Just beat the game:
1: engine upgrade is nice, but holy fuck they need a whole new engine. God damn.
2: The factions trusted me way more than they should have. I followed dance arround in the first BOS mission for a bit, then shot up kellog, then suddenly I'm promoted to knight and given power armor? one fuckign quest? holy shit. I mean com one guys. I THEN did built LIBERTY PRIME before helping the railroad all the way until i had to help the synths escape, then SIDED WITH THE INSTITUTE and murdered everyone. I mean these people let me stand next to their leaders with a fucking mini-nuke out. Loved walking into the railroad in bos paladin armor with dance, and I LOVED hanging arround the BOS airship with Nice. I mean what the fuck game?
3: Even on survival I was basically invincible after level 25. Weave army fatigues with weave cap with sturdy polymer combat armor is fucking crazy. Power armor makes the game trivially easy, as long as you invest in some water purifiers.
4: Semi-auto rifles are just the best weapon group in the game. Super ammo efficient, everything can be one, every ammo type. One or two points in the scavenger perk, and the rest in the building perks and lifegivver basically made me never use a single stimpack. I did the last mission without even using a stimpack. Just murdered bitches with the gauss rifle.
5: Storyline was random and shit. WHAT IS THE INSTITUTE DOING WITH SYNTHS AT ALL? why is the railroad so stupid? why does the brotherhood hate sentient things that want to help them like ghouls?
overall game is a 7/10. fun, but too easy, bad roleplay mechanics, shallow RPG mechanics, and a lolwut storyline. Cant wait for NewVegas2 for a better game in every way.

You were stuck to doing x2 damage on a sneak attack crit, only on [Hidden] status.
Now you can get 6.3x damage on a sneak attack, even on [Caution]. Get the Deliverer and you can vomit like 10 shots on an enemy before you lose the sneak attack bonus.

I know KLEO sells one of those, but I found one randomly. I put 3 into demolition perk and Im using the missile launcher a shit ton more in FO4 than I ever did in 3 or NV.
THE MURICA launcher in NV was too weak and had insane recoil, so I stopped using that thing early on.
I've been loving the heat seeking attachment for it, too, makes defending settlements really nice with targeting sensors on Power armor.

FNV is much more of an RPG, attributes, skills, and perks are integrated into dialog, the damage/ammo system is much more fleshed out, there are multiple endings depending on what faction you pick (because todd "gotta play em all" howard wasn't in charge) so there is great replay-ability, and many more guns with mods. F3 is a lot of fun if you put ~40 hours into it but the exploring and then killing ghouls/raiders/muties gets boring very quick because there is little enjoyable quest content.

In reality the fallout games are never really addressing the issue with why civilization isn't able to rebuilt when all the tools and resources are there. Hell, they choose to have a pile of trash inside their homes for no good reason just so the game will have that post-apocalyptic style.
This is why it's a game and not really based on realism. In reality the world would either completely die out after a full scale nuclear war due to nuclear winter and all that, or civilization would rebuild quickly

I've never had my settlements attacked by raiders. I have multiple settlements averaging between 8-15 settlers each but they never get attacked. I always hear people complaining about getting attacked too often and i'm really confused. I feel like i'm doing something wrong or theres a bug. How do you know when your place is getting raided?

After I first played FO3 I played NV and felt it was superior. Time passed and I went back and forth between both of them for many playthroughs and then felt FO3 was superior. Slightly before the release of I have somewhere around 1.3k hours combined on both of them and determined that they are basically equal, with FO3 having slightly higher replay value and better exploration and FONV having slightly better writing and quests.
FO3's greatest strength is that Megaton is a central quest-hub that allows you to go basically any direction from it and with quest-lines that will take you to immediately interesting places or at least give you some options. Regardless of the complete insanity that is the premise of the town (building next to a nuclear bomb), it is a decent quest hub. The currents of the game allow you to go basically anywhere from the start without facing resistance until you go extremely far from spawn. The early game is very free, the mid-game is fairly free, and the endgame is pretty rigidly fixed.
Meanwhile, FONV is very much on rails for the first part of the game and quests have definite level expectations. It is a tour of quest hubs until the game finally opens up. However, as your proceed to endgame, it becomes rigidly locked. All of the factions basically have the same quests (Meet Boomers, Meet BoS, Meet Khans, Deal With Other Faction/House). However, the mid game has huge amounts of content and all quests feel like they have several resolutions which then feel meaningful.
The Map of FO3 is actually way superior to NV, just due to how much of the map NV forces you through early. The towns of NV are superior both in amount and in their actual value.
They're both great games and both have pretty rail-roaded parts to them.
