When did this happen? Wasn't that the main hook of the game? To claim planets as you see fit vs others??
People are in for some huge fucking disappointment when they realise there's nothing to actually do on these near-infinite planets.
Make all the excuses you want about the ridiculously basic gameplay, this is Spore 2.0. Mark my words. It'll be nice, but people will get bored very quickly and it will NOT be worth full retail.

There's still the online component where planets you discover you can name along with other things, and if someone else goes to that planet they see what you called it. But you can't directly play with others.
I'm still interested, mostly because I just love exploration in games for explorations sake.

Don't get the hype surrounding this game at all. Everything we've seen of it just shows you doing nothing and looking at derivative, stupidly colored flora.

As someone who is rather passively anticipating this game, I'd say that what you're not seeing is the immersion, which is something that is difficult to capture in screenshots.
I've got over 200 hours in Elite: Dangerous. Do you know what you do in that game? Jack shit. NMS looks very similar in content, but I'm okay with that because I know that despite not having anything substantial to do, the experience will still be enjoyable.I'm even more excited for it because I have a Vive and HOTAS. I expect to dump an embarrassing number of hours into this game.
