Nope, that actually makes sense. It's the original hardware with updated connectors, plus you can get a flashcart for NES and enjoy fuckloads of games as they were meant to be played, hack and translations of titles never released in the west included.
Whereas I'm willing to bet that Nintendo's newest "console" is basically the cheapest mobo they could find capable of emulating NES games in a fancy plastic enclosure.
If it's going to allow firmware upgrades and moving the roms to internal storage through the USB port it might be worth it for people that don't have your setup.
Otherwise, it's shit. And I own a Wii U, so I can sense it a mile away.

Wii-U hardware can natively run GC games, so all you need to do is run the software through a homebrew program to get that installed on the system, and from there it can play any GC iso off of a USB that you have hooked in. So yeah, it's a USB loader. It's compatible with the GC adapter, pro controller, or classic controller extension. Pretty neat .

I think it could make for a cool gift idea for a nephew or niece that's into games or something. I remember my dad introducing me to an Atari when I was into N64 and Playstation and I actually found it pretty cool. We played Pong and Tanks together on that shit, and I had fun going through some other games and finding some shit that sucked (like the Pac Man and Donkey Kong ports) and some neat retro experiences like Adventure. I even tried to beat that one several times.
