Regardless, I was working on the fic a bit more and I think the beginning is a bit too long for a fapfic. No action yet and I already had two whole parts filled.
Should I just delete it and try to find a faster way to cut to the action or keep going? This is honestly somewhat fun but I think i'm doing too much to try and explain why the characters are doing what they're doing.

I think both of them can have an extreme amount of depth.>Tails: There's literally three ways you can take him in the comics. You can either put him as a genius mechanic who surpasses Eggman in a thing or two. You can have him be Sonic v2.0 in spirit essentially and whenever he isn't around for some reason he'd take his role. Finally you could go with the whole ace pilot thing and make him be the best fighter in the sky.

Tails is usually humble about what he does until he's bored and feels like he isn't doing enough to help.
Miles acts all high and mighty but runs away with his tails between his legs as soon as something steps up to him.I think what ultimately sold the deal with me disliking him though was him being an unreasonable douchebag towards Tails for no other reason other than to be one. At least Scourge (albeit cliche) has a reason to be a jackass.

I doubt the treatment is needed to keep them working. More than likely, it's a whole Deus Ex deal where her body rejects the cybernetics. I also noticed she asked Bunny if she had to take medication in the past tense, implying that perhaps she only needs to continue treatment for a little while until her body acclimates to the cybernetics.

Here's my whole take on the open world thing.
Don't have a open world. Have open levels and stages. I don't think Sonic has taken the 3D aspects to its full potential. Lost World was a step in the right direction but ultimately felt lack luster. Why not have stages have multiple paths and ways to the goal? Why not take what happened in S3&K and put it in 3D? Have Tails and Knuckles be selectable for stages as well and give them unique paths that the others can't take. That'd add a shit ton of replayablity and offer more enjoyment to those who want to play as someone other than Sonic.
Unfortunately I believe that would be too much to ask for from any developer. A shame.

While they're holding up Bunnie, Cassia's cybernetics are going to start failing and she'll be struggling blindly. Bunnie will escape just as Clove arrives at the base and finds her sister all fucked up and claiming that Bunnie stole an Emerald from them. She'll then assume Sally chose to not only be a sneaky cunt and hurt her soldiers anyway to get what she wants, but that the Freedom Fighters intentionally hurt her sister and will hold a grudge that keeps her from ever choosing to switch sides.

Except all that drama had sound reason and was in character. Cassia hasn't shown any outright ire toward Bunny, especially since Bunny bothered to help her after getting injured. Also, she hasn't really been a brat, just headstrong. There's no reason to believe she would be vindictive. Clove has always been cautious and reasonable, thinking things through before doing something. Clove has shown herself to be the type of person to logically figure things out in order to best help her family, not overreact to things. Even if she did overreact, she would at least ask the guards and/or Cassia what happened. Cassia hasn't been shown to be a liar, and, as I said before, we have no reason to believe she'd be vindictive, so she would honestly tell what happened. The guards would say that Cassia left soon after Clove upon discovering a weird energy signature (which Clove would logically conclude to be the emerald), then came back being supported by Bunny (which they could clearly see).
Not to mention, your theory is based on the assumptions that:
A. Cassia is dangerously close to not receiving her treatment on time
B. Not receiving said treatment will immediately cause something horrible to happen
Neither of which we have indication of aside from one comment from Clove about the former.
