I don't have many Magmar cards beyond Twin Fang x2, but you don't need anything special. I mostly just stick in a lot of cheap efficient pump targets, pump cards and boilerplate spells. You hold onto Twin Fang until you have a stable board position, then play it and throw your minions it stuff. It lets you turn an unremarkable board position into a nightmare, since your opponent will have to choose between avoiding combat or risk taking massive damage.

It's gotten me to rank 8 so far. I'll probably remove some of it when I get some more of the cards I want, but until then I've kind of come to terms with just getting dicked by board clears. It rarely happens though because my games are always a rush for board control so my wraithlings die really quickly. Made a post last thread about my deck and shit so I'm not going back over that but Shadowdancers are huge dispel bait apparently.

You get gold from daily quests, winning 2 games, and doing the tutorial training things. Packs are 100 gold and have 5 cards, one being guaranteed rare or better. Game has decent variety, but there are class exclusive cards and some cards are straight up better than others.

You play matches and complete missions/quests earn in-game gold, which can be used to purchase orbs (i.e. packs).
There are six different playabale factions, and each faction has its own exclusive cardpool. There's a large swath of neutral cards that can be played as well, but ultimately, the faction you pick determines many of the cards available to you; you can't mix-and-match factions.

As a card game vet, the variety is actually really good, especially considering the relatively small card pool. Multiple builds with every faction, lots of variety within those builds. It could be that the game is still in its infancy but either way I'm pleased with it.
And I'd wager that most people here are completely f2p or have spent very little on the game at most. Game's a lot easier to get into than other online card games I know of.Unless you like Vet.

If I was going to cut things for Rejuvenators I might cut the Scarabs over Obelysk/Orbs. Replacing a three drop with a four drop weakens the deck early, but there's much less of a difference between four mana and five because you can't play ether on your opening turn.

Each faction has its own distinct mechanics, and there are other card mechanics that intersect cleanly with the turn-based strategy gameplay. Check that Getting Started link in the OP for a short primer and the different factions.

I use a Skull Servant deck in Yugioh because I like being able to bring back cards constantly, and making a looming threat of a stupid powerful beat stick. I also just like skeletons. In MtG I was using a population deck for awhile, and while I liked it I wouldn't call it a favorite. I'm too poor to try many other MtG options though.
I like a lot of things, just no burn decks, and I want my opponent to have fun too.

Burn with a gimmick is fine. Like I recently made a deck on Dueling Network that has every card either flip a coin, roll a dice, or have my opponent guess. Basically everything is a game of chance. It can only really win through burn, but it doesn't feel like a burn deck.It's also incredibly shit

The card pool is limited for now, but it allows for enough different deck archetypes and win conditions that it's sufficient for now for casual play. The meta was figured out fairly quickly (as expected, a lot of people are invested in the game already) so there are three / four top tournament decks.
If you're coming from card games, you might have the gut instinct that card draw is important. It's not - your maximum hand size is six, you draw two cards at the end of each turn and you can replace one card in your hand with a card from the deck per turn. If an effect forces you to draw a card when your hand is full, the card is simply lost. Hand consistency is therefore pretty high compared to Hearthstone and MTG.
Keep in mind that positioning is a very important aspect of the game, and that careful bodyblocking can mean the difference between win or loss.
Unless you have a finely tuned gameplan in mind, it's worth stocking 3 Repulsor Beasts (enter the battlefield effect of sending an adjacent minion to any space on the battlefield) and 3 Ephemereal Shrouds (enter the battlefield effect of removing all abilities and gained bonuses from an adjacent minion), they are of incredible value.

Might as well go all out and make sure that I always get to play my full mana every turn. Hell, I wouldn't be upset if the game wasn't innately penalizing you for putting your back against a wall preventing backstabs, but if you put a minion there then they can just remove it and continue backstabbing with the price of slightly delaying your victory since they used a reanimator and maybe a damage spell to get rid of your card. If you put something 2 or less health then they just attack it with their general and still do 400 damage to you.

That's how you're supposed to beat Songhai: force them to realize their weakness with board control by overwhelming them with board presence and cutting off any avenues of escape. If you play abyss, I once play against a guy that run shadow nova, that spell that does 2 damage and heal the general and a shitload of taunts and healers.

i'm actually running a lot of low cost minions, but it's been working for me. i can generally get a lot on the board and the few scions third wish help mitigate running out of things to play, although not as much as i'd like i guess. i usually run into problems if the game drags on too long
i feel like your ideal deck would have the opposite problem. great if you make it into late game, but not much pressure early on, allowing your opponent to get a strong footing, and little to no contest for the free mana. i feel like, if it was me, i'd drop the silhouette tracers and ethereal obelysk, and trade them for healing mystics and whatever other 1 or 2 minion you like.
i'd also cut back on the blindscorches and probably dominate will at least. you have 14 spells and 5 artifacts, 19/39. so less than half of your deck is actually minions. all conjecture, but i think you'd be lacking a lot of presence on the board. hope my shitty 2 cents helps

Turn 7 is the turning point of the game.
If by turn 7 you still haven't done enough damage to the enemy general or setup whatever is you're deck is based on you're fucked, you also have to take into account how many minions the enemy general has, how many minions you have out. A 2x2 creep can be easily moved around and if placed poorly you could end up getting surrounded yourself.
A 7 mana card doing 4 damage is incredibly weak compared to a Nightsorrow + Shadow Reflection with deals 9 damage for 6 mana.

Shadowcreep is a bullshit mechanic. Silithar elders can be killed, eggs can be popped, the elder itself can be dispelled. It takes a turn to be able to use its 8/8 body. Shadow nova required AOE dispels that only one faction has, can hit multiple targets, lasts indefinitely and 2 is basically a sealed game. It's also in a faction that can stall for a long amount of time and has access to good removal.
