Anybody else having issues with the game not registering your taps? Some times I'll go to throw a pokeball but then the game stops working halfway through. I can't throw the ball and I can't take it back so the game gets stuck. Seems the only way to get out of it is to close the app

From what I've learned in the day I've played it

This means that you could catch a 56 CP Pidgey at level 5, or a 30 CP Pidgey at level 50.

I'm sure everyone already knows this, but as you level, "better" pokemon types start showing up, of course you can still get a good pokemon at a low level.

This should be obvious, you get the most CP for your stardust if you save candies to evolve pokemon instead of leveling them up.

Eggs are 100% random no matter the distance meaning you could get a charmander from a 2km egg while getting a weedle from a 10km one.

Power up first. The same CP percentage will carry over to the evolution. So if you power up a Pokemon to 90% and evolve, the evolution will already have 90% CP. Saves a lot of stardust.
If you catch a final evo like Beedrill and it's at very low CP, then it's trash. Turn it in for candy and power up a good Weedle or Kakuna if you find one with high CP. I mean, you could power up the Beedrill anyway but it'll take a shitload of stardust.

Short-Term: Powering Up
Long-Term: Evolving
You get more CP for leveling up an evolved pokemon compared to its lower level counterpart, this means that eventually if you invest enough candies into a single Pokemon, it will eventually be more "profitable" than if you were to level its pre-evolution.
Just to confirm this, I powered up a Ratata and a Raticate both of which I had not powered up before. Both Power Ups costed me 1 Ratata candy and 400 stardust.
The Ratata gained 7 CP
The Raticate gained 20 CP

The game as a safety precaution only counts movement at what I believe to be under 20km an hour to count as in game movement. Other than that, I'm not really sure myself how the egg system works as I haven't had much time to actually walk around while the game was on.

It obviously depends on the Pokemon, but for the common/uncommon ones you can find everywhere, it's obviously more worth it to power up and evolve than to power up an evolved one.
If you find something like a Gyarados, you obviously won't choose to power up and evolve a Magikarp instead, no matter what the CP percentage gap is.

Does the arc above the Pokemon indicate how trained they are compared to their max? For example, I have a 106 CP Eevee whose arc looks like it's ~75% filled but my 88 CP Pinsir looks like it's only around 30%

I live in Louisville Kentucky and have seven churches which are all pokestops within walking distance of my house. 7 times 3 pokeballs. So I can get 21 pokeballs around every 30 minutes or so if I just walk around my neighborhood.

yo blue team runs shit in my neighborhood right now. I've cleared out all of the nearby red gyms but one, and that one is only still around because the fucking game glitched when I had him almost dead, and I was 11PM and I didn't wanna stand around to do it again. I'll get it later.
Also other blue teamers have been putting their pokemon in the gyms along with mine. We got this shit on lock down.
