>999
Went in withzeroinformation and expectation. It really captured me and blew me away in terms of twists and story. I had never read a VN before so it introduced me to that genre. Still one of my favorite games.
>VLR
A great sequel. Didn't like it as much as the first because of the characters and atmosphere, but the AB game was really effective because it made me feel like shit or great about myself depending on what I chose even tho I knew I could just change my choice afterwards. Impressive
>ZTD
Disappointing. A lot of good stuff, but it's not the satisfying conclusion I wanted. Delta's character and motivation makes no sense to me and the climax sucks.
how do you think he's doing?

What will you be streaming, the whole game?
>>344314919
Of course. I did 999 / VLR before ZTD was released as well.
>>344314975
Ah, okay. I had been avoiding these threads like the plague so I didn't know anyone was or had been streaming.
>>344314867
I don't know why their target was new fans when the whole social media thing was what pushed ZTD out of development hell, honestly
It had a few great fanservice moments with the funyarinpa and Phi and Sigma arguing but they were like one second each. I wanted to see the characters actually interacting.
I wish the teams had gotten shuffled so there would have been more variety in the interactions but that wouldn't have worked because Uchikoshi was so committed to his stupid Blick Winkel 3.0 twist
>>344314992
I really have to believe that the game had a shit-ton of cut content. It's the only way I can imagine Dio, Kyle and ? all getting left out, none of the characters having any fuckin development whatsoever over the story, Carlos just kind of being there and learning to SHIFT at random and the whole franchise just ending with Delta talking at you MGS2-style.
Holy fuck that reminds me I still have to play The Phantom Pain and see another one of my favorite franchises end on a shitty note. I don't think my heart can take that, Anons. God damn it.
probably my favorite ZTD meme
>push the button
>break the transporter
>bomb the door
>have kids while starving
Diana's husband was probably doing the right thing
You know a game is bad when it spawns more memes than actual discussion
I keep hoping a Q&A can help ease SOME of the disappointment, but then I remember we might not even get one:
>Q11 - "After ZTD's release, do you plan to conduct another "Uchikoshi Questions & Answers" event like you did with 999 and VLR?"
>"So, we don't have any specific plans. I mean, of course if fans come at me with questions, I would love to answer them, but one of the goals for this title is to resolve all the mysteries of the previous title, so I don't foresee there being a lot of questions from fans, but you never know."

>Junpei, while understandably different after the events of 999, felt a little too drastically changed after only a year
I disagree. It's reasonable to think that he's become significantly more bitter within a year after Akane flat out abandoned him at the end of 999. His backstory with the detective agency makes sense too, it's obvious he's seen some shit.
What are their lengths and girths?
ZTD was the only game I played on release, with VLR being played after one year of its release and I forgot when I played 999 but who cares.
But were there any VLR memes?

>>344317401
I don't think so. Brother's whole goal in releasing R6 was to stop the terrorist from killing eight billion. If the coinflip is won and the cast escapes, do you really think Brother's going to say 'well, shit, that backfired, guess I'll just kick back and wait to be blown the fuck up in World War 3'? Nah, he's just going to take the lift downstairs, pick up the vials of R6, head into Vegas and poke a few people in the first crowd he sees.
I think what kills me more than anything about ZTD is all the wasted potential
Like going into it I was more hyped than I've ever been for any game and it stayed that way for the first few fragments and it looked like it was going to build up to this big conclusion
Then I got to Apocalypse and Outbreak and got further in and it became clear that there wasn't going to be any big resolution because they had to throw the terrorist in to make Delta ~~~morally ambiguous~~~ or whatever and it lost all sense of tension and just became C-Team's excellent SHIFTing adventure
Feels so fucking bad man it had some really amazing moments worked in there
>>344317958
I'm glad I made this
>>344318786
It was just a matter of time.
>>344318830
Giving Brother more motive beyond Left dying was where it mainly went wrong. By trying to make him good they had to do a lot of asspulls. Why he couldn't just be a terrorist is beyond me.
>>344318546
No, because the coin flip ends in the final ending, with the enlighted SHIFTed characters, so the outbreak isn't necessary anymore. It was an inevitable conclusion in the end, because all possibilities happen. The coin flip is won AND lost, and the losers will take the place of the winners because the choice is there. In the end it's all just inevitable.

Does this get better at some point?
>>344324967
Epigenetics.
So it's implied that every decision in the game is just delta mind hacking the characters.
So how does that explain the timeline where Q team was executed? Who made the choices there?
Also if Delta was making the choices but did not have the shift ability, in canon he made the wrong choice on purpose for no gain i.e. blue button.

>>344325047

>>344324913
So Delta is just bullshitting? I thought his entire motive for using Radical 6 was because it would only kill 6 billion rather than 8. Did he somehow just know that this would result in a fuckton of people dying from nuclear reactors blowing up and not from radical 6 itself? If radical 6 has a 100% mortality rate and he knows this then that's the only explanation.
>>344325208
Yeah because apparently he mind hacked people who had returned from the future which is just stupid
>>344325070
It's only implied that he hacks the characters into making decisions that they normally wouldn't, like the executions.
>>344325047

I think the mind hacking only applies to the choices they wouldn't have made due to the known outcome. Like Carlos choosing the wrong team to execute, or pressing the shower button. The blue button with the warning is reasonable to press since you don't know what will happen.
>>344325070

yeah but in the timeline where they both live, they all get killed anyway.

Are we assuming Carlos is the fanatic or something? Okay, I like this meme theory.
Think about this:
10 months Carlos experiences an identity crisis after he inadvertently causes billions to die. His will to save people dies and bitterness grips him while his pre-existing god complex takes over. He shifts over to the 2nd Carlos that exists in the CQD-2 end...
and that is how he starts to become the religious fanatic.
As Zero said, he's the snail that may cause the world to go extinct.

yeah its very weird like the sigma reveal but done very bad
>hey look i was here the whole time!! durr
Here's what I don't get - Delta acts like everyone is an idiot for not wanting the Radical-6 ending. But we all played and Sigma + Phi + sort of Akane lived through VLR and based on the events of that game we know the world has gone to shit. Like, not just the same old society but with less people, like the actual apocalypse. And surely he can see the future and how garbage it is, right? So why does he act like Morphogenetic Justice League is the last resort? It's stupid but isn't it better than plunging the world into hell to kill one person?
>>344334584
You don't know shit about guessing.
I put in Delta into the Q Team shootout way back at the start of the game after getting prompted to input Q's real name and just started going through greek letters I knew after Left and Brother didn't work. I've never been so confused about anything in my life.
>>344334656
Yeah, that's only """implied""" to the player, I think that's a nice detail, but it really puts me off that they start calling him by his name only after that, as if they awlays knew it
>>344334862
yeah à mean in the game
somehow forgot to type this part
>>344334875
The Delta twist has way more put into it than the Sigma twist, though. You get maybe 4 hints across the whole game that Sigma is an old man, the Q and Delta thing has bits hidden all over the place.
>>344334875
Yeah I still say Sigma ending was better because we never actually see his face and more importantly he's never in a situation where we would expect to see his face. So it's out of nowhere (well I guess they hinted pretty heavily something was up with GOODBYE DOCTOR and all the tu fui ego eris stuff) and mind-blowing but it's not a stretch.
With the Delta reveal you just kind of have to accept that lol okay he was always JUST out of the picture in this game with lots of third person wide shot camera angles and you have to accept that somehow Carlos and Mira knew Sean's name the whole time and just never said it outright until the end
>>344334915
I got to the Team D Force Quit box and the only endings I had gotten were like, Triangle, the coinflip and Phi in the incinerator. I remembered Phi said her mom gave her the brooch so I put BROOCH for one and I remembered that Diana has the blue bird necklace from VLR so I figured her mom probably gave it to her too and she probably brought it up in that scene and I just wasn't paying close enough attention so I put in BLUE BIRD too.
>YOUR CHOICE IS MADE
>Oh fuck I fucked up
Tried to jump away but not before the giant shot of Sigma and Diana holding the twins
That's how I spoiled ZTD for myself by accessing the morphogenetic field from a timeline where Amazon fucking shipped my game on time and I was two days ahead
>>344335135
sigma reveal makes sense because you never see your face and basically you would never assume that you'd be 70 something years old because you where 20 before being abducted and you don't know shit about sigmas mind circle thing
delta however was just "hidden" from the players cam which is bs if you ask me
and i don't believe that no one would not speak, not look at or not consider someone just because they think hes blind and deaf and cant walk
>>344322064
>>344321967
You have to replay the actual vote scene again and make sure each team gets voted for twice.
So play D and C and vote Q
Play C and Q and vote D
Play D and Q and vote C
You have to play the actual vote part not just watch the scenes. They must be voted on back to back.
>>344335663
Fuck, I did exactly the same thing. They're the only two objects D-team possesses so it was so obvious they'd be the input. They should've held back the Force Quit fragments until you got D-end 2, since you need that end to get to Q-end 2 and C-end anyway for the other two Force Quits.
>>344335663
i made the connection between diana and luna very early because it was VERY obvious and also had a ending where you get to know phi's brooch so i typed in "brooch" and "birdscage" (which fitted perfectly) and clearly it was wrong
after the "official luna reveal" i tried again and found out that it was blue bird
i surely felt stupid
HE'S FAST!
>>344335756
Nah, Sigma's reveal is pretty stupid. He has no clue that his hair is way longer, can't feel the artificial eye and apparently it was assumed that he would never touch his face at any point even if he had an itch to scratch or some shit.
At least the part where Q Team would actually be talking about Delta and Sean would be giving them his name is just deliberately omitted instead of overlooked.

This is about whether or not Sigma's twist made sense (which it doesn't), but yeah, it did. There are plenty of things about the Delta reveal that I didn't like (mainly how quickly what it amounted to was over in like 10 minutes because the game didn't get finished), but it was definitely better than Sigma's and pretty much all the attention to detail in the entirety of ZTD was devoted to it.

Will this fill the void after finishing ZTD? Is it worth $40?
Pls no spoil

Why does it have to even start from within the shelter? Why does he need to jump through all these hoops when he could just spray it at a FtS gathering and they would probably all be 100 percent down with it
Why doesn't he use the quantum supercomputer that can literally let Sean use its position in spacetime to SHIFT in order to find the one person who triggers the end of the world in apparently enough timelines that it becomes a problem worth killing almost all of humanity for?
Why do he and Akane try so hard to create a stable time loop to the point that he literally starts the Decision Game just so he can be born when it seems to be obvious that outside of 999 time paradoxes mean fuck-all in this franchise?
>>344345021
Definitely not anyone working under Alice (poor SOIS). Imagine her bitching in stereo.
>>344321479
Well something was done to a similar degree in VLR during Luna's route.
>>344345110
Are you a weeb? And I don't mean someone who watches anime.
That's kinda a requirement to enjoy DR.
just finished it. I really liked. It wasn't overly ambitious, and delivered on everything it promised. Delta's motivations werecomplexbut I didn't think they were any dumber than the Zeros in 999 and VLR. The ending scene was fucking fantastic and a great way to close the game.
>>344321779
Well you know
There are actually 2 theories about that
One, as you said every single action make an alternative timeline and in the past millisecond there were infinite timelines created.
The other one is that only major choices create different timelines, so when say, you decided to play this game today or not, or if you decided to eat a sandwich or a pizza not minor things like whenever your hand moved 1 cm or 1.000000000000000001cm to the left
The game assumes the 2nd one.

40 bucks for both of them is just about fair, I'd say.
It's very hit-and-miss, though.
Maybe download the PSP version of DR1 first to give it a try, see if you like it.

Delta uses his mind hack powers to make it so people can't see him. People only notice him when Q/Sean points him out because Delta can't mind hack a robot.

Finally someone with taste.

Persona 4 style meets Ace Attorney the Visual Novel
Can we have a ZE4 aboutterrorists that are actually aliens from another dimension?
>>344320742
Easily the reveal thatSean was not Q
Despite the fact that I should've REALLY sensed something was amiss during theWho Killed Miradecision, becauseputting in Q resulted in Eric saying "that doesn't make any fucking sense", and putting in Sean had him say "I knew it was you.
The actual reveal hit me like a ton of bricks. Especially since this is the first ZE game that I didn't get spoiled on at all.
Is Professor Layton actually good? I need something to fill the void
>>344345110
No. Play Steins;Gate instead.
>>344345687
If you like Bullshit puzzles, yeah.
Layton has shit like "You have a red ball and a blue ball twice it's size. If you drop them both at exactly the same time, what is the probability that the person's name dropping the ball is Timothy?"
And you enter a percentage and the game says that the answer is0% because Timothy didn't actually drop the ball, he just rolled it off of a countertop so gravity actually dropped the ball, not Timothy.
God damn.
>>344345110
Haha, time for DESPAIR
Only played 1 on PSP, but had a blast.
>>344345941
what the fuck kek, that just sounds infuriating
>>344345687
Layton's fun, but most of the puzzles have no context or reason to be in the story. It is literally just characters coming to you, or you going to characters, and them saying "SOLVE THIS PUZZLE TO PROGRESS"
>>344345021
Since transport copies seem to be considered iterations of the same person, could they communicate in the same way that Akane does with her alternate future self? Would there be a morphogenetic advantage to having two agents who are the same person?
>>344345941
Brb murdering some people and blaming it on gravity.
>>344345687
A lot of its puzzles are of the "didn't give all the information" variety.
>This block of ice is 10cm thick.
>Your lighter produces a 3cm large flame that burns at 300 degrees celsius
>How long would it take you to get to center of the ice?
>Just a few seconds, since you can just break the ice throwing it the ground!
That kinda stuff, but obviously done a lot more gracefully.
They can be alright timewasters, but that's all they are.
there was a really good meme picture somebody did, it was an edit of that "back the fuck off?!?" picture, does anyone have that
I thought I noticed that the songs that play during C-Team's sections are mostly all from 999, and likewise with D-Team's sections with VLR.
Can anyone confirm?
>>344346375
This one?
>>344345941

>>344346545
I'm not sure about general music, but I'm like 90% sure that any sad moments for C-Team are a variation of Morphogenetic Sorrow, and sad moments for D-Team are almost always Blue Bird Lamentation.

>>344345110
I really want to play these but only have a shitty laptop right now and now vita. Life is unfair, isn't it?
So basically the "Apocalypse" ending is the whole reason vlr happened?
somehow this would close the circle
but the initial dcom project had to happen without sigma and phi due to phi and sigma only being able to participate "after" vlr happened right? they planned to jump back and wanted to infiltrade the project. But this doesn't make sense considering phi and sigma being essential parts of the said ending.
Explanation would be appreciated.
>>344347047

Holy shit it's been a while since I've read that. Thanks for the classic laughs.
>>344347209

>>344347047
you shift to the timeline where the people enjoys the smell of garlic
>>344347225
You must be new to this series. Time paradoxes don't mean shit.
>>344347225
There would also be an universe where akane died, one where phi and delta were never born and so the AB game would've never happened
LIFE WOULD BE A LOT EASIER IN THIS UNIVERSE
>>344345687
Yes, but if you had problem with the ZE puzzles avoid it.
Layton is actually for smart people
>>344347225
The ending where you don't push the button would probably also lead to radical-6 being released. Same with the ending where Diana tries to deactivate the bomb instead of Sigma.
The lack of Phi porn angers me.
>>344347225
There's never a timeline where Sigma and Phi aren't inserted into Dcom.
Even though the Apocalypse/VLR future is only one of many possible futures, Sigma and Phi from the end of VLR will always shift into their bodies in 2028, before the Dcom project begins.
>>344347209
Are you serious?
I'm surprised with all the Kyle this and ? talk I was under the impression the secret ending of VLR was just that, a secret ending just to get you thinking and not actually "canon".
>>344347367
>Use the two corks below to help our friend deal with the smell.
>>344345110
I tried playing danganronpa 2

Its too boring and long prologues are not a good idea...
>>344347620
I kind of wish I never even knew about the secret ending so I'd be less disappointed by ZTD.
On the other hand, Tenmyouji's biker story.
>>344347493
To be fair Layton has more trick question type of riddles which is just annoying to me personally.
>>344347791
Did you start with 2?
>>344345110
Are you fine with anime tropes? If yes then you'll be okay. If no then maybe not. 2 is much better than 1, but is also made better by first playing 1.
>>344347584
oh that means that as long vlr exists as a possible future, sigma and phi would always participate in dcom as a result of the AB game's success.
>>344348114
Yes it's just like how Delta and Phi exist in all timelines despite only being born in one.
>>344347805
Tenmyouji's epilogue still gives me intense feels
>"The Akane I know, isn't here. She isn't anywhere."
C-End could have been great source of feels too if Carlos wasn't being a fucking memelord.
>>344340758

>>344345110
Zero Escape did a good job filling my DR void, though I think I like ZE better now.
if you like whodunnits and can deal with anime shit you'll probably like it. 2 is better but it's better to play 1 first for a variety of reasons.

>>344347212
I played both of them on my lenovo T420 and they ran just fine.
Is there any evidence to suggest a radical6 outbreak in any timeline other than VLR?
Delta doesn't seem like the kind of guy to waste his time like that. I mean, I know he can't shift, but he doesn't actually seem to give a shit about anything other than achieving the true end in ZTD.
>>344348381
Is this a real question, with an actual answer?
>>344348381
The answer is the background!
>>344348424

>>344348546
Mira walks out of the shelter infected with radical 6
>>344347597
Layton is more about riddles than puzzles
>>344348546
No evidence, it's just interpretation as to whether Delta would release it to save the people of that timeline or doesn't give a fuck.
>>344348546
Is there any evidence the terrorist attack is real and Delta wasn't making shit up?

>post-story Junpei & Akane (2)
>"When I think about what a bitter old man I'd have become if I had to keep looking for you for the rest of my life..."
I know popular opinion is that Akane is a sociopath, but I'm of the opinion that only really happens circa VLR. I'm really glad that they got a happy ending. I'm less glad Sigma, Phi, and Diana got nothing, especially since that'd be the most interesting post-story to read: would Old Sigma give his young body back? What about Phi? Do they live together as a family?
>>344348857
Because then there wouldn't be a point to anything that happened.
>>344338165ZTD: The player is Zero
OH, that makes much more sense now. I was wondering where the old man came from.
>>344348546
FBR is clearly made up and in the timeline where you don't have D team hit the button Mira escapes after she injects herself with the virus, so that timeline's clearly toast.
Also, The bad ending you get where Diana goes into the decontamination room instead of Sigma is basically not any different at all from Mira's perspective, so she'd probably still inject someone. Maybe if Sigma wasn't incapacitated and Diana wasn't around they could have decided to kill and burn Phi, but maybe not.
>>344348563
Yes, it's an actual puzzle. >>344348581 is right. "Out" of the houses, meaning not 'including' the houses.
Most of the puzzles in Layton are actually straight logic puzzles but the game occasionally throws curveballs like that just to keep you on your toes and make sure you're thinking critically about each puzzle instead of trying to reduce each one to a math problem. Pic related is an example of a 'real' one.
>>344349013
>develop virus to stop the terrorist
>don't use it
What's the point?
>>344348857
BECAUSE
>>344348114
>>344348205
oh and also this once again proves the phrase of vlr that the future changes the past
>Yes it's just like how Delta and Phi exist in all timelines despite only being born in one.
well through the teleporter its understandable
also vlr HAS to happen otherwise ztd is impossible but in the timeline of sigmas consciousness the order of events is either way vlr and then ztd which is kinda hard if to follow this path considering hid consciousness is jumping around like crazy
>hi im Sigma your future is my past
>>344349008
>would Old Sigma give his young body back?
There's nobody to give his body back to. Young Sigma exists in the VLR timeline to grow up into Old Sigma, who then splits into a bunch of different possibilities, only VLR Old Sigma has to worry about swapping places with Young Sigma.
>>344349013
well in VLR he had other motives to release it but then in ZTD it was to stop the terrorist and everyone accept that bit of information as granted
>>344349047

Sure, but ZTD has one of the worst of all.
>>344349192
he used it to lure everyone he needed into dcom to make sure they would be determined to hinder the terrorists
the one or the other was plan B

>>344349631
Nope.Phi and Brother/Delta are siblings, Left is Brother's step/adoptive sibling
>>344349631
They always were.
So did everyone just forget thatMira is a horrible serial killerin the true ending?
I just thought about something
If there are at least two carlos in each timeline
And the one who waited for 10 months dosen't know what's happening in the bunker
Then why the fuck didn't he come back in the stranded pair ending to save diana and sigma
