I liked ZTD a lot. The ending is a bit unusual but most stuff can be explained if we think about it.
What do you guys think?
Is the PSTV compatibility patch available yet? I got this game yesterday and it was a known issue back on June 28th.

Give me a source. I need this. I need to know.

>most stuff can be explained if we think about it.
That's true of every story ever written.
If the story had been presented in a more detached way as if it was meant to be a puzzle to crack then it would have been fair to leave hanging threads and stuff like that. ZTD's plot is too reliant on drama and suspense to leave so much stuff unaddressed.
I'm going to marry Carlos!
>>344281952
Diana wasn't anything like Luna

>>344286670
Luna was Diana without flaws. She had to be the perfect robo-waifu after all.
>>344286670
That's because Diana was an actual human being and Luna was a robot made to fill the hole she left in Sigma's heart
>>344281952
I wasn't strongly disappointed like everyone here seems to, just slightly underwhelmed by what could be a really great story if they gave it more room to breath. But memes here are absolutely brutal, love it.
ZE is sexist as fuck. All the girls end up being manipulative bitches.
>>344286670
Luna wasn't programmed to be a slut.
>>344288837
Luna acted more like a believable human being than Diana did.

>>344281952
I enjoyed it a lot. The game went full retard starting withDelta's reveal, but I don't have any complaints with anything before that.
What do you guys think about the Sleeping Beauty paradox?
>>344288837
>>344289202
I don't even remember Diana being timid, or saying she loved nature. Seems like Sigma added extra stuff in there

I missed a lot of symbolism in the game due to playing through it really late at night, what did you guys make of the symbolism in the puzzles/decisions/latin phrases
also, what did he mean by this?
The only good twist in the story was the hidden member. If you rewatch all the Q-team scenes you can get hints of him.

Q2 - "So, I heard originally that you were planning to have ZTD follow Sigma as the main character, but with what we've seen recently, you decided to switch to three main characters. Why did you switch to three main characters, and how will this switch impact the game that you wrote?"
"So, during initial planning stages for Zero Time Dilemma before it was "Zero Time Dilemma", we had always planned to have three characters, but one of them we wanted to be Sigma initially. But, when we thought about it, it's kinda unfair to new players that aren't familiar with the series, because Sigma, y'know, spoilers, is from the future - well, his brain or consciousness is -"
"Yeah, uh, it's a big loop in VLR."
"Yeah, so he already knows what happens, and if you're the player following this character around who already knows, like, the plot, kind of, it's not very engaging for the player and kind of unfair."
"Kind of a detachment from the character."
"Yeah, so with the new cast, Diana knows as little as the player does, so you're on the same page."
We need an edit of this image.

no, because he was seriously just pretending. It was a way to avoid Zero hearing them out, when he climbed on top of her he whispered her to go get the cards in the trasporter room
>>344297471
Delta owns the transporter, so he killed the duplicate in every timeline he's not needed, since he would probably appear at the free the soul HQ.
>>344297323
Because atomic data doesn't include the original consciousness, just a literal copy from an exact brain reconstruction.
Sigma even waxes as much after he uses it and you view the scenes coming out of the import pods.
This would mean you could SHIFT to your displaced copy, though.
>>344291072
Except that doesn't fix anything and they can't actually live in the good timeline, just a copy of them. In fact doing so would be pointless because those copies wouldn't even be guaranteed to live in the timeline, they'd have to transport to before ZTD happens, meaning that'd only a small set of themselves would live in the good timeline, with the rest still living in a shit timeline except even worse because now they actually have to live through the apocalypse.
Does anyone have the angry sigma picture that's mostly his eyes and eyebrows?
Foxy Grandpa > Marty McFly > CRAWLING IN MY SKIN
>>344297971
So? it's the same for all VLR characters.
We knew from the start they were stuck there, just that they created another timeline where a version of them could live a cool life.
>>344297764
That can't happen because Carlos came out before the timelines branched. He'd need to detain Carlos until he's sure which timeline it is, and by that point the game is already happening.
>>344297323
No matter how many times you fax something, you still retain the original. There isn't some sort of 50/50 chance where you might get the original.

>>344298162
You're right,
well then he stations one of the Left clones near the entrance of the bunker and when duplicate Carlos arrives after the game has started, Delta tells the Left clone whether to kill him or not, so duplicate Carlos is only allowed to barge in the timeline Delta wants.
>>344298454
But the game never even starts in the timeline where they win the coin toss.
The only reason Q has no portrait is because he is le-complex-motives man?
>>344298797
It's part of the Q/Sean twist
>>344298713
Well then as soon as they win the coin toss, Delta orders the other Carlos to be killed.
It's not that complicated.
>>344298234
Yeah, her legs are a mess, especially the left one, but I don't see anything wrong with her top half.
The pose is awkward as fuck tho, she should be sitting or leaning against something.
doesn't his Biker analogy still hold truth? I mean, the true end is accomplished by sending many alternate versions of themselves to a gruesome death and they're basically just enabling one happy existence out of many (like with the dice problem)
not saying they're morally wrong, it's just something to think about (and the point of the *second to* last decision game)
>>344298896
>Delta orders the other Carlos to be killed.
That seems to go against Delta's established reasoning seeing as he chews out the participants for completely disregarding other timelines versions of themselves.
>>344298914
It's not just that the pose is awkward, her left leg should be bending somewhat. As it stands in that image, it looks like the legs are of different length.
>>344298896
I can't really accept your theory without any proof.
>>344299032
No. Especially since the VLR timeline will never change after what happened at the bunker.
>>344299129
Well the real answer : we don't know so all we can do is make a hypothesis.
Alternatively, the other Carlos lives, he joins up the group after the ending and they go drinking together.
while it obviously didn't play out on screen, what would you have done, shoot delta or leave him alive? I would have done the latter because there's really no point in killing him and he arguably helped save the world

What if the events of VLR were always in the good timeline, but everybody involved either didn't know or made sure that they didn't know?
The whole AB Program was on the moon and nobody communicated with Earth or perceived whether Radical 6 broke out or not.
It's a Schrödinger's Cat thing where the Earth is both fine and fucked before they come back and observe it, so if they make sure that there's a reason for it to be fine and then return to Earth, it will be fine.
I just talked out of my ass and there are like 10 holes in this theory, but maybe we could make it work.

I also just finished it, and rather enjoyed myself.
Some lingering questions, though:
>Did they just run out of money and couldn't renderthe epilogues for Carlos, Akane & Junpei, and Eric/Mira/Sean?
>Why the fuck didn'tSigma/Phi/Diana get an epilogue, especially since they've gotta have the absolute most confusing one since Sigma and Phi's consciousnesses aren't time appropriate.
>WhenDelta is telling Akane she should attend the FtS meeting on April 12, and we know she goes, is that how she gets the full structure for the AB game? She says the AB project must succeed right after knocking out Junpei, but it seems like it must have been planned by Delta as well since his "true goal" was to have everyone survive all along.
>Why the fuck doesMira get off SO easy? Plus, in the epilogue, Mira using the transporter to stop herself from becoming a serial killer would completely erase literally everything that happens in the series, which is the point I guess, but still
>Who the hell isthe guy from the epilogue of VLR, who occupies K's body?

>less airtight than Q's reveal
Are you fucking kidding me? Sigma's reveal only relies on one person (him) being retarded, which is understandable given he's drugged and infected with a disease that slows down your brain processing to 1/√ 6.
Q's reveal relies on every other character being retarded and the game outright lying to you by making him invisible numerous times, not to mention that it's never explained why he even needed to be in the game.

I thought it did, which is why I was so mad at first.
>not to mention that it's never explained why he even needed to be in the game.
He was part of the experiment at Dcom, the reason being that they may very well eventually send handicapped people to Mars and they'd want to test is people would continue to help care for them. Why wouldn't he have been a part of the decision game?

No. Carlos is just so much more interesting than Diana and Seanand sexier.
>>344304318
Thank you.
>>344303878
This is what got me about the twist.
It *technically* works and they can pretty easily say "lol he was never in the shot see look here his silhouette" but VLR's twist worked because it made sense in the framework of the game. Like there's never a situation where it feels unnatural that you can't see Sigma's face, because the whole game is built around his perspective, so it's mindblowing that it was literally right under our noses.
With Delta you have to accept that despite all of these third person cameras and apparent wide shots (maybe C and D Team got them but not Q, I dunno the game is like 20 hours long), often shifting multiple times in a single scene, the most we ever see of him is a silhouette because he's just really good at staying out of camera angles or whatever. And the whole Q = Delta thing is a little hard to swallow too. When did Eric and Mira learn Sean's name and how come they never directly used it until that scene? And just..... I don't fucking know.
>>344304190
I dunno, I thought they all had a fairly good presence and I really liked Sean

>>344304124
Who fucking knows. I kept expecting a big twist with it but it never happened
Tbh I could have forgiven everything else about ZTD if the ending had been good but it honestly just felt like such a letdown. Like the big climax of the whole franchise is just Delta talking at you, then the shelter starts to explode so everyone holds hands and warps back to the beginning and Delta talks at you some more.
I expected there to be something big with Kyle and ? or with the terrorist. Instead I just got generic open we totally didn't run out of money ending. And that's supposed to cap off this whole three-game decades-long time bending struggle for the fate of humanity. Come on, Uchi, you used to be better than that.

No one cared about the DR2 cast before it was released and it ended up surpassing the cast from the first game by miles. I doubt DR3 will be that special, but it's not hard to beat the completely mediocre cast of the first game - where really only Tranny and Moralfag stuck out as anything good.
If Uchi ever continues Zero Escape, I really hope he starts with an entirely fresh cast of characters and only keeps the Zero/Bracelets element. We've pretty much wrapped up the story for the characters from 1-3 and I'd like to see what he can do with an entirely new storyline

Set it in an abandoned Siberian military base with nine nuclear warheads
They have nine hours to find the codes to disarm them or they will go off and destroy the facility
The protagonist is an amnesiac, he eventually begins to remember the codes between timelines as they find them and at the climax we learn he is the terrorist and his mind was wiped and he was placed in the base because he was the only person capable of disarming them
The plot twist is that there are two Zeroes, Kyle is one and we learn he has spent thousands of years ageless drifting through time and space attempting to find a timeline where they can trap and stop the plan of the terrorist while saving everyone in the base along with the second Zero, his friendCOCO YAGAMI
I'm not sure why they felt it was morally bad to SHIFT. If they're SHIFTers, then when they get kicked out of their current state from another version of their consciousness that chooses to SHIFT, they can just SHIFT again.

The idea wasn't retarded but the execution was. There were plenty of times where a guy in a wheelchair would've been spotted or even mentioned at some point (going up the stairs to fire the grenade for example) and yet he isn't.

>>344312771
There are so many missed opportunities with the character arcs honestly
I wanted to see Eric realize his value as a person and that Mira treats him like dirt, then when she tries to kill Sean and escape he protects him and she's genuinely confused and freaked out because she doesnt understand human emotions/the consequences of her murders and she thinks that he wants Sean to die so that they can both escape so she has no idea what's going on when he protects Sean or something like that
Would have given Eric some actual development as a person and would have made her a sympathetic character without downplaying the fact that she murdered like 20 people

VLR has some rough patches (LOL THE ENDING) and the characters aren't as good but when it shines it REALLY fuckin shines and the AB Game is still the best game of all of them
ZTD is a clusterfuck with some really amazing scenes and ideas mixed in that technically ends it on an airtight note at the expense of actual character motivation and development and sensible plot twists

I'll stand by 999 being a genuinely great game without needing the sequels. Loved the atmosphere, character interactions, and the answers to the mysteries were really unexpected and satisfying (I hadn't read any Uchikoshi VNs before this point)
VLR felt like a worthy sequel to 999. While it got a bit wacky with time travel shenanigans compared to 999's relatively subtle and reserved use of it. I loved Sigma and Phi's dynamic, probably the best pair of characters in the game and source of my favorite dialogue in the series. It left on a cliffhanger and served as great set up for a sequel.
ZTD, in my opinion, doesn't work very well as a sequel to VLR or as a conclusion to the trilogy. The returning characters feel a bit off, Sigma and Phi's dynamic doesn't get many opportunities to show itself, Akane acts unbelievably violent and rash at times for someone who is an expert at distancing herself from emotions and forming elaborate schemes. Junpei, while understandably different after the events of 999, felt a little too drastically changed after only a year, and his proposal to Akane felt a little unbelievable after bickering with Akane for most of the game and realizing she isn't who he thought she was. I wish Junpei realized that the Akane he fell in love with was a mere facade and came to terms with it instead.
The new characters were a mixed bag, Carlos was a blast to watch and learning more about Dianna was interesting. Mira and Sean felt pretty dull in comparison though.
Overall, I thought ZTD was a fun ride, but as a Zero Escape fan it felt lacking as a sequel to VLR and conclusion to the trilogy. Various elements, such as characterization and the ayy lmaos, put me off and makes me seperate ZTD from the other two in my mind. It's fun on its own but when paired with the rest of the series it becomes a bit of a clusterfuck. Problem is, there are so many returning elements from the other ZE games that it doesn't really work stand alone either.
