This what we've been saving all along - Early game is absolutely the hardest part, and once you get beam lasers and carapace armor, the game is basically over, and the rest is just a formality. With an alien base assault soon, your panic troubles will be gone, and titan armor and plasma weapons will soon follow.

This is why we play Long War. The early game is easier, yes, but alien research means that aliens start strong and get strong, not just with more aim, HP, defense, and DR, but also gaining additional perks. It swaps out vanilla's reverse difficulty curve for a more standard one.

Why bio-tanks are shit in LW:
MECs have 40% more Armor HP.
Assault: ~21
Goliath: ~49
MECs can get 5.5 innate DR
Bio can only get 4(+1 if psi screen)innate DR

The strength of bio comes from being in cover. (+2.5DR in full cover)
Cover means defense, which is bad if you want the aliens to shoot your tank.(Fortiores una gives +1 but hunkering is just flat out retarded unless aliens can't see or move to see anyone else but the tank)

Oh and I didn't even mention absorption fields(which is still good after nerfs)
If anyone has any point for using biotanks, pls tell

You can't play completely out of sight unless you cheese with 3 engineers and 5 snipers every mission.
In those moments when aliens get a chance to shoot at you I'd rather take a 65% hit 5 damage shot than a 25% hit 29 crit.
