Cultures in each swiss canton, as in each italian region, are radically different from each other. Instead of making a culture for each province you get a blanket term for them all but that still bounds them together

After finishing my first complete game of EU4 (after several attempts of trudging through the horrible mana system), I have come to the conclusion that the folks at Paradox must suffer from some sort of mental handicap, which makes me wish the eugenics laws of Sweden were still in effect.
Even worst than the mana system is the fixed culture bonuses, which severely diminish replay value and strongly limits viable play styles. If you want to play as a military Hansa, forget it. Unless you invest in defensive focus and get the moral boost, you wont stand a chance against the French which can easily get +45% moral boost (French ideas + defensive focus + adviser). I understand what they are going for: a multiplayer-focused GSG, where the unique ideas would provide players with nation choices, not unlike AoE2. The main problem is that AoE2 gets random maps and players every single time. On the other hand, EU4 -- with its simulator roots -- is stuck with the good ol' map of the world, with nations starting in their accurate respective positions. That means the player is railroaded into a single build that only diverts due to external factors and RNG depending on the nation of choice. Have you chosen the Portuguese? Colonization is the only viable route for you, unless you want to be crushed by your stronger, more numerous continental rivals. It's impossible to overcome your situation through strong discipline and conscription, not unlike the Prussians. You just can't, the lack of inherent bonuses means you'll always be at a disadvantage unless you invest a lot of mana, only to catch up with others. I have seen more diversity in Vic2 and HoI/DH, where the time period is significantly shorter.
I think EU4 is stuck between wanting to become a competitive multiplayer game with a historical flavor (à la AoE) and a sandbox historical simulator that gives the players the power to shape the destiny of a nation.

Exactly. EU4 was nothing more than Johan trying to get into the competitive scene with a game balanced for multiplayer.
Paradox even posted statistics showing that only 10% of all EU4 userbase plays MP. Ten percent. But fuck trying to make the game more realistic or implementing deep mechanics. No. Dumb it down as much as possible to bring in the cod kids, shit out as many half-assed DLC as possible and balance the shitty mechanics with our little office games in mind.
This is why HoI4 is shit even before being released.

I honestly would mind the first option, if the world maps were procedurally generated on each game. It would certainly make an interesting multiplayer game. And the El Dorado expansion certainly has worked towards that. But as it stands, EU4 is stuck in an awkward middle and its popularity is only propped up by "funny" youtubers and forced memes on reddit and the Paradox forums.
I sincerely hopes HoI4 (which is apparently cranking up this new philosophy to eleven) blows in their face. Maybe someone can mod a picture of the Prophet (PBUH) into CK2 and pass it as genuine around jihadist websites to that one of them shoots the place up.

And idea groups often grant you stuff taht is simply locked to other the ones who did not pick it, like the explorers and conquistadors (inb4 Portugal).

What you are saying is certainly true to some extent. I might be exaggerating of unique ideas. I forgot to mention that this just comes on top of the railroading already done by geography. Take Aragon, your ideas (galley bonus and troop morale) essentially encourage you to become a Mediterranean power with Italian ambitions (culture conversion cost).
You could still distance yourself from that and compensate with idea groups, but I believe the encouragement is unwanted and counterproductive.
Another thing I forgot to talk about is the lack of malus. Except for some small tokens like the Patriarchal drop in tax revenue, the game essentially never forces you to make sacrifices, except in the form of ideas you could miss. Gone are the days of quality vs quantity or narrow-minded vs innovative. Instead you get RNG events. I think it's poor game design.

I think the silliest thing about stability is that the higher it is the higher chance of stab hitting events, and there are 2-3x the number of stability decreasing events compared to the increasing events which are only available when <1% overextension or theocracies.
This reminds me of what I really hate about EU4 is how obfuscated the mechanics are, with advisors, idea groups, or some other mechanic opening up important events that you're not privy to without looking through the files.

It's a bit more deterministic with due to national ideas than eu3 was yeah.
You can still fill up four military idea groups, get religious ideas and get two morale policies to get your idea up, but you'll never beat similarly min/maxed france at morale.
I don't think that is heretical though. It gives some extra replayability since different nations have a unique flair to them.
I avoided eu4 at the beginning because of this, but I've come to see the appeal.
You could probably keep the replayability value from the uniqueness of different nations if you worked in some more reform nation options.
Like how Forming Persia gives you different national ideas, there could be like a few basic sets of national ideas that you could reform into by decision if you meet the criteria.
So if you're Hansa and you want to stop being a trader you could pick Offensive and Religious and now you can reform into a monastic state with monastic military ideas. I don't think they should have french morale, but maybe 10% morale and some disc in there.
Just getting military idea groups should be enough vs AI though.

A. For the USA to get the most land, there should be election fraud or a scandal that causes the country to question whether it was right to secede or it's ability to govern separate from the USA.
B. For the middle choice where the country is split, I could guess the idea of a military invasionif the USA and Empire somehow like eachother?My reasoning for that is because of the border being split between the Appalachians.
C.For the British to win it would require a weaker USA, probably the results of a strong British ai or player.

I see it as making no sense for NE to be the USA and the USA to be the CSA because New England is the one that seceded, not the CSA. They shouldn't have been able to claim the title of the USA because of that. It's the same idea for the CSA. Why would you throw out your constitution and rename your country to the Confederate States of America? It made no senseit was also a cheesy way of including the CSA tag.

I'm currently playing my first game of Vic2 and I had a half dozen three front wars against Russia, Austria and France as Prussia and then later NGF and Germany proper without any meaningful allies. They got wrecked every time, I didn't loose a single war.
Learn how to create proper stacks and how combat works and it gets easy rather fast.
Go for 2 or 3 battle ready stacks with about 52k men (Inf + 2 hussar + 2 eng + cannons up to combat width) and create a few reserve stacks that get filled up with mobilized poor and you're golden.
Forts are also great as they increase the number of enemy casualties if you fight in these provinces.
You can win practically every west european war within 3 months via 50 warscore from battles.

The war was in 1837 and I already had my 60 brigades up, all in neat well divided and balanced stacks, 90,000 troops covering the French front and 90,000 troops covering the Russian one. It's best if you don't. Early on you need to do all your trade agreements before the AI fills theirs up.
Usually you can sell supplies to big niggas (UK, USA, USSR or Germany) and buy metal/precious metal/oil from the same ones. You can max out relations by doing a lot of small trades (selling 1 supply) and, when at 200, making the batch buying ones (it becomes cheaper that way).
Do enough until you have a healthy surplus of iron and precious metals. Oil and energy demands can usually be met internally, unless you're a shithole.

Without Screenshot of your combat Divisions, supplymap and tech progression i can give you only rudimentary advice.
First off, pull back all Division you don't need to push the front back to your Port and preferrably yugoslavia proper to shorten the supply chain.
Secondly try to size additional Ports that allow you to ship in more supplies and make sure you have enough convoys (that are not getting sunk).
Thirdly, don't base your fleet in a Port over in sudan and reduce the amount of planes to the amount you really need over there. The air force and navy have huge supply requirements.
An additional Option is to air drop supplies with Transport planes in the front line provinces, but considering you play yugoslavia which is short on leadership and you had to ask here how to solve your Problem i'd guess you neither have TRA built nor the required tech, thus making this Option prohibitivly expensive. Just keep it in mind for the Future as it conveniently allows to ship additional supplies albeit at an extraordinary cost.

I'm playing the mod right now. The Low Countries don't start with any factories like they do in vanilla, so there are 20-30k+ unemployed at the start of the game.

But if you take the papal states and 3 of venice provinces, core them and add them to hre before the event you'll keep the italians in the hre.
