Finally finsihed this and I don't even know what to say; I'd rather let Junpei's potty mouth be my reaction to all of this.

I thought there was going to be a connection with that.I also thought the animation and voice acting being weird was going to be explained by everybody being infected with Radical-6 again.

How would a dog do it?
I've been hearing great things about this game but I also heard that it's a sequel. Are the other games too important to skip?
>>343961849
First time I voted, I made them "betray" each other, so as C I voted Q, as D I voted C, and as Q I voted D.
Later, I "allied" as everyone and watched the execution scenes, although I feel like I saw one of them twice, but not the Q execution. (And I had filled the entire flowchart about the first votes.)
So 18 hours in, I got stuck. I had to figure out if I was already supposed to know any of the Force Quit Box passwords, the door of truth password, or who the fourth person is I can shoot with my crossbow.
At some point I realised that the "Q team executed" thing was greyed out in the flowchart, so I went back to C team and voted against Q team AGAIN. I was happy to see I finally unlocked the reactor room.
I still don't get how that works exactly.
>>343958976
I really don't like using this word but...22 years old Sigma in VLR got cucked, right? Literally fathered children who aren't and are his.

You're actually voting in game.
Voting for Q team with C and D executes Q team, instead of just sending you down a path when one team chooses a different team.
>>343962475
Who can say that? The games spends a chunk of it trying to justfy SHIFting and what it means trading consciences.
>>343962298
>Are the other games too important to skip?
yesokay they're not ABSOLUTELY required, but it is definitely recommended for the full experience. Plus they're just good games anyways, so play em, you won't be dissapointed

My VLR save has 34 hours clocked into while ZTD is only 23.
Does Eric redeem himself later on in the game? I know about his past and stuff, but he seems impossible to like so far.
>>343962668
No. He just keepssmiling.
>>343962538
So when I went back to "un-betray them" all, and voted against D team as C team, the game still "remembered" that I also had Q team vote against D team and then they were executed? And then, when I voted against Q team as D team, D team still had two votes and were executed again. And then I voted against C team as Q team, which should have done...nothing, actually.
>>343961549>Mira kills Eric's mother

>>343962837

>>343962830
The game remembers what votes were put in.
You said D had the C and Q vote but Q had the D vote so Q had 1 vote against.
When you made C vote for Q, it remembered that D voted for Q as well, so it gave you the Q Execution since they now had two.
Jesus christ, it took me like an hour of pondering about who killed Mira until I accidentally let the clock run down. I thought it was basically one of those 'okay, you have everything you need, now solve it' things.
Disappointing game, especially finale though. I swear, the presentation in each installment got worse.

>>343962837
> Implying Mira isn't Eric's mother too.
Think about it. Mira goes back to the past with Eric at the very end of the game to try to stop herself from killing anyone. Her first victim understood Mira's motives and reasoning immediately, and was far too kind to someone who literally was killing her. Eric is also borderline unstable, but stays sane when he's with Mira, just like his dad was with his mom.
Incest infinity loop.
>>343963960

>>343961947
Zero flat out tells you thatit was Mira.
>>343967381
While it does "welcome" newcomers, it stabs them in the back with important plotpoints of VLR
A friend of mine that didn't play VLR went to play the first scenes of ZTD and then regretted it immediately as now he's trying to play VLR and already knows that Tenmyoujy is an old Junpei and that Sigma's consciousness in ZTD comes from the future, basically spoiling that VLR is several years in the future from the prologue
Junpei also is not that subtle with hinting that Akane was Zero in the first game
>Junpei mentions that Ace broke out of prison
>this is never discussed or brought up again
Why the fuck didn't the animate the epilogue files? I wouldn't even have known the files were there if I didn't come here and see you guys talking about them. There's literally no excuse.
>>343966892
Not him but your wording was pretty poor
I got the Perceptive End long before the game tells youthere's a 4th member of Q teamand I was very confused
>>343967864
He never said that, he said that he's STILL in prison
>>343967871
Why didn't they animate NOTHING in the game and stick to the original VN style which is cheaper, allows for running commentary from the current protagonist, and looks less shabby than low production values cutscene?
>>343967678
>Junpei also is not that subtle with hinting that Akane was Zero in the first game
He actually is very subtle, since all he does is tease Akane in the very begining about using her abilities and asking if she has anything to do with Game.
It doesn't hide she was connected with all that went down in 999, but it does hide who exactly was Akane in that Game.
Am I the only one that hated theQ is Deltatwist? Not the actual revelation thatZero is Sigma and Diana's child, but that there was an old man in a wheelchair hanging around the whole time just offscreen that no one bothered to acknowledge until it was plot convenient
>>343967992
You're right, those animations were trash. Sometimes their wrists would be thin and all fucked up.
>>343967929
I went back and triedDeltaat every single choice the moment I figured it out and was actually pretty disappointed with how few times it actually changes anything when you put it in.
>>343966816
I thought the secret was that it was a flatchested girl under the helmet, and had suspicions that it was a time-displaced Phi
Side-bar, you're a moron if you thought Diana was a robot because she's very obviously the human being that Luna was based on
>>343967864
I could be remembering wrong, but I thought Junpei said he's in prison, but wouldn't be surprised if he had broken out.
>>343968067

>But in my 22 year old body
>I loved Zero so much, I owned all the watches and bracelets
>I play Decision Games every night, thanking him for the life I'm about to lose
>"His motives are complex", I say, "Life is unfair"
>My dad hears me and calls me a faggot
>He is obviously jealous of my devotion to Zero
>I called him a cunt

>He transports me with an alien device
>It makes no sense, but I do it for Zero
>I can feel my other selves dying as he kills my dog

>>343968328

>>343968239
Except the hints from Sigma are actual plot elements you can piece together and the twist in ZTD relies on half the people on Q team refusing to address each other by name for absolutely no reason whatsoever, and not think or mention certain things at any point even when it's really weird not to.Like, how the fuck was Q getting around if he's deaf and blind? Was somebody pushing him in his chair? It feels like a twist that the 'game' was designed to hide rather than the 'story', if that makes any sense at all.
>>343967678
That's true. It's not like he brushed off all plot points, but I find it silly that Junpei cannot just outright say that Akane was (1) Zero in the second Nonary Game, (2) she was one of the reasons why he has turned cynical. He hints at both, and calls her out on her bullshit at times, but I feel like his level of anger would have been beyond what we saw, given how his childhood friend lied to him and in a way endangered their lives.
Aside from that, I'm also pissed at a number of scenes, likeJunpei talking about how he and Seven destroyed FtS's HQ like it was nothing. Like what the fuck. If it were that easy, then how come no one thought of doing that before? And of course Junpei proposes to her in the end. After all the crap he has been through because of Akane, he still gives her a ring. Things just don't make any sense to me.
>>343968189
>>343968239
I don't mean that there's not cryptic hints, just that it's really bizarre that no one ever interacts with him because it would obviously ruin the twist. It really feels like they were stretching too hard for a shocking twist.
Also >>343968350 and >>343968439
>>343968514
ZTD is the worst in the zero escape franchise, so don't think about it too much dude.

That was contrived as fuck.
So how did all of the charactersget back in their pods after being knocked out so the next group could wake up? Was it an army of robot Seans? Did a 124 year old man lug their dead weight bodies around?
>>343968965
>Was it an army of robot Seans?
yes
>>343968965
Literally directly shown in the gameIt's the Seans
>>343968965
Zero shows images on how it's actually an army of Seans doing the heavy lifting
>>343968760
How didDeltado all that shit at 124? Why did Junpei's hair and eyes change colour between games? Why didn't Delta use his mind reading, time travel machine, seemingly limitless wealth and resources, clone army of assassins, and cult dedicated to him, to try to figure out who the killer was instead of getting six random assholes to do it?How come Sigma says thatPhi/Deltaare the first two people he's ever loved unconditionally when they're his 3rd and 4th children, do Kyle and Luna just not matter to him?Fucking aliens, really?
>>343968965Presumably all of the backup Seans. When Carlos gets attacked, it doesn't seem like it was the "Sean" we saw throughout the game, so it's likely there were more than one active in order to keep the game going.

>>343968816
And yet Junpei and Seven found it within a year. I seriously doubt that those two are capable of finding it on their own and destroying it together.
And if that's the case, then why did Crash Keys not do anything to help them? If Akane's goal was to ensure that FtS does not release Radical-6while not knowing of Delta's true plans, wouldn't you think that it would be in her best interests to help the two out?
I'm getting this for my birthday in 2 weeks, currently replaying VLR to refresh my memory. How disappointed am I going to be with ZTD? I have heard that there are lots of unresolved questions. I am still hyped to play it though.

More likely it was a combination of shoddy policework, incompetence, and a general disbelief that a child would do such a thing in cold blood. And given Akane's general personality (not in ZTD) it's likely her father had some Machiavellian thing going on too--making him look more suspicious.
Am I the only one saddened by the lack of this fantastic gentleman?

It's more likely that in that case Akane's father was so fucking suspicious they just went with him as the culprit and called it a day

>>343971269

that has literally never been the case
I actually liked it. Here's my two cents on it:I'll start at the very end scene first. The game ended on a note that resolved the conflict, but left some ambiguity in the true fashion of the series. The ambiguity left is open to interpretation, and not really something crazy like VLR teasing the events of this game. It's a satisfying ending because it completed the goal we wanted. We knew from the start ZTD was going to be a "journey is more important than the inn" type of game, and that held true. The game was tense, story was well told, and the twists were unexpected and great. Some of them may have been predictable by dropped hints (For instance, I figured out fairly quickly that either Phi and Diana had that "looks up to her as a mother figure" trope, or Diana was actually her mother somehow). The Delta twist was particularly interesting mainly because it seemed like an ass pull at first, but if you think about it and go back and look, you can tell it isn't. There are plenty of scenes in Q-Team where you can see the shadow from the chair. They never refer to Sean as Q, and Eric and Mira were always like "Who is this kid and why is he here?", like they were surprised he was even there at all. Eric, while not a likeable character nor intended to be, was portrayed well. He was a mentally unstable paranoid man that had an obsession with Mira. He goes off spouting things like "Mira is my angel", which sounds like something you would read here on /v/ about Rosalina. With Mira's behavior, you could tell their relationship wasn't exactly healthy for Eric, and Mira was taking advantage of something, but it was difficult to say what until the reveal of her being the Heart Ripper.
For those that think "mind hacking", was a total ass pull, I direct you to this:

Surprise surprise, the justice system isn't exactly fair.
This was brought up in the game. The DNA test or whatever used in the original trial was flawed and used for the conviction. Afterwards, when the damage was done, a new/better test emerged proving his innocence.
Just like lie detectors, they don't fucking work but some in the field swear by them (if only for the mental anxiety they cause).

Probably. It's just that I'm mostly surprised that he still puts up with her presence, given how he complains all throughout ZTD about how the Akane that she knew from when they were kids and the Akane that is in front of her are two completely different people.

Not the same anon, but even though it might be a stretch to think that Uchi dropped that plot point in order to cater the newcomers, we shouldn't forget that he basically brushed off major plot points from the two previous games. When characters discussed the evemts and the aftermath of 999/ZTD, Uchi used a fuckton of subtle hints in the dialogue instead of getting straight-to-the-point, which was honestly one of the things I fucking hated about the game.

Did you just skip through Sigma's dialogues?
He created Luna, Kyle, Lagomorph and everything else because he was lonely old man.
He created them expecting to be loved in return, is not that he didn't care for them, which he did, and a lot since in this very game there's a Timeline he mourns not being able to create them as he was about to die.
Anyway, since Sigma created them, expecting something out of them, that is love, it could never be uncoditional.

I would have been fine with Brother being literally anyone as long as they kept him consistent with what we knew from VLR, and tied it properly into 999. The reasonDeltakills her is so that Eric finds the corpse and goes on his shotgun rampage, eventually sendingCarlosonto the next portion of his esper adventure whileSeanis forced to rememberthat he is in fact a robot.Mirais basically used to clean up or trigger game overs, and further along Eric's mental instability.
>>343974268
I believe, in the original plot (or maybe still in this one, just unsaid) that Mira was meant to be a member of FTS, and sort of an analog of Ace. Both were villains who were betrayed by the genetic limitations of their brains, and would have related to FTS's message of removing the consciousness from the imperfect body. It would have also fit the theme of moral agency: was Mira really morally responsible if she had a psychological deformity?

Then I had to cheat and look it up because I couldn't figure out where the fuck you were actually supposed to input the password and I didn't realize you could click on the nucleus.
I don't get why people are complaining about the transport room "math problems"
If they are referring to the purple symbols floating in air, Sigma and Diana straight out tell you the answer when you click them
If they are referring to convert that numbero to a 4 digit number, there was that spin thing that told you the answer
Honestly, what was the math problem here? The thing i got stuck on was that i didn't know i had to click on the pillar and spent a year pondering on what to do

Not the acid, the first vote where everyone spreads out their picks. If you didn't see three different death scenes from them, go back and keep redoing the vote until you do. Even though I voted both ways with each team, it still didn't trigger the death scenes for some reason and I had to go back and redo them.
>>343977643
Who?
You mean M, the high school protagonist who almost gets it on with his mother?
When Akane was talking about Back to the Future it made me think. They were saying that when the different histories change place that one of them is left with a shitty end. Why assume it becomes a shitty end?
For example in Akanes example she said M2 stops his dad from punching Biff. What if M2's father was an abusive drunk and it all lead back to that punch? If the two Martys change places, maybe the poor goofy submissive dad is far more desirable to Marty 2? On the flip side, who says the two universes stay the same? Maybe for M2 it's not just simply poor Martys home, but maybe a happy poor family? Middle class family?
In relation to Zero Escape, maybe every time they shift the outcomes aren't what they thought they'd be for the ones that get shifted into? Example: Carlos in the pod transporter room being shot by Carlos. Maybe the Carlos that gets pulled into that body does so in time to stop Carlos from pulling the trigger, or Sigma is able to stop him beforehand?
Why assume that the shitted into people go through the exact same things? I mean the point of shifting is to change outcomes. Perhaps even the supposed bad outcomes like Carlos being shot in the pod room can change.

>>343977643

Young Sigma came back to April 13, 2029 in the VLR end timeline, the one where C team was executed, D team escaped, and Junpei, Akane, and Carlos arrived via transporter. He will then become old Sigma, travel back to participate in Dcom, and from there splits off. I feel ZTD was a great game with an underwhelming ending. Surprised so many people think it was bad here. I thought it could have been a lot better by adding more scenes, covering a few plot holes, going back once or twice to show things (like akane at the FTS rally) , epilogue scenes, etc. There is a solid framework for the ending there, we just got a bare bones version of it. So when Delta shot Gab, did anyone else realize that he probably did it as his own strange sense of mercy? Like when he was talking about Gab not having that much time life, I got the feeling he was also talking about himself there too.

This still image has better animation than the scene where Junpei is held back in ZTD
>>343980654
Only Clover does.
It's weird seeing so many people giddily talking about this game. I fucking hated it and was bored to tears the majority of the time. The ending was alright but holy shit do the characters in this game suck shift.
>>343980674
Klint
>>343980697
Fuck no, he shot Gab just because then they couldn't have shifted to "before he shot Gab" 'cause they couldn't know when it happened
>>343980619
Yeah, I'm with you. The individual fragments were all interesting on their own. Some of the puzzles I could go without, but the decisions and murder and shit was fun. Once everyone started shifting and transporting and shit like that, it was really great seeing things come together. Then the ending just kind of fell flat.
>>343980793
No, they both joined. Clover was transmitting information back to Snake during her infiltration.
>>343975962
Zero, in full costume, is a participant and has no idea why he's there
>>343980421
Screncapped this for future use
>tfw a bunch of anons had a better idea than the main writer of the series
>>343980823
Gab was going to be fucked no matter what they did. In that ending, Gab can't shift. He was going to get nuked along with the poor saps that they were swapping with.
>>343980814
>suck shift
heh
>>343980846
Same here
Then
>It's Q
>old man in wheelchair
>WHAT
>MIND HAKKU
>wut
>>343977531
Kek i read it in zero's voice
>>343981037
>Gab can't shift
Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if that ended up being the opposite
That scene where Sigma was lamenting the fact that he would never create Kyle or Lagomorph was weird because I never thought about Lagomorph as an actual thing worth caring about. Never really considered that, like Luna, he had an existence beyond just facilitating the AB game.
Why did they have to call it mind hacking?
>>343981301
cuz he haxxx ur mind
I'm surprised you only have a problem with the name when he literally said "I was born with the ability to read minds and I can also make anyone do anything I want but only for like 2 seconds lol"
That was some straight D-tier anime shit right there, like little kids on the playground making up hero powers bad.
>>343981201
I gues it was supposed to be a big reveal that in reality he was a really lonely old man
>>343981301
Brother wants to be trendy and cool like the rest of the kids playing his game. I'd prefer the term Mind Access but what's done is done
What do you think Delta's reactions were to seeing his parent's memories of hardcore fucking in the transporter pods?
What secrets would Delta reveal if he Mind HackedĀ® you? Be honest.
>>343981689
124yo boner
>>343981689
>why don't I have 18 inches
>>343981689
Considering he's probably encountered basement dwellers that masturbate to bara furries and vore, I doubt he's fazed much by regular sex.
Was anything revealed at the AX panel with regards to why Kyle's importance was seemingly forgotten? Or are we supposed to assume that the mindhack ability Delta has is somehow related to Kyle and ?

My love for Carlos
He better not tell him!
>>343981134
The old man wheelchair thing felt cheap for me (similar to Scott Shelby in that one scene in heavy rain where he does stuff you don't see that's vital to the point). There had to be more to show a person is with them the whole time. Triangle made me think that Q was active camo'ing with the walls or something instead of being In a chair.
Realizing that you see most of the game through him helps a bit but i feel it was just a underwhelming plot twist that is not emphasized enough (and I liked the sigma doesnt realize he has an old robot face twist)
>>343979390
2nd Carlos in every timeline prevents this
>>343982106
There are some pretty cool clues though. Like thestatus screen when Delta and Phi are born.as well ashis X-passes.
>>343982392
There are some cool clues, and it's a neat idea, but I feel like the execution just didn't quite work out.
>>343982028
He didn't give us an answer and I believe they were trying to discourage discussion about spoilers.
>>343982312
Are you saying he transported to every timeline at once?
>>343980280
I just went back and rewatched it, and it's not obvious at all. There'a a couple of quick shots where it looks like the characters might be looking at someone else when they're talking, but it's really subtle, and the final shot during the fade out shows a chain on the ground leading to a shadow that is presumably Q, but it's not clear. They spend the entire scene looming over Gab working on the chain, and Sean sits next to Gab as he talks when he goes back, possibly looking at Q when it normally looks like he's just staring off into space.
