I've never played an EDF game before, but based on the last thread and from what I've seen, its giving me major Starship Troopers vibes and the gameplay itself looks really fun. I'm generally into more story oriented games, but I'd be willing to give this a go. I'll support it! Hopefully this results in more people getting to enjoy a wonderful video game!

Look at it this way, your selection of games this gen has essentially been multiplats and obscure PC games that can be played on any $30 PC but still essentially multiplats and ports.
On console, namely the PS4 they have multiplats too but they also have digimon, gundam, grand kingdom odin sphere(third party exclusives that'll never come to PC) bloodborne, ratchet and clank, tearaway, uncharted, gravity rush, etc
People play on console not for side features like mods, but for both a wider library of current games. What you trade for multi-controller input console owners have traded in for games that you miss out on.
So if you want to know why people play on console, its for video games, not just to play multiplats with mods, that's a waste of time and a pretty shallow gaming experience if you ask me.

I build a new PC about every 5-6 years, Oftentimes I salvage parts from my old PC in my new build which saves me money, I might replace things or upgrade things once or twice over that period.
When I built this machine, well, I kept my old mouse, monitor, RAM, and one of my harddrives. That was 2 years ago. I've since upgrade the RAM from 8GB to 16GB, and replaced the monitor because it was 7 years old and an LCD, with an LED. I only have a GTX 750Ti, I can still run most games at 1080p on one monitor at 45-60fps on max settings. Occasionally, I have to turn down shadow settings if the Framerate gets below 30. I'm considering buying a new card within the next year.

What you are essentially telling me is buying a console for video games is essentially useless because the hardware doesn't accommodate your lifestyle choices and need for utility. Well truth is they aren't supposed to, they are dedicated gaming machines designed to have a low entry costs and be good for an entire generation netting exclusives, first and third party as well as the monthly AAA multiplat.
PC's, very very cheap PC's can cover all your utility and organizational needs hell it's what everybody dose and owns one for. Now I see the problem is you've wanted to merge the two for the ultimate cost-effective tech combination and I can't be against that if I tried, having everything on the one machine is extremely convenient which is the same idea I share about consoles in the vein of video games.
But because of this path you've chosen you've put the entry price to consoles under the microscope and held it's exclusives against them and denying their ability to play multiplats too which you've rather taken to see as a PC advantage rather than one shared across both platforms. I do however, understand that there are feature limitations to consoles such as graphics and frame rate tweaking as well as controller input, I too refuse to play shooters using thumbsticks.
To me it just seems you went too far out with the PC stuff, instead of picking up a console for cheap, even second hand, and building a mid level PC, you went all out with a high end PC. Also.. here's the other thing. PC's are basically well, backwards compatible for the last 3 or so console generations. There's a few Windows 95 games or Windows 98 games that don't play well on modern Windows OS's, and DOS games can be kind of dicey, but, you can get quite a few of them to still work. But anything designed for Windows 2000 and later? Plays flawlessly on Windows 7, and yes, I do play older games from time to time, one of my favorite games of all time is Morrowind.
