I think that's the exact reason why some non-japanese speakers prefer Japanese VAs. You won't be able to tell when a character is being voiced poorly, whereas listening to it in say, English, you might not like how the VAs do their jobs.
I'm guessing Japanese speakers probably like the original VAs for varied reasons since they can actually understand what's being said.

Confession, I'm not into Japanese anime culture. The big SNES RPGs, Disgaea, and Miyazaki's films are about the extend of my knowledge. I heard nothing but praise for Persona 4, so I picked it up, and loved it.
Then, I went looking for a new JRPG and the Neptunia series was what a lot of people on vitagen recommended. Dear god, was that ever a mistake. So as not to hurt anybody's feelings, let's just say there's not one positive thing I can say about HDN;R1. Mentioned it a few times on here, and apparently the stuff I really detested is considered to be of the "moe" genre. Ditsy girls, men horny for underage girls, obsessions over breast size, panty-raiding, that kind of... stuff... makes my skin crawl.
So, I see Atelier Ayesha Plus is on sale this week, and I'd love a new RPG to play on the Vita. My question is the game another representative of the "moe" genre?
