patrollers and don't have an upkeep.
The match is starting, bois.
>>124295558
Fuck off, Boksi.

>>124294748
>I've done all the things that everyone has or is saying to be prepared
You haven't done anything to an extent needed. So you are not prepared.
Mictlan shits cheap patrollers, most of your mages are going to default to summoning shit when given gems or slaves, you can easily produce items that guarantee you bodyguards in combat. Basically you've failed at the planning stage and are now blaming rng.
>>124295990
Just domkill it.

like that would matter. and I did say what's doing the assassinating.
As for your solutions, look at them again and ask yourself, 'could the rng fuck that?'.
Or that your saying spend 5 times what the assassinating player is spending, and hope the rng doesn't fuck you.
or just look at the fact you are recommending mictlan forge skullfaces to counter skull talisman and realize that you aren't paying attention to what you are saying.
I've tried the exact same assassin strat, but the rng went the other way, and I lost. That's what's getting me. It's too fucking random unless the defending player can massively outspend the assassin player. Not too good, too random.
>>124296582
>like that would matter
Of course it fucking matters, dumb newfag.
>>124296582

>>124296582
Trade for the items. Patrol with wolves. EA/LA has blood, summon some cheap shit.
As for your bitching, look at them again, and ask yourself, "maybe I'm just bad."
As a sidenote: rng is a specific term in dominions, and you're not using it right.
>>124294636
If you're giving mages gaurds it's obviously not solely hitting those mages.
Also stop recruiting your cap onlies and switch to the priests for a while to save yourself all this salt, they're still incredibely useful and none of your cap onlies are str.

>>124296582

It can't fuck that if you are applying all of it to the needed extent.
>spend 5 times
He's spending gems, fort production turns and commander turns. Your are using clearly not enough troops and whining about RNG.
>or just look at the fact you are recommending mictlan forge skullfaces to counter skull talisman and realize that you aren't paying attention to what you are saying.
He listed them amongst everything else that summons extra troops. You are fucking mictlan, it starts with vinemen and imps and yes it ends with skullfaces for cruicial commanders.
>>124297129
So underwater nations can use it.
>that forester bob goal
>>124296582
You tried patrolling with 30 units against a 60 stealth unit. You didn't get fucked by RNG, you're just fucking retarded.
And equipping your commanders with magic gems is an incredibly efficient way to defend against assassins, considering you're spending 1-2 gems per dead assassin (which are equipped with 5 gem items and would otherwise be a mage for him), and you can recover your gems from all the mages that didn't get an assassination attempt once your assassins are dead. Mind hunt is also a decent alternative.

You're doing a good job. EA R'lyeh is terrible, and cheeky shit like this is pretty much the only way they can compete, especially in a big game like this. Wether it;s for roleplaying reasons or you're actually trying to make people ragequit, you're using one of the few viable strategies R'lyeh has to actually win games.
It's no surprise that everyone is mad at you because casting Armageddon basically means you're attacking everyone at once, but just ignore the pussy faggots who quit because of you and those whining about how you're not playing the game right, because anyone who actually knows their shit realises that's scrubby bullshit.

Hello soon to be neighbour
I am. On a phone at the moment though.
>no turns
>no cute battle reports to read
Take your turns or post about the turns you've taken.
>>124312185
I'll take your mom you nerd
>>124312250
Hilarious insult, friend! Keep it up!
>>124312134
Alright. I'm willing to give you 104 and 91, but nothing else. I know you're making good income on your provinces already, considering I have dominion in them, and asking for anything more is just silly. I'm only doing this because I would rather get rid of the skeletons before wasting my resources on a war with you.
>>124312535
Considering it at the moment, but let me actually get to a computer to look at the map. Will give you an answer then. If you put in you're turn before then, since you're the last one, shit will get awkward.
The struggle continues.
>>124312781
I haven't submitted my turn yet. If you have any troops invading my lands next turn I expect that you'll tell me. That is, if you accept my offer
>>124306989
Yes, ish.
Also who was the missing order for? Agartha got the wrong stuff.
>>124313186
I did have stuff invading, but considering that you're willing to split the farmland, I'm okay with the deal. If I were more confident in my ability to win for certain, and I didn't have a certain cancerous dominion on my border, it might be different. But considering the existence of Ermor, I'd rather not smash our troops together.
As of now I've put in a different Turn, nothing should be moving through your territory minus the possible scout.
>>124313664
Alright
>>124313621
>undermeming
As I'm not next to the skeletons, I will start with offering a 1 gold bounty on each skeletons of Ermor's that is killed. It's not going to be a massive amount but would urge others whom are not near the skeletons to offer a similar amount to help fund an early end to the skelemenace.
I'd like a sufficiency of proof that it is in this game and so such.
>>124314314
that could potentially be a great deal of gold.
you should offer two for every ghoul, they're his castle defenders.
>Luck 0

>>124314632

the outcome of the fight isn't what I mean, every fight is a learning experience
it's more like the dubious scattershot suggestions in >>124316647:
learning how to use wolven winter, where fights take place when both armies move etc.
I wouldn't keep throwing armies into the grinder if losing them was super critical; I want to learn how to use them.
So, wait, is Lanka in a bad position right now? Because that's just glorious.
>>124317779
It's not as though I would have a good chance of winning anyway even if I didn't start next to a massive wasteland
>>124307947
Bets on the demon lord killing everyone?
Also, R'lyeh was the only one to respond with ideas for the Ocean Alliance chat thing, let's have a roll call of whom is in the thread for it.
Also Satan (Yomi) is needing to drop out, any volunteers as a sub?
>>124317779
C'tis and whoever started in all the other farms are probably the only ones left in the running. Fomoria might if he can clean up Machaka/Yomi, arco seems like kind of a scrub and is struggling to beat EA Ulm AI. Maybe Vanheim is doing better?
>>124319692
Formia lost his god, prophet and over 100 Nemedians vs me, I'm pretty sure he can't kill me and machaka in any reasonable time frame.
>>124319807
He's been kicking Machaka's ass though, thunderstrike outranges any of the shit Machaka has been throwing out and their troops are just no where near as good.
china you would have won this battle if you scripted your archers to attack his archers
you also put your plague carrier hero in the middle of your mages

>>124319662
I'm in the thread, but ain't really got a whole lot of ideas.
>>124319807

How did that happen? Pretty much any setup yomi can do is better done by fomoria.

>>124320352
He tried to storm my cap, without mage support. Ate fireballs from Hannyas singing 'Do you hear the people sing?'
Just lost my highest income province to that travelling band of indie faggots who immediately sniped my commander and routed 30 PD. What's the hardest you guys have been fucked by random events?
>>124313426
Any chance you can do that for me if I give you the gems, or is it a no go?
>>124320372
I'm essentially just going to have to stall him until I can get Banefire online. The only counter I can think of atm for Tstrikers put in the far rear are to put everything forward and mix in Boudas/hyeanas with temperflesh or some other lightning resists and skelespamming
>>124320739
In actual games Bogus landing on 200 gold income province while I was gold starved as fuck is probably the worst.
But I've run multiple test games where I got my capital sieged by 40 trolls on turn 3.
>>124320818
Birds, you plan is silly and I can't really see how it's going to work. How are you going to target it?
>>124320968
shhhh, I'll pay you for it and fail, just tell me if you'll do it or not
>>124320818

>>124324836
Looking at stales (I'm the guy who offered to AI ppl) you could probably safely AI Hinnom, potentially Lanka as well. Unless you know something I don't.

>>124332364
Don't worry, I'm removing squids now, and Cealum has what must be the best plan ever.

>>124332548
I also am invading squids. I've got two small expansion forces right now but I'm working on finding summons worth putting UW, we'll have to talk when I get out of that inlet between us.
>>124333023
Do you want to buy any of my 'getting underwater' gear? Like chalices and shambler skins?
And I went into the other sea, so you might not get out of the inlet.
>>124333202
Well shit. Is there space to go around you?I might buy them at DorfHammer prices if there is. That's still a hefty W profit for you, while justifying my buying them from you in the first place.
Ahahahahaha
Pythium tried to suicide a diseased mute Theurg, but he cast Frozen Heart a few times and killed the 1 PD instead.

Both of the diseased thaumaturgs I tried to get off the pension plan survived their battle too, but luckily one of them at least had the good grace to die to his disease this turn.

It's a magical attempt to end the world, using a spell that can warp reality to the desires of the caster. You can also wish to kill enemy pretenders, or steal their unique summons and items. It's great.
Ermor has agreed to settle our differences with a Magic Duel. Our pretenders will do battle directly. May the true heir to Ermor win.
>>124347316

He caught 3 assassins by simply setting a single army to patrol last turn, so i'm not sure why he's complaining in the thread. If he'd done that, like, 5 turns ago, he'd likely have overrun me by now.
>>124303389
Finished spriting for the unit mod I was doing. Just going to finish the code and writing then I"ll release these five nations.
Also addressed Abysia's units being a bit lame. The boring Lava Warrior with a Holy Flail got replaced by the Hell-Born which has a Hell Sword instead. So you have a berserking 6 dude with life drain.

>>124358521
No, not really. On Desura and SA at least they were pretty fun.
>>124358583
Oh, really? Can you tell me what nations were used? I'm genuinely curious, never been to SA and have never checked Desura games.
>>124358697
CoE nations, Warhammer nations, and some of Globu's and Sombre's nations.
Warhammer nations tend to be really OP though.
>>124356337
I can't wait for what you can come up with for Micltan. I would like to see elite units for the cap only of each era (so something unique for jags in MA and something unique for eagles in EA LA)
>>124358762
Warhammer tends to be played against other warhammer nations, but they vary pretty widely in power. I remember Skaven being fucking stupid even at a glance, but the knights and dwarves were pretty cool.
>>124358762
Neat. I thought Warhammer nations to be the most balanced ones though.
>>124358841

>>124359004
>>124358891
>>124358882
I played a warhams game in dom4, skaven and lizards are op, some of the chaos ones are op, nehekhara is weird (tm), but otherwise it's alright. Elves, dwarves, humans aren't weak, but they aren't top tier either. Weirdly vampire counts are probably one of the weaker ones.
>>124356337
^ i'd play that abysia, and take a bless
>>124359671
Warden Ascendants (basically Wardens with Glamour), Jade Guard (40 AP 4 Attacks), and the Hell-Born as I already mentioned are the ones that are sacred.
My personal favorite are the Champion Longbows with 50 precision.
>>124359843
Ah, but do they use bodkins to pierce armour
and robin-hood style fire five arrows at once
>>124359923

>>124359843
>Jade Guard (40 AP 4 Attacks)

>>124360009
Just two falchions and two hooves to represent the fact they're quickened.
>>124360009
My guess (not that guy) is lance, sword, hoof hoof.
>>124360109
But wait, if they're sacred and get w9, what happens then?
>>124360109
>Just two falchions and two hooves to represent the fact they're quickened.
Consider just giving them the quickened tag then, since otherwise they're going to get quickened and be kinda stupid. Honestly, even F9 alone is already insanely strong with 8 attacks / square
>>124360240
They get 8 attacks. But the other nations also get crazy stuff like Ulm' Forge Brothers with heat shield and their black steel, Gehenna Anakites with fire brands, and Machaka's Death Light Cultists with banefire shield and fear.
>>124360559
They're still quite vulnerable to evos and arrows, so I don't think it's a huge issue. You can't give units quickness either unless it's a commander set to cast quickness.
>>124297840
stop being so damn retarded.
building a strategy around armageddon IS the right choice in that map and whoever did it is doing the right thing in its interests. he is playing the game right.
now you could just look at your nation and realize that, supposedly, you should have lot of N gems with mother oak and spamming transformations on Pans(preferably with GoH on, but you can see arguments for it anyway) is going to give you fat advantages in a gold-poor world.
>>124360592
I'm pretty much all for more interesting/better sacreds. Hell, i'm for better everything really. Easier research, better spells, cheaper mages, everything except mundane infantry could easily get better. Midgames where mundane human troops are relevant as anything but chaff is lame as fuck as far as i'm concerned.
>>124363079

>>124364930
EA sucks because everything good is aquatic and is really hard to get on land.
LA sucks because their dominion kills population and freespawn eat gold.
MA can be decent, but I've heard they lose easily to a blessrush by either of the other MA underwater nations.
>>124364930
Shit troops, mediocre mages.
Underwater patch helped a bit since their slave mages no longer lose paths, but they aren't great either way since W2-3/S1 is not the most potent combination and their other paths aren't strong enough for more than little utility.

You seem to be under the assumption that Dominions 4 is a cooperative game.
A better analogy would be starting to indiscrimatingly flinging nukes in a cold war game like Defcon. Nigh garunteed to make you lose, but perfectly within the games rules and possible expectations of other players.
OP image turns out to be very appropriate to the topic at thand
>>124380054
>Not that I'm saying what R'lyeh did was a good choice, personally I'd have started wishing for population, slowly building R'lyeh itself into a megaprovince of billions whilst drowning random armies of other people.
It's not worth it, really. Simply impossible to have enough wishes like that do do any significant impact.

>He doesn't know pop caps at 50k
>>124380310
You seem to be confused about the way /domg/ plays its games. You see, most people here have a very one-track mind when it comes to war.
Once you've started a war, you must absolutely, at all times remain at war. Even when you're losing, you either gotta keep pretending you're winning, or else give up and go AI. Diplomacy is for weenies.

I kind of think you are a cool guy (even if you sometimes tryhard too much at memeing).
Just think that if you leave R'lyeh is winning. Also anyway a meme annoying strategy is still a strategy.
I can feel you, brcause both of us cant reach r'lyeh so we can just soak genocides and wait for it to finish, hoping his neighbours will kill him.
Just stay, anon! You can play as a puppet nation for me if you dont feel like thinking anymore, but if you leave you are letting memers and meme enablers win.

>>124384889
Throwing your armies away trying to fight me is an irrational, emotional action which will spell your doom in the wars to come.

Now is the time where the true strategists will be revealed, are you one of them?
>>124385467
Fuck off R'lyeh, your terrible scales alongside your armageddon seals your fate. Before everyone didn't care enough to kill you, now they do.

He's actually enjoying pretty positive scales from his neighbors. His dominion was contained to the core region.
>>124385650
Make no mistake, I don't care if you invade or not, whatever happens will amusing regardless and I can hold out almost indefinitely.
I certainly don't expect you to be able to withdraw now that you have committed yourself to an invasion, that would be inconsistent and thus you will rationalize it to the end, to your doom.
My message was more of a broadcast to everyone in hopes it would stir the cold calculating strategist within.
There are paths which lead to victory and paths which lead to death, the void is ready to embrace you.

By all means, waste your troops and lose the game. You know I speak the truth.
>>124386907
You're deciding to exclude one important thing, if we continue to let you survive you will cast wish every time you are able, correct?

Cast astral corruption. R'lyeh's pretender will be attacked by a doom horror, and if you don't want AC up afterwards, suicide for him or pool astral gems from everyone to dispel it.
>>124390671
>R'lyeh's pretender will be attacked by a doom horror
Depending on doom horror, he won't have any issues surviving.
>>124390617
A fair number have been added. I went and pestered a couple less-active dominions players and they submitted a dozen or so. A lot of the other nonsubmitted games were those with no clear winner where everyone just kind of went ai.
>>124390861
Sure. I added a couple myself as well. But /domg/ has been around for... what, 3 years now? We've had WAY more than 40 games in that time. Even discounting the ones that didn't end with a clear winner.
>>124390724
He'll be attacked by a doom horror every turn with a 100 gem cast, and you can easily lower the dominion of his god's province with a few melancholia casts or some false idols to drop his health to manageable levels.
>>124391249
>He'll be attacked by a doom horror every turn with a 100 gem cast
He only needs to do like two-three more armageddons. Hell, even if he doesn't get them, world is already down to 30% of population.
>drop his health to manageable levels
Things that stop doom horros are not related to god's hp.
>>124387391
>At least I can eat your land now.
This to be honest family.
Mictlan's out too, which is a boon for me as well. Looks like R'lyeh has actually preserved the aspect of peaceful landgrabbing, at least in the west, by giving us more AIs to go for.

Eternal expansion is wonderful.
>>124378932
I'm not even in the game, but holy shit aren't you a gigantic faggot
>>124391030
It also doesn't count "meme" games (ie, those that are heavily modded), and /domg/ tends to play a lot of those. I know there are games not on there, but of the dozen or so games I've played with /domg/, 1 was deleted early, one had everyone stale/ai in the first thirty turns, two more were heavymodded memegames, and I think another 1-2 that I exited early didn't have a real winner, but just a bunch of abandons.

wew lad I barely know how to play singleplayer game
>>124407246
I've won several games on /domg/ and while late-game turns can indeed take a lot of time, I've never, ever spent more than an hour on any one turn.
Sure you can test out every possible scenario, but you quickly run into diminishing returns. You simply cannot test for every possibility, and unless you're completely retarded you'll quickly learn what does and doesn't work in a certain scenario. Sure, your opponent might do something you didn't expect, but if that's the case you're not going to be able to test for it anyway.
People can test all they want, I don't care. In the end it's just a massive waste of time, and certainly no substitute for gitting gud.
>>124407696
I don't think any of us know how to play.
>>124407696
Same can be said about most people on /domg/
>>124407729
Testing can be incredibely useful, I've lost armies due to leaving my script the way it was and someone running multiple tests against it.
I've also won against people who tested a ton and found interesting ways to beat my army because I threw in something unexpected or my luck beat their statistics.
>>124408357
I'm not saying testing is never useful, but spending 2-4 hours testing every turn, like that guy suggests, is a huge waste of time for very little benefit.
>>124407246
He may be right, but that's the try-hard method for people with way too much time on their hands. Pouring 2 to 4 hours in every turn ? Testing and predicting everything ? That's nice, but I'm not even sure getting a win is worth that 'price', as he calls it.
That said, I totally agree when he says whatever you learned should be reused in the next game. It might seem obvious, but that's a legit way to git gud. And it actually works without the player needing to test everything all the time.
>>124408234
To be fair, it's pretty fucking hard to git gud at dominions given how it's such a massive timesink and the variety of opponents you go against.
>>124347976

Taking a province I lost to indies and then returning it isn't giving me a free province, and the entire issue over the throne, while it isn't clear cut, paints you in a poor light, one of grabbing what you can when you see the opportunity.

You sshould make an effort to, ass they ssay, handle the banter.
I did not take your posst ass a ssuggesstion, ssince it wass not directed at me and expresssed clear doubt at the posssibility of a ceasse-fire. One doess not make a ceasse-fire by telling a random sstranger that you do not trust ceasse-firess. My initial "attack" came only after I had called you out on your obvioussly aggresssive troop movementss, after which you admitted openly in thiss general that you intended to invade me. An attack made after a formal declaration of war can hardly be sseen ass pre-emptive. I do not care in what light you sseek to paint me, becausse your actionss speak louder than your wordss.
You are dessperate to make me look like the bad guy becausse you sstarted a war you now realisse you cannot win. I offered you two sseparate opportunitiess to sstop this nonssensse, but you attacked me right after the firsst and ignored the ssecond.
Do you have any good reasson why I sshould give you a third? If sso, I would like to hear it.
Speaking of assassins, I'd like to purchase two skull talismans to get a use out of the assassins that my predecessor recruited. I'd be happy to trade 7 water or fire gems for each.

It appears the indies didn't like Agartha and I bickering. Must be the game telling us to destroy the cancer skeles
>>124421105
2. I sent you 12 + 12 S and D.
>>124421075
Ok, sending 14 water for 2 skull talismans.
Yo TC. Last chance to not stale before I replace you with somebody else/the AI.
>>124419783
Honestly I'm tired of talking to you, first it was not replying at all to my posts then claiming ignorance, then misundersatnding everything, now boasting and trying to frame me in as bad a light as possible.
Anyone interested in knowing what you and I are like/have said can easily look back through the posts in the archive.
>>124421379
That would just leave the two of us.
>>124421172
Completely true, although I might have gotten the shorter end of the stick. I'm in a position that I could reclaim your province this turn and let one of your scouts cap it or whatever. Could you do the same for my province? You can keep all of the items you get too. I just don't want to divert my skelefucker army and waste 3 turns getting there.
>>124421379
That'd leave me and Ermor.
Honestly? Asside from R'lyeh fighting to the pretty much last, fuck all all those other people who joined.
>>124421667
We can always settle the game in the duel of our pretenders.

Well, we seem to have reached an imp-ass. And I thought MA was meant to have the least demons.
>>124421493
Iss it really that imposssible for you to admit you made a misstake sstarting thiss war? Enough with your accussationss. Go on, name one thing I've ssaid that wassn't the truth. Sshow me one posst or messsage in which I lied to you, or sstop making sshit up.
But fair enough, if you're sso determined to keep up your aggresssion, I ssupposse I have no choice but to oblige you.
>>124422168
You don't have to worry. I'm going to take 3 thrones after 2 turns and win.
>>124422185
You're not the only one that does this, but honestly, I'd appreciate it if y'all could just say "I have defeated your army, so I am taking your clay"
>>124422185
>>124421493
>this is what happens when you ban MA ermor from the game
>>124421639
I'm clearing 1 Province to my south first, but then yes I can do that if you haven't already taken it. The items are enough enticement that I'm willing to do that much for you.
I can reclaim my province on my own this turn though, had some of my ponymen in the area. Would prefer for our armies to not clash again.
>>124422185
Did I say that it was a wise move? Did I praise my tactical accumen for doing this?
"Machaka threathened me, then attacked me, and now that he got hiss asss kicked and hiss pretender killed he claimss we're not at war at all. Hiss wordss do not sseem to match his actionss."
1. I didn't claim we were not at war, I mentioned that the promised ceasefire didn't happen, which isn't even an end to a war properly.
2. Missing out the you attacking first, regardless of it being entirely justified on your part still a deception.
Want me to go further back, post by post?I really should stop replying at this point, but it's too funny.
>>124422342
That is undoubtedly the way thiss will end. I ssupposse I'm ssimply letting mysself get baited too much by Machaka'ss whining. In thiss, the fault iss mine.
>>124422652
I appreciate it.
>>124422462
The same thing that happens in almost every game?nerds arguing that is.
>>124422772
I'm fine with just being at war, as I said from the start. Anyone with scouts can see what's going on and who's got what forces, so Idon't need to respond to your claims of massive whipeouts vs chaff being destroying my only army.
>>124423119
this is kinda why I prefer blitz. Instead of posturing all I do is PM some guy and ask him to attack this other guy with me. it's fun to read the wall of texts though
>>124423435
That's all I've ever done in Pbem and it works great for me.
Simple logic almost always outweighs posturing.
>>124422763
>1. I didn't claim we were not at war, I mentioned that the promised ceasefire didn't happen, which isn't even an end to a war properly.
There wass no promisse of ceassefire. The only posst you made concerning thiss was >>124381243. Telling ssome Anon that you do not trust ceasse-firess is not the ssame thing as promissing me a ceasse-fire. Even you sshould be capable of realissing this. If you wanted peace, you sshould have told me. You never did, sso you cannot claim good intentionss after the fact with a sstraight face.
>2. Missing out the you attacking first, regardless of it being entirely justified on your part still a deception.
You declared war on me in thiss general, after which, yes, I attacked you. I do not undersstand how any persson can be sstupid enough to expect me to ssit idly by and let you attack me, or to conssider an open attack after a public declaration of war a "deception." It iss quite the oppossite.
I would not like you to go further back. Firsst of all becausse thiss iss pointless, ssince you obviously have no intentionss of sstopping thiss war and the claim that you ever had ssuch iss a flimssy excusse at best. Ssecond, I don't particularly enjoy lisstening to more of your pathetic accussationss, and neither doess, I asssume, anyone elsse here.
>>124424020
>neither doess, I asssume, anyone elsse here.
No, no, we love it. By all means carry on.
Tell Me /Domg/ what is best in life?
>>124423435
The funny thing is these things only happen in anonymous games. I've never seen people sperg out like this in Steam signup games, but I've seen them several times for anonymous games.
I wonder if either Machaka or Ctis is that autistic Russian guy from a while back. He seems to fly off the handle every other game.

Unfortunately, it seems there several players who can't contain their salt levels, or can't resist getting into pointless arguments. That or there's one guy who signs up for most games organized here.
>>124425134
Devils and imps aren't that dangerous, but the Goat Sun is pretty stronk to encounter, especially with him appearing during the first year.
>>124425286
I know someone in literally 19 games, but most of them are not played on /domg/
Surprisingly, he almost never stales, but unsurprisingly he does very poorly since his scripting is generally not tailored for what he's fighting.
>>124425406
If I understand correctly most communities outside of /domg/ have much longer turn timers than we do. Still, 19 is a fuckload even if you're NEET.
>>124425134
The Goat Sun is definitely very powerful, yes.
>>124425542
They start with 24 for expansion like we do, but most go to 48 much more quickly and get as high as 60/72 in the late game whereas we tend to cap out at 48 barring specific needs for extensions.

>>124430540
>>124430717
It's the only possible explanation.
All Yesterdays is another massive EA game, with every nation represented.
The first year isn't even over yet, and we've got 3 stalers already. Goatsun landed right between two of them, possibly between all 3 if yomi's capital is where I think it is.
The signs are all there.
Pankoman is fucking mad as hell guys.
>>124431895
>if yomi's capital is where I think it is
It's in Japan.
The map All Yesterdays uses has fixed starting positions, so it's not hard to figure out who goes where.
>>124421667
H-hey, I tried ok?
I just failed hard -_-

sceleria gets a hero that gives 2 blood slaves a turn.
there are sites that break you into blood easier than that.
hell there are thrones that break you into blood easier than that
fuck you can probably convince a blood nation to give you two slaves a turn.
Waiting 2 years to empower a scout, and then another year to start having a small scale super shitty blood economy isn't breaking into blood. especially if you have to wait for a hero to show up. which isn't guaranteed.
