Here's a but of advice if you'd like:
Read the sticky, it's pretty useful, but take what it says with a grain of salt.
Make a fake twitter throw away account and collect all snails. I know social media blah blah but seriously these snails are worth it.
Always look up character stats before you decide if you want to level them or not.
Always have an idea of what kind of team you will be using the most. For the moment, slashers are easily the best possible for new players.
Gems for box space is the most important thing.

And I totally agree with you man, but you also keep in mind people have to have different tastes. For some people spending money REALLY isn't a big deal if you're employed, and I enjoy the game enough that I get a huge amount of enjoyment having a better chance of pulling I unit I really wanted on a Sugofest. When I pulled Rayleigh I can't even express how happy I felt, and that was I Sugofest I didn't even spend on so I know where you're coming from.
But also keep in mind that paying money isn't just an Auto-Win on everything, you still have to actually farm dungeons and bosses. In most cases money actually opens up more content for you to experience but getting you new units to level, or stamina refills for farming.
If spending a bit of money makes you enjoy the game more and you can afford it, then by all means do it. And if you enjoy getting satisfaction through the achievement of playing F2P that's just fine as well.

The gem is given to you on the last stage of the four that you complete. ie, if you do 30, then 15, then 10, then 5, it will give it to you on the 5 but if you go 15, 5, 30, 10, it's the 10.

As for Brook, definitely worth maxing his skill, for QCK parties, Boa parties and Slasher parties vs STR encounters.
So if you're really low on space, you can start dumping Ryuuma skillbooks anyway, and if you do the fortnight all the time, he will get to skill level 8-10, then just continue as Brook returns. That's how I do it on JP

Because Ryuma can do up to 200k-300k to INT enemies, and being a random special, you can keep resetting the game until you get a decent amount of damage

his special actually calculates individually on each anemy, so it would be like 2 enemies get 20k damage, 1 enemy gets 50k, 2 enemies get 100k and the last gets 200k. Well it's still about 50-70k damage on average, to every enemy, and PSY is a neutral type. Don't underestimate, but don't be over-reliant on this special

If you have the three of them you can stay alive literally as long as you want, just use one of their specials every time the dragon is about to attack and you'll be good to go. By the time you need to use the same special again, it will already be ready. You'll need to heal around 3600 HP or so every 18 turns, but it's not particularly hard to do.

If you spent a shitload of gems to max him and you have great subs, yeah, he's pretty good. He's however pretty risky to use and generally needs a lot of stalling. There is the Moby Dick which is meant for WB teams, but it can only help so much.
If you don't want to go through all that trouble and just want a 6* that's easier and safer to use, doesn't require stalling, is extremely versatile and a similar damage output to WB teams, just use Rayleigh.
Sengoku is fun to use but he can't really be used to clear the harder raids, and Hancock generally works better as a sub than as a captain.

Because of their drop rates. I got the secret Elder turtle stage I think 6 times out of 49 runs which makes 55 potential Elders. I got 12 out of which 6 were guaranteed. So I got 6/49 on the others which is fucking terrible luck.
Just maxed Jozu with 4 Elders left and not sure who to give them to next!
