So ever since last year, my son had an addiction to this game. He's currently 16, and plays this game nonstop. He constantly told me that he was going to go pro and to not make him stop playing ever since he used my credit card to buy a monthly membership for this game.
I already tried taking away his computer multiple times , but he keeps complaining that if I do that, I'll ruin his "career". This game also ruined his social life. The only reason I even let him play this game is because he does well in school and if I take his computer, he ends up not caring and doing worse.
Long story short, I want my son to think of this game as a game and not as a career.

First, I'm not sure you came to the right place to ask for help. Many of the users here are underaged, in pretty much the same situation your son is, so pay no mind to the offensive comments telling you you're being overprotective and/or a bad parent.
Second, in the last few years Esports has grown massively and rapidly. It's no joke people here telling you it can be a career choice.
I would suggest you find out how good at the game your son actually is. If he's good enough, he could actually have a career in this game, being that young.
If he's good enough, he could try and do both, chase the dream and go to college. There are several players that do both, with great success (Mainly nitr0 and eliGe come to mind, 2 players from Team Liquid, salaried players from one of the better North American team that go to college, one of them even having a scholarship).
If he doesn't want to commit to both school and CS and live in a country with a somewhat friendly educational system (Meaning he can take a year/2 years off then come back with no real issue) he can do exactly that, drop off for a year and try to break through. If he does, he can keep going untill it's over. Careers in Esports are somewhat volatile and relatively short, but if he's good and goes pro I'm sure he could make some money, at least enough to pay for college and/or save for the future. I would say the best of the best of NA are pocketing 70k+ a year, and I think I'm falling short.
Now, if he wasn't good enough, you should try and tell him exactly that. Many people in this sub, maybe your son too, will deny the truth for as long as they can and believe they are better than they actually are. If that's to be the case, I'm pretty sure this sub can actually help you with that. Just ask someone really good at the game to beat the crap out of your son so he realizes he's just not that good. (Recently something similar happened in Dota 2, another game.

Pretty much this. Treat it how you'd treat it if your son wanted to become a professional Football player or sports player. If he's in the top 0.00000001% he could easily earn $100k+ and much more a year, but if he's not in that tiny percentile then he's wasting his time trying to become professional and should just treat it as a game. Find out how good your son actually is (not from him, maybe upload a video from one of his games or something here) and then work from there to see whether you want to support your son or not.
If you do, let him carry on, else maybe do something like limit the amount of hours he can play with rewards/punishment of more/less hours for good/bad behavior. It seems childish for a 16 year old but would insure that your son was incentivized to carry on doing well at school.
PS: Also the monthly subscription charge you're referring to (I'm assuming it's ESEA), that's not actually part of the game and you don't need it to play. It basically gives you access to a different matchmaking service with better servers and players. Think of it like paying for access to a private golf club, you get to play with better people and play on better grounds; it's not really necessary and you could play on the public golf grounds - If you don't have the money, don't buy it.

I think this is the problem. Football, basketball, soccer, etc. are sports people have played as children, watched on TV, and know how to judge player quality. At least to a degree. I'm not taking here judging which pro player is better, but comparing two kids at practice. The differences at that stage are much more easily recognizable. When it comes to CS and other eSports, people don't know how to separate the ones that have potential from the rest.
I think OP should at least learn a bit about CS so he'd get an idea of what it is and what skill in that game actually is.

Ok, honest advice:
Find a sens high enough where you can make good strafes, but not fast enough where you could kill all of your speed from a large strafe.
Practice mechanics on easy maps (fruits, mesa, etc.), then work your way up to higher-tier maps.
Lastly, and something that most people wont tell you, for concave curved ramps you need to "stick" onto it and then strafe along it. For example, for a ramp that is curving to the right, you need to stick onto it with A and then strafe along it with D.

The reason being is a month ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition after losing a BIG BET and had to go through a huge lifestyle change. I was independant for two years, and had to take a break from the school I loved and move back with my family. Now I have to track every second of exercise I do, eat overly-healthy, and most importantly not get too stressed out. It's a boring lifestyle, and I hate it, but I suck it up because I could be in a lot worse of a situation.
Unfortunately, I have decided that it's best for my health to stop playing Counter-Strike. I recently got to Gold nova 3, which I feel is quite an accomplishment for me. Although, I started to take the game too seriously. It was all about wins and skines. If we lost a match or rounds didn't go my way, I'd get sad or mad. Playing competitive put too much stress on me, and I tried playing at lower ranks to try and combat it, but I hated the feeling of not being able to progress and outperform players who weren't at my skill level. It wasn't fair, and it wasn't fun.
Community gamemodes were fun with friends, I even made a video showing off Dodgeball! But they didn't satisfy my urge to play competitively.
I've been playing since I was 11, so for 9 years. Granted, only got into playing comp on CS:GO in the last 2 years. I'll still be watching my favorite teams, and cheering on my friends, but it's for the best I take some time off.
Now I'm going to focus on relaxing, working on my hobbies, and trying to have fun with what I have.
I loved all the dank memes, shitposts, and drama on /csgog/. Seriously, it's so active and fun here, so I'm sad to see it go. I'm sure I'll pop in every now and again to see what's up and new, but I think it's best if I neck myself. This way I can keep my focus elsewhere.
