Every time.
Bought the Logitech MX Masters hoping I could use the sidescroll wheel for strafe up/down. Neither Star Citizen nor Erectile Dysfunction recognize the wheel as an analog input or even as a fucking digital key. I think no game at all recognizes it. Anyone got any idea how to make it work?

Why do ships experience atmosphere-like turbulence while flying through space?
>>123558013
>turbulance
That's him piloting, not wind pushing him around. The sound? It just makes it feel "cool".
>>123558075
But you can see the ship shaking violently, or rather it looks like the station is shaking violently because the perspective is attached to the ship.
>>123558013

>>123558189
Well, I would assume because it makes it feel more relateable. It's the same with having any sound in space. I honestly don't mind.
>>123557995
trying right now thanks, the mouse came with special software but it only allows me to bind windows functions to the buttons and wheels not remap them freely.
>>123558189
>But you can see the ship shaking violently
One of the best things about travel in E:D is that shaking.
It gives the experience weight instead of it just feeling like weightless sliding around even though that would be more realistic.
>>123558321
Right now I'm not on my rig, but look carefully, one of those binds is for mapping ot to any key, combo or timed sequence

already did it, I think no one is even trying it to use as a gaming mouse. I found a program called X-Mouse Button control, that recognizes the horizontal scroll wheel as Tilt Wheel left and right. I can bind a simulated keystroke on them so I bound r and f to it. It works in browsers and all but Star Citizen still won't accept it. baka desu senpai thanks for trying to help though

>Would be cool if they add something like directional mic for it
what the fuck are you talking about
>>123563030
Are you blind?
It looks completely different.
The engines are closer together.
The engines themselves have little collars on them.
All the intake bits are different (literally copied from the Retaliator).
The center of the ship has lost it's chunkiness and is more 'aerodynamic' like the Tali.
They took the Vanguard rough model and then squished it into a Retaliator clone, trading all it's aggressiveness for shitty space plane dynamics and that AWFUL paint job.
How is this game different from all the other popular space games like EVE Online or Elite Dangerous? Both have been out for years now.
>>123562975
It doesn't matter, they will have to force its niche, as information will always travel faster through real world internet than through the in-game wormholes.

The game looks good but was unbelievably boring. It lacks so much content that i find it hard to even justify spending 20 dollars for it.
As far as SC is going right now it will have plenty more content by PU alpha 3.0 (or whatever they call the next big update)

there is, if I would melt them down I would lose LTI and also not every ship is available all the time, getting the tokens right now will make sure I'll be able to swap when I want until they make the tokens invalid. Which will take a couple of years considering how slow the development process is to be honest. Maybe they will never get invalidated since, some of them actually cost money and it would be crazy bad PR if they just invalidate some CCU someone forgot to apply after he bought it.
Oh! I suddenly remembered this exists. Haven't been here for a long time. I even have a ship in it as a "thanks for Freelancer, sorry for pirating it". So how is the game coming along?
>>123571435
Fuck there goes my wallet.
Now I need to finally work out what to do with all these ships I don't want.
I have:
325a with my original backer LTI on it
Mustang Beta with not much on it
Reliant LTI
Cutlass Blue with 2 years insurance
The only ships out of those I really want are the Reliant and the Cutlass Blue, though if I start melting and CCUing I guess having some form of multicrew ship would be really nice.

I guess I could also melt the NEET Mustang and buy an m50 with the spare, but I'm worried they'll never fix it and just keep nerfing the poor thing forever. One advantage of my current ridiculous set up of ships I don't like is all the options I get in Arena Commander: A Mustang, an Aurora, a Cutlass and an 325a.
If I had known we'd eventually get a system like this I never would have got this Cutlass Blue
I didn't miss anything did I? Also: Fuck why is the Caterpillar so arkwardly priced, it should have been 5bucks more expensive.
>>123571247
The Starfarer has more utility and better defenses, the Hull-C has the mass-shipping advantage, and the Delta is a fun as fuck fighter to fly. For what you want to do, if you bought a Hull-B, that makes it a choice between the Hull-C and the Starfarer.
Due to the weapons setup of the Starfarer, and the ability to switch roles from a refueler to a freighter, or even a hardened freighter if you manage to get your hands on a Starfarer-G, or the missile pod frontal attachment, the Starfarer has the most options available to you in-universe.
So if you want options: Starfarer.
If you want to haul everything possible: Hull-C.
If you want to be able to fly a glass fighter around: Delta.

>>123591003
Have you seen the money the game makes recently? Stay gely, Derek.
>The Org Chart has Chris at the helm, but for all his glory and power at CIG, he very much seems at the mercy of Sandi's demands. The mechanisms of her control over him are kind of irrelevant-- however that control was/is attained, she's got it, and wields it incredibly effectively. Because Chris does what she wants, even when it causes him grief (letting Wingman go, apparently) or familial tension (Sandi making demands of Erin?), embarrassment ("you're not going to just let the Escapist and those traitor $&%#'s get away with this are you, Chris?! ARE YOU?! WRITE A LETTER and DEFEND ME!!!")
>The re-centralization in Santa Monica and gutting of Austin made no business sense-- it was absolutely a huge waste of backer money and time. Real estate, dev talent, employee costs of living are all much pricier there-- yet it served Sandi's purposes of making herself the Star of Star Citizen and of rebooting that acting career she never quite managed to get off the ground.
>One of the ironies of this is that she all but admits that their marriage itself came about as a result of her as a young, hungry Aussie actress flipping through the proverbial Australian Movie Industry phone book and find Chris's name as the Boy Wonder Director with a Costner project underway at Ascendant Studios. If he'd been at Descendant Pictures, she might've gone after some other director at a film company that started with "B"-- and Star Citizen, its hour never arriving, wouldn't be slouching towards Beta to be stillborn...

It will have powered armour.
Light types, suitable for boarding action.
The heaviest thing possible might eventually end up like some sort of Terminator armor, optimized for boarding actions and locking down corridors.

We could see something bigger later that's more suited to military operations on the ground. The UEE Army is described as "highly mechanized" but they don't see much action since the UEE hasn't had any ground wars since the Tevarin Wars hundreds of years before the game takes place
I just upgraded the Avenger Stalker I had from the begining of time to a EMP meme variant.
And they don't allow me to just put the old Avenger with an empty cargo hold in the hangar.
I don't even get a replacement Avenger to fuck around with in AC.
Kinda sucks. I feel lonely without a penguin.
>>123617926
For some later update with more ground combat, yeah, it would be really fucking awesome to have ODST-like guys jumping out of dropships, and Marauder suits being launched from ships in orbit in their drop pods.
Avenger Stalker or EMP? Stalker seems more straightforward but EMP sounds like a lot of fun

can a freelancer navigate small jump points?
>>123621563
still a thing
aside from the "tevaarin boarding craft" that hasn't been named yet, it's the only one that's had that idea specifically mentioned.
I would bet on it though. you will still have to disable the other ship's engines first, one ship can't attach to another while they're both moving, it's an engine limitation that they're not even going to attempt to solve.
>>123565315
this is bait
>>123622076
Still, it sounds like a lot of fun. I really want to play the support role for a small pirate gang. A bunch of other pirates fly around and disable some larger ships while I hide in waiting behind an asteroid, then once the ship is disabled, I move in, latch on, and we begin the looting.
>>123621835
I think I remember hearing that only single seater ships will be able to navigate the smallest jump points.

>>123676240
The Avenger is kinda comfy inside, it actually has two rooms in there, one with a bed and another for storage. Look at videos on youtube of people looking at it in their hangar if you are interested. I personally hate how the ship looks on the outside but its nice inside.
The 300 series probably won't be massively rebalanced, but hopefully they will fix some of the terrible design decisions for the interior.
What don't you like about your Mustang Beta? What do you want different?

That does not exist, and the Constellation/Retaliator cannot be lone-wolfed effectively. The retaliator is primarily a heavy torpedo bomber. Try attacking a ship without anyone in your turrets. Literally a single Aurora could destroy you, and you have no primary weapons. The constellation? More ability to lone-wolf since it has primary weapons, but if even an aurora gets behind you, you're fucked. Can both ships fly? Yes, they require one pilot, but going alone is an all around horrible idea, and I wouldn't call that any kind of lone-wolfing.
>>123671458
Well under that definition, probably the Caterpillar.
>>123676427
I'd love some exploration variant for the Avenger, that would be perfect.
I'm comparing it with the 315p right now, and they're very similar, with perfect specs for what I want, however, its interior is terrible.
The beta has a perfect comfy interior, but zero storage capacity and I don't think I would be able to keep it as a viable backup.
Do we know about a possible 315p interior redesign or averger exploration variant?
>>123678603
Honestly for your price range you are not going to get a great explorer ship. You are looking at the starter ship bracket. I'd just stick with what you have, and work up to getting a Freelancer in game, and fit it with exploration components.
>>123678603
With the way things are going, 'exploration variants' might be a thing of the past.
Want to explore in your Avenger?
Great! You've got a full sized bed, and an oversized cargo area that we know can be filled to the point where you can't get out that way. Fill it with a fuel tank, maybe even wing drop tanks that replace the missile pylons. Original Avenger had drop tanks there in the first place.
Replace some of the internal components that we know are entirely replacable with heavier grade sensors, engines with high efficiency versions, and hey presto, exploration ship.
By the time exploration is even a full fledged profession, I think we'll see this kind of thing.
Not like the 315p isn't exactly that; a 300i with components

>>123680592
>and then realize that they basically skipped most of the game progression and will get bored after a few months while they have it all.
You know that the entire pitch is that ships won't be a method of progression, right
and they'll all have their pros and cons
and that ship equipment is several times more expensive than the hull itself
>>123668729
i wish your true wasn't meme
>>123679067
I don't think any of the smallest ships will be that great at anything but short range exploration, you need to get to the Freelancer tier for a true dedicated explorer.
You are right though, components are what matter, you'll be able to mix and match and swap in components that do what you want to do.
To that anon, just go for the ship you like the most.

>>123681323
I don't plan on playing a game that isn't fun and you get bored of in a week if you don't have something new.
The gameplay itself should be reward enough. If it isn't, thats a failure of a game.
>>123681449
The idea isn't to get something new every week. Stop moving the goalposts. Much like earning new guns and weapon customizations (skins, barrels, scopes, etc) in FPS games is generally seen as the main progression, SC has the ability to earn ships with customizations (colors, components, upgrade slots, etc).
The same as an FPS, you have fun while completing objectives, but there's no point if there's no goal to aim towards, like weapons and customizations. In SC, the gameplay will be fun, but if there's no goal like ships and customizations, it will get boring to most eventually.
>>123681449
You're going to miss the progression aspect, no matter what, I find it a very rewarding and fun part in any game, it's ok if you don't, but don't bullshit.
>>123682147
>Much like earning new guns and weapon customizations (skins, barrels, scopes, etc) in FPS games is generally seen as the main progression
>you have fun while completing objectives, but there's no point if there's no goal to aim towards, like weapons and customizations
>The reason the FPS industry is absolutely shit, summed up in two sentences
Yeah, nah. The most popular FPS games on the planet are free from that absolute cancer, and are still popular.
Know why? Because they don't rely on grinding away for skins, they have fun gameplay. If you're relying on 'progression' to keep your users hooked, your game is shit.
Hi, I've been a distant observer to this game but I MIGHT be willing to put some dosh down
The KRUGER P-72 ARCHIMEDES - LTI caught my attention since it seems rather cheap for lifetime insurance
Or should I just play It safe and get an Aurora?
OR play it even more safe and just go back to watching how this shit turns out
>>123682720
The P-72 is a standalone ship.
the reason its so cheap is that it isn't a game package.
>>123682720
If you don't own the game yet you need a package. You can either grab one of the limited $30 packs or a LN package.
Only get the P-72 if you want to upgrade it to something else to get LTI on it. It's also worthless on its own since it doesn't have a jump drive and needs a carrier ship.

M50 isn't as well armed as a A-Wing. If it wasn't for the price point I'd call it a TIE Fighter, since it moves fast, but if you hit it, it shatters.

Dude, these ships are in a constant state of change. They're being tweaked and revisioned every fucking day. How can we possibly answer what looks 'good' to you?
Remember, that's all this is, theorycrafting and what looks decent on paper. Even shit as simple as the flight model change from 1.3 to 2.0 has created new definitions on what these ships are, or can do.
I can't answer these questions because no one has the answers to them, just their opinions based on old versions of shit that won't even exist once the game is out.
You have to buy these ships based on nothing but your own desires. Look at the in-game fluff lore about them, watch a few youtubes of people flying around with them, or, better yet, actually fly them using the REC system in-game. These "wut shud i buy lolz?" questions can never give you what you want, because we don't even know what the fuck is happening anymore.
>>123703925
>Panther and Bengal are capital ships you can't own
It's still 5 ships made by RSI but it would be nice if we had more ships we could own from RSI, they are supposed to be a common brand in the persistent universe, it would be weird to just see connies, auroras and orions.

The IFCS / flight model changes were anything but minor, anon. They were absolutely massive.
>>123704824
There's a lot of classes of ship we haven't seen yet. Corvettes, Light Cruisers, Cruisers, Battlecruisers, Battleships, and so on. RSI apparently has a big market in big ships.

Considering buying a ship. Is the 315p a good ship for cargo and shootin' as a fighter and explorer?
>>123720420
It is basically good at none of that so far. Unless by "cargo" you mean "handbag." It's sort of okay at fighting at best, and we don't know enough about exploring yet, but I'm not sure you can fit a good enough sensor suite to really do that well, either.

>>123721161

>>123720996
You can get an LTI Archimedes and upgrade it immediately into whatever ship you want. Unless you want a package, in which case you're shit out of luck with insurance.
>>123720420
It's a bit fragile, and while it does carry some cargo, it's capacity smaller than any other ship besides the 300i and ships with no cargo at all.
>>123720996
You could pick up an Avenger or Herald. The Avenger can carry some cargo and the Herald should be able to mount somewhat decent sensors because it's a ship focused on electronics.

>>123721463
I heard the guns on the avengers suck ass. True? It also doesn't have a jump drive?
>>123721553
That is exactly what it means. You'd have to buy that separately.
>>123721681
>It also doesn't have a jump drive?
All ships have a jump drive, or are capable of mounting them, other than the parasite fighters - P-52, P-72, etc.
Avenger's main gun is the highest DPS gun in the game, but its not built to have the highest overall firepower.
>>123721670
>unless they change that down the road
Yeah, once stuff is being released the'll split up S42 and the PU, so new backers have to buy them separately.
Source: Gamestar interview
>>123721681
The main gun of the Avenger is pretty good. However, the two side guns on the wings are currently stuck as suckerpunches in the baby PU, and are therefore absolutely useless.

>This game really seems to Jew the money out of people who have a budget.
Not really, the $30 packages that were sold this week all came with both PU access and SQ42.
You can buy an Aurora game package for like $45 at any time.
Cheaper than most AAA titles
if I buy a package does that mean the ship insurance starts when I first boot up the game or when the game is out of beta?
>>123721854
Everything in the store aside from skins and shit maybe will be obtainable in game so $45 for a game this size is a bargain since going by AAA standards, this should be about $100 + a subscription cost or yearly expansion pass and exclusive content locked behind paywalls that isn't simply cosmeticSC could still become like that but backing now will likely allow you to avoid most of it rather than buying it after it gets through the beta stage
>>123722282
When its out of beta.
>>123722282

Insurance is also stated in game time, which means, as of the last post about it, 1 month real time = 3 months game time or something I think
>>123722459
>1 month game time = months game time
So it's basically like a one month subscription if you have only 4 months insurance
>>123722923

>>123722319
Nigga this game is creeping into a f2p/p2w model like war thunder where everything is technically free because you can gain premium currency from wagers (rewarded for consecutive logins) but takes a disgusting amount of grinding to get without paying. Though at least you keep what you unlock in WT.
FFS we're only allowed to try the ships we "pledged for" (but when we point out the ship we paid for has been made shit, its suddenly we "donated for the development ships are just a bonus") and they eventually, and very begrudgingly, made a RENTAL system for gear in AC, like they're fucking NEXON.

>This game really seems to Jew the money out of people who have a budget

It's pretty hard to jew money out of people who have a fixed amount of money that they feel like spending on a game. Just buy a $45 pack and worry about getting bigger ships when the game comes out in full and you don't have to spend another dime on it.This is coming from a guy who has blown $920 on this game. I don't regret it, but my advice to you is to back the game for the game, and not for a shiny concept ship.
>>123721553
A package means you own a copy of the game. You can own a $500 ship and still not be able to play the game if you don't own a package. Squadron 42 comes with game packages until the end of the year. After that it's supposedly becoming a game all of its own with a separate price of admission and all.

Upgraded a Delta to a Gladiator todaybecause I failed the skill check. Really like how it flies. Drifts a lot, but it feels like I'm in control of where it's going. Also even without missiles it's an incredibly stable gun platform that doesn't twitch around when maneuvering. They really nailed the flight model for it.
Or did I fuck up and the Delta is actually better after getting used to it?

>>123726378
You should have probably got an SH.
Gameplay related question time for those who have Alpha:
Is the acceleration from combat to cruise speed significantly different between ship types and sizes? Like the M50 and 300R can go from zero to sanic faster than a Constellation or Hornet right?
Is there any hope sticks and throttles will play nicely with the new display screen functionality similar to ED? I know it isn't supposed to be quick for combat and it's basically a preferences thing, but like every action in the game it looks clunky. Especially when you can't see the extra screens like in the Retaliator without switching to head tracking.
I hope it grows to extend to ship functionality like they said it should. So then you can avoid binding non-essential things like landing gear and lights to valuable keys and simply navigate to the switch or button in to do so in the actual cockpit.

>>123726707
>Is there any hope sticks and throttles will play nicely with the new display screen functionality similar to ED?
Very little to none, its very much reliant on a few analog-input elements that are very clunky using the stick.
However, the quick keybinds that already exist cover most of what is on the immediately-available HUD, the lower-down in-detail stuff isn't meant for combat usage.
>>123727062
>also I like explosions
You mean you like seeing flairs and missiles go away? Think of this: In the advance of 2.0, things are just going to get larger and closer to what the PU will be. In a gladiator or retaliator where you have 4 - 5 torps, what are you going to do if they miss? They're expensive and easy to dodge. Given that the Gladiator has forward facing guns, have something like a SH would probably be more beneficial for regular combat. If you were going out to bomb some specific ship, the bobmers obviously would be crucial, but in regular battles fighters would be the better option. If you are a scrub and can't handle fast vehicles, you'll probably need a Vanguard.

I highly doubt they'll keep flares and chaff the way they are currently as almighty god defences. Missiles should be able to reject countermeasure signatures and opponents should need to dispense more than just 1 or 2 to decoy a missile.
Torpedoes are also for use on larger ships that can't maneuver as well, they don't get decoyed since they aren't guided, or at least they shouldn't be/will have unguided options.
>>123727709
So you know how the SC economy will work with all of the job types, and that you can say that it isn't an actual economy?

>>123727824
Or, alternatively, violent, unpredictable movement in addition to flare or chaff should be a guaranteed escape, not simply the act of shitting out the proper countermeasure.
>>123727573
>what are you going to do if they miss
Try to fire up cruise mode or die probably. Also like >>123727824 said, the Gladiator and Retaliator currently have big missiles instead of unguided torps.
Of course a fighter would be more useful in most situations, but I just don't like flying them. I prefer slower, tankier ships, which is why I also have a Vanguard.
>>123728028
Ask away.
:^)
>>123728035
For missiles that have a lot of inertia sure, but a missile will always be able to sustain more Gs than a person in the cockpit of a ship so unpredictable movement shouldn't be able to decoy all missiles. It's more of a game than a sim though so I can see them making it possible to evade almost any missile except ones that do minimal damage maybe with maneuvering.
>>123728028
It's well known production of items will not be player controlled. No crafting, only 'overclocking' which like flight control is likely to be mediocre
That's enough to be totally different
>>123723650
Picked up one of the 30 dollar Aurora package deals for a friend. And got myself a package and a Constellation for myself. All in all, 300 dollars spent on Star Citizen, but after having played WoW for 5 years, what's 300 bucks?
>>123728384
If it works like the other games Chris Roberts has helmed, the hardest to avoid missiles will also do the least damage. What we have now is anything but, unfortunately, with all missiles pretty much fucking you right up regardless if they even get close. Forgetting the chaff/flare button in mid-flight is instant death, even if you try to dodge like a maniac. Except sometimes, when the missiles forget what they were doing randomly and unpredictably, sometimes mere moments after they're fired.
>>123728384
It seems like any time I launch a missile at someone they just evade it.
Every time someone launches a missile at me I just evade it.
If it's a heat seeker, just start popping flares and head off in a straight line.
If it's an electronic missile, dump chaff, then turn and burn
Missiles are borderline useless unless you sneak up on someone who is already in a dogfight.

He isn't going to like this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyWijRL9VfA
>>123729083
Yeah, from what I recall of freelancer the missiles worked fine in that, although you could also carry retarded amounts of them I think. I doubt they're doing much balancing right now though as they have a lot of other things which take a much higher level of priority. Balance and fine tweaking of weapon behaviour can happen once they've got the PU functioning and the ships implemented and updated.
>>123729193
The way missiles are right now is you only have to drop 1 flare or 1 chaff and it has a 100% chance of decoying the missile, you don't even need to maneuver. I can't see them keeping it that way.

>>123731753
I'm not sure if you can actually upgrade them, so I made sure to end up with a Harbinger and it's supposedly "high power lasers." So at least there's that. I still hate that they chopped the Vanguard up into three ships that each do a portion of what the Vanguard was billed as.
>Vanguard has 4 S2s(max) and 1 S5(max)

>potential for E-war, a few weaker torps, and has a turret with 2 S2s

>metric fucktons of a variety of missiles
>Potential for decent cargo carrying, 2 turrets with dual S1s, eventually larger shields, longer range(?), and has a snub fighter
>maneuverability is OK according to >>123729314
Maybe the Vanguard can make up in more maneuverability or something, but currently it looks like an Andromeda might outclass it. Perhaps the damage output from S4 to S5 is 150% or something.
It certainly can't stay like it is right now though. The Connie is powerful, has an extra fighter, and can carry decent cargo.
>>123733349
>It certainly can't stay like it is right now though.
Stay what like right now? The Vanguard isn't in the game. You're comparing stats and performance in flux to a thing that literally doesn't exist to verify or experience.
Calm the fuck down forumjockey.
>>123733508
But the constellation and SH are. Something about one of them will have to change drastically. The constellation has ok maneuverability - enough to mostly keep an SH in front of it, and apparently the Vanguard is supposed to be less maneuverable than a hornet. This means that either the S5 gun is suped-up to hell to compensate, or the constellation will move a lot slower, thus making any future, large ships a lot slower than what they could have been in relation to our first 2 multicrew ships.
You can make inferences based on unknowns if you have the information surrounding it.

To be honest, the displays are sort of hard to get used to, and display absolutely everything, including landing platforms, other pilots, the station itself if you're near one, and what feels like a half dozen other dots that serve no purpose. All of these are colored and shaped the same on the radar regardless of whether you've targeted them.
If you're unlucky, your helmet HUD has also vanished into the aether, so you don't know how fast you're going, you don't get the arrow to the target (provided you actually managed to target the person shooting at you, which is another ordeal), and you don't have targeting reticules.
If you don't manage to target the guy who's firing at you, a lot of the help the game gives you just doesn't seem to show up in 2.0.

A) PTU isn't nearly stable enough for that to happen regularly
B) Connies aren't fucking anyone up, they're getting wasted by single Hornets
>>123761715
Shit.
So is there at least duos of pilot and gunner killing Connies and laughing at their victims?
>>123761810
Theres videos of a single Hornet going Connie/Retaliator hunting, getting multiple kills by himself, and he isn't really that good.
Or rather, it doesn't take much to do, at least.
>>123761858
And I guess none of the guys doing videos have any skill, right?
I wish there was a scrub/gud tagging system to make it easier to search for competent players.
Fucking let's players.

What is its capacity like as a straight freighter, not for fuel? It's so much sexier than the Hulls with their weird spindles.
I know this triggers some of the sensitive fags here, but it's the closest to the Firefly ship of anything yet revealed.

>>123762032
I'm not sure, but probably not a lot. Why do looks matter when the Hulls are superior in every way for carrying dry-goods? They can make serious bank doing that, and their method of carrying cargo is one of the most efficient ways.

>>123762179
What were you expecting?
>>123762032
Something in the mid 3000s, compared to the Hull C's 4600 units.
>>123762280
HULL series is superior at pure carrying capacity, but vastly inferior at defending themselves, meaning they require escorts.
Its a matter of if you're going to make more profit in a Freelancer with no escort, Starfarer with light escort, or HULL with heavy escort, the nature of your cargo, and the area you're going through, as well as the JP you'll be using.
Calling HULLs most efficient isn't strictly true.

and the obvious weak point of the spindle is going to be arbitrarily made super durable.
For fucks sake they spent so much time simulating shit with thrusters so damage and cargo can have emergent effects only to arbitrarily limit the ships.
>>123762179
What happened here?
>>123762280
A hull b carry twice as much as a Freelancer but offer no protection on its own. Hulls will be pirates favorite prey.
>>123762280
>be attacked
>cargo will take most of the damages once the shields are down
Closed ships have less carrying capacity most of the time but they offer this extra protection of the goods.

Can the 1000x folded blades be used to ram other ships more efficiently? And I also guess that the vanduul ships will always attack in group of at least 10 if they are this weak.

>>123762445
I find it hard to believe that the Starfarer can carry more than half of what the Hull C can carry.
>>123685223
Can this be OP pic?
>>123763253
>I believe that's how it's supposed to be?
and that's why they are not superior in any way for carrying dry-goods. Sometimes they are good and sometimes there are better options.
>>123763403
They have more carrying capacity, therefore they are better at carrying dry-goods than a Starfarer. Whether a pirate decides to attack a retarded Hull or Starfarer pilot that didn't get an escort has no impact on the carrying capacity of either ship. The Starfarer would mainly do fueling stuff, which is alright imo. The entire body was built around that, with the large fuel scoops and processor and the fuel rod. But the Hull C, or the entire hull series, was built around cargo (or the cargo was built around it!), and is has dedicated hardware for doing so, which is basically the entire ship.
>>123763641
That's just 1 example for a specific situation. I can easily see a situation where I would prefer a Freelancer over a Hull B for transport of goods to provide another example. Then we got the BMM. Starfarer G or Starliner for when you need to tank a lot of damage. Sometimes you may want a cargo ship with a good scanner. etc
>>123726173
>Solo-esque
If the PTU has proven anything it's that a solo connie is FUCKED against most fighters. Wallet warriors literally getting BTFO.
I'm so god damn excited to kill these people and steal their ships. I think I might actually get a boner while doing so.
>>123763861
Your preference does not change the numbers of cargo carrying capacity. The entire discussion was about the Starfarer carrying dry cargo compared to the Hull series (primarily Hull C, since they're about the same size). The bottom line is that they were both designed around 2 different philosophies - 1 built with cargo in mind, and 1 built with fuel in mind. The Hull C obviously can carry dry goods better than the Starfarer, and that's OK. The Hull C cannot process or distribute fuel, which was the selling point of the Starfarer. They were built with different jobs in mind, so one will do something better than the other, and vice versa. I don't even understand how this is an issue.
Also, new thread when?

>>123764295
>Your preference does not change the numbers of cargo carrying capacity.
That is not relevant. I'm telling you that there is more to being a good cargoship than the amount of CU.
>The entire discussion was about the Starfarer carrying dry cargo compared to the Hull series
