Advent Rising is pretty good and cheap
Should I?If I should axe any, suggest replacements
What are some games I can get where I don't have to pay too much attention? I have a bunch of podcasts and audio-books to catch up on...
>>343677093
Need a chill multiplayer game.
Has to be easy since I'm playing with my gf.
Bought:
>Arkham Asylum
>Arkham City

>Jet Set Radio

>Cave Story+
>Electronic Super Joy
>Psychonauts
Refunded:
>Fez (boring)

Age of Decadence, Dragon's Dogma andVA-11 Hall-A

>>343678134
Dying Light, Endless Legend Complete, Environmental Station Alpha, and Besiege would be my vote

As someone who bought a fair amount of the things there
Only sniper elite seems worth it. Maybe dragons dogma if you haven't played it yet. Do know however there are still pop in issues for the game even though it's ported now.

Talos Principle
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Grim Fandango
Out of these games: what's actually good? Are these worth getting? Is Far Cry 3 actually good like all the normies raved about or is it just a boring triple AAA same game

Just pirate Ubisoft games so you don't have to use Uplay
Picked up Ethan Carter as well, haven't played it yet though
>Giana Sisters: Twisted Bundle
Are those games any good?
>>343678235
I've never played any of these games/10.

Personally I couldn't get into The Binding of Isaac. Maybe it's because I suck at KB movement though, haven't tried it with a controller yet.
>>343677890
There are quite a few Final Fantasy games on Steam now. I believe 3-9 are fairly cheap, though 5 and 6 are not recommended due to the graphics.
>>343678641
Just emulate 'em.
>>343679090
>Shantae
I'm assuming you like open/semi-open platformers. Check out Rabi-Ribi, a Metroidvania about a bunny turned bunny-girl and her fairy friend. Fair warning, the boss combat is basically bullet hell and quite hard even on Novice difficulty.
>>343679090
LISA, Axiom Verge
>>343677606
Afterbirth greatly improves the game and makes the Lost a good character. I have over 300 hours in this, one of the best dollar to hour ratio games I've bought.
>>343679090
Going of SOMA, Kholat and Solarix.
Why are games I want only -33% or -50% when they were -75% in the previous sales?
Is Steam going full jew from now on?
>>343679378
I really tend to avoid Ubisoft games but I have friends that say FC3 is good and obviously it's on steam
>>343680117
Still have to use Uplay though even if you buy it on steam. Just pirate it
>>343679491
The only way I can describe them is competent. Not as polished as Mario or something, just scratches an itch, but barely. You could probably find better games like that for a slightly higher price, like Rayman Origins/Legends.
>>343680114
Yes.
Because G2A exists now and abuses cheap prices on india level to sell games for 1-2 dollar each.
There will never be big discounts again because sites like that would abuse it.
Fairy Fencer f or Neptunia 1? only have time for one.

Steam has nothing to do with it; sale discounts are set by the publishers.

>>343680604
No. Steam only storebans you if you use a VPN on the store. Steam does not care if you activate keys from elsewhere. Even with a VPN. At worst you will need to start the VPN every time you want to launch your RU game.

Didnt you read the official describtion of the game?
>Combat difficulty is integrated into the setting. You can’t say that the world is harsh and unforgiving and then let the player kill everyone who looks at him or her funny. The game has to be hard, dying should be easy, and you should have reasons to pick your fights.
>You aren’t a powerful hero who can defeat anyone and save the world and it is the difficulty that reinforces this notion. Make the game easier and we’re back to the powerful hero setup. So unless you’re a natural born killer, watch what you say and think before you act or you’ll end up dead before you can blink.

Undertale is good if you have an itch for JPRG-likepower of friendshipplots. The bullet dodging gameplay is okay, but way too easy if you've ever played proper SHMUPs. The start is a bit slow with the shitty "ironic" humor, but there's some great boss fights and other moments later on.
>>343682770
It's true. I had to do it just to play Anno 2070. Neat game, but having to use Uplay as well is simply shit.

Stardew Valley is exactly what you'd expect it to be. If that's what you want, get it.
so i got all those summer sale trading cards and they expire tomorrow. I couldnt care less about the badge or my steam level so i decided to sell them, and i had to fucking confirm a notification email for a 7 cent sale

Is the Culling fun or is it just FOTM?
>Helldivers

Maybe South Park
Kind of sucks the cards will disappear, I liked their design.
>>343683180
stardew valley is a great game if you want control completely FUCKING RIPPED FROM YOUR HANDS FOR FUCKING CUTSCENES EVERY FIVE FUCKING MINUTES.
I want to slay goblins in a more or less open world, customize my character and get rich from the loot.
Like Dragon's Dogma, but without an overbearing plot and more dungeons. 3D or a pricetag isn't a must, I enjoy games like Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and Dwarf Fortress as well.
>>343683180
I was looking for a demo/shareware version of Doom to try out that it works on my system but I "accidentally" downloaded Doom, Doom II, Hexen, Hatred and some other shit and turns out the game doesnt really take more than few megabytes and runs flawlessly on zdoom so what I am saying hey dont throw your money into Steam just get it free.
>>343683171

also
>Being so poor/jew that you refund a game below $10
I honestly feel bad for you
Tell me about Ys games /v/, which are worth buying? Also are there any other action RPGs worth checking out on sale right now?
>>343683402
Invisible Inc. is fantastic. Think of the new XCOM, but with stealth. One of the best things I liked about it was that outside level and loot generation there's no randomness involved with the actual stealth and combat; guards act dependent on their routines and respond to your actions in certain ways, and all shots are 100% guaranteed hits on both sides.
I'd recommend the DLC as it increases the otherwise pretty short main campaign's length.
>>343683180
in system shock (2) you dont fight enemies, you fight the interface. It has cumbersome features like weapons falling apart after a dozen shots or endlessly spawning enemies if you trigger an alarm.
Without thick nostalgia goggles the game is not good

>>343684525
Try Terraria then? The 2D building isn't actually the game's main focus (though there is a shitton of vanity shit if you like it), there's different areas with a semi-linear gear progression, boss fights, notable loot that not only increases character stats but also enable you to traverse the environment better.

Gameplay mechanics wise straight improvement to Dragonfall. I also liked the party member a lot more, though the main story wasn't as engaging in my opinion. It's also much easier than Dragonfall (they axed Very Hard altogether).
>How does Valkyrie Chronicles run?
Perfectly fine. You can set the game to run 60FPS in the launcher options, though the pre-rendered cutscenes are obviously unaffected and jaggy like in the original console version.
Which one should I get, Deus EX HR or Alpha Protocol?

>>343686264

>>343679235
The Swapper is fantastic. Out of all of those, the only one I didn't like was Transistor. I just couldn't get into that game.
>>343686223
Alpha Protocol has shitton of choices that actually matter and change how missions play out, but gameplay wise it's not that stellar and quite unbalanced when it comes to character building. There's also forced non-stealthable boss fights, so keep that in mind.
Deus Ex HR is better gameplay wise (both combat and stealth), but there's really not that many meaningful choices.
>>343679235

Don't listen to /v/ about Dark Souls anything. Most of them are Bloodbornies.
Each game does a lot of good things and then does something spectacularly wrong. DS2 was soul memory, which limited who you would come in contact with. Since you're late to the party anyways, that doesn't really matter much anyways. It still offered the best customization of the 3, until eventually you just become a walking god who can do anything (but can still die to crafty mobs).

I know it's a tad late, but Refunct has so little gameplay that you can buy, play through the whole thing, then refund. If you want to do that, do that, otherwise it might be best just to not buy at all.
Why is it that when you refund a game you bought on a sale, that is not on sale anymore, you get the value the game was on a sale and not the actual value the game is currently? This always confused me.

People tend to shit on 3 for not having the 'same atmosphere' as 1/2 but it's a good builder regardless.
Kinda depends what you want, but OpenRCT should/might work with RCT2 which gives you more options and online play so that might be something to look at if you're into that.

Endless Legend's DLC isn't as mandatory as Civ V expansions, but they're good. And yes, there's less factions, but each of them are a lot more unique than the ones in Civ V.
Guardians: adds national and world wonders, global events and achievements (which give very notable bonuses), and super units
Shadows: adds espionage and new faction that focuses on it, in my opinion not that stellar due to espionage only being the most useful for the new faction and pretty ignoreable for other, the AI can't really use the stealth mechanics either
Echoes: just few new tracks and items, very minor changes
Lost Tales: another mini-DLC, very minor stuff
Shifters: reworks the winter mechanics making it less of a drag, and I really liked the new faction focused on exploration and exploiting the new winter mechanics. It's also the second faction that's geared towards playing tall
I'd suggest you at least got Guardians as it adds the biggest notable changes that affect all factions. Shifters is also okay, you can skip the others.

Jesus, I bet the person throws up after a few minutes
I pirated Morrowind a while ago and didn't play it much because the alt-tab system was fucked. Does the steam GOTY Morrowind version have alt-tab working without it CTD'ing?
divinity original sin enhanced
grim dawn
which one should I get?
>>343692652
Nah it'd have to be like 40 feet or something so I could pull it along the wall and be hidden. Lots of work to hide it. Simply cheaper to get a steam link(got a wall mount for internet next to the tv)
>>343690567
KiD is all stylenot that Im complaining
>>343695878
What's the better game for city management
Reminder to get lost planet 2 and Dead Rising 2 (off the record) if you like co-op. First game does have som GFWL setup to get through though.
The red faction series bundle is at a cracking 90% off and sub $5 dollars I think.
>>343679281
I played max payne 1 and 2 like 10 times through as a kid, is MP 3 as good as them, story and gameplay wise?
>still $35 for GTA V
>after the several delays taking over a year
>after the first release that was only for the consoles at the end of their generation
>after a year delay for the new consoles
>after making pc waiting two years after consoles
>not only has the price not dropped, but the discount isn't even 50%
Yeah, no. I've waited five years, I can wait another five.
>>343699079
Story and writing, no. Though there are some good lines in there. Gameplay, definitely
The cutscenes are notoriously long and annoying though, be aware of that
>>343696330
>>343699027
See this. Saints row 2 is good, but you'll need to mod it (see the reviews page). Resident Evil 5 and 6 are worth a shout, 6 in particular for the co-op.
>>343698489
You don't have to have a VR headset to play, dummy. It's just an option if you have one.
>>343680745
in my memory Oblivion is 10 times better, but in my memory Mafia 1 was amazing (I played it again after the Mafia 2 disappointment and it sucked even harder than Mafia 2)
>>343699079
It's shit.
>>343698536 here
Anyone?
>>343677675
Elite Dangerous
Euro/American Truck Simulator
>>343698939
Indeed, but i also recommend for him to not play anything else other than normal on the first run, the anything difficulty does is make enemies have more HP and do more damage.
>>343678023
worked fine for me a year ago
Is Left 4 dead 2 worth it a $3.99 considering that I intend to play solo ?
Is portal 2 worth it at $4.99 (never played the 1 either) ?
>>343699282
>>343699502
thanks, I was thinking about playing it only for the story, but I wont waste my time on it
>the only base building game that has cosmetic value is Fallout 4
why is this allowed? Every fuckin playthrough in Planetbase and Banished look the same
Is it worth buying the base game of Don't Starve for the DLCs (Ship#rekt specifically) if I already own Don't Starve Together?
>>343677675
I'm currently playing Factorio and mostly listening to MF DOOM. shit's cozy
>>343678134
Too many games. You won't even play half of these for more than 2 hours.
>>343677675
Darkest Dungeon because everything is dictated by RNG anyway
>>343699743
don't say that, I hate the story, but the I like the game for the gameplay. I think gameplay wise it's superior to MP2 and rivals the first game. The levels are cool and varied, the set pieces are sweet and it's got a fun arcade mode where you can try out fun things. Playing New York Minute hardcore is a mountain of fun desu
How is Icewind Dale?
>>343699906
Terraria
Any current games similar to this?
Bought HL Miami + HL Miami 2, Bastion, Transistor, Undertale and Civ V + DLC.|
Only $6 left. Torn between Payday 2 and Mount and Blade: Warband.
Which game between the two do you guys think is more fun and worth the buy?
(P.S: I fucking love me some Chivalry: MW, should I be more lenient to Mount and Blade Warband if I already enjoy Chivalry a lot? Or are they two completely different games?)
Comfy?
yes?
no?
if yes, how comfy?
>>343700316
Yes, very.I don't own the game but I read up on it a lot
What should I get from...
>Hard Reset Redux
>Crysis 1 Maximum
>Postal 2 Paradise Lost
>Mushihimesama Futari
>Ys Series
>Alien Isolation
>Advent Rising
I already got Recettear, System Shock EE, Talos Principle and South Park and am liking what I got so far, so I want to get some more hardcore action/brainy sort of games.
>>343700316
>Comfy?
Fuck yes
>if yes,how comfy?
Maximum comfy. It is ridiculously comfy and addicting
>>343692152
>>343692278
I love Maj'Eyal, but if you're unsure if proper roguelikes are the right genre for you: Maj'Eyal is a freeware game. The DLC cost money, the purchase on Steam is basically a token thank you and the Steam integration.
Base game is for free on the website. You could try it. Just be ready to spend an evening. Read the mouseover tooltips. Die 5342 times. And, most importantly, stick with a safe class. Dwarf Bulwark or Berserker, maybe Alchemist. Simple classes so that you can focus on the gameplay and less on character building (at the beginning).
>>343700293
Chiv and Turkroach Cavalry Autism simulator are completely different games, and the combat isn't similar either. I love both games though, get Warband
>>343700316
It's pretty good, but I would honestly just pirate it.Or emulate Harvest Moon/Rune Factory
>>343700202
I wouldn't say terraria has cosmetic value
also fuck that game because trying to build an aesthetic underground waterfall is a pain in the ass
>>343700257
you could just get a good arpg/dungeon crawler like Grim Dawn
>>343700316
Comfy if you realize the game is slow paced and you can't push yourself to do everything. You'll want to mostly focus on crops or animals or adventuring or fishing
>>343678134
subnautica grim dawn
Bought Ultimate Chicken Horse. Need more good local multiplayer games.
>>343696434
>Inquisitor
How playable is Inquisitor? I've been eyeing it, but the often negative reviews even by experienced RPG players are kind of off-putting.
what's the max level of the summer badge?
>>343700316
Seems to be the comfiest between all the harvest moon clones.
The sole reason why I won't get it is because I have a lot of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games on my backlog.
I've got like 15$ what should I buy for offline play? I need something to last me a long time, and enjoyable to play.
I need a COMFY game on linux guys please help. Prefferably around 10$ at most.
Games I already have, like and consider comfy: XCOM:EW, Civ5, FTL, Shadowruns.
Grim Dawn is pretty good (wouldn't have known it was crowd funded if nobody told me)
If I had any real complaints it's that it's drawing a little too much from Diablo 2 and I'd rather have more than 2 active skills
>>343700680
More than you can afford, pal.
>>343700760
I'd recommend the Don't Starve bundle personally.
>>343699079
it's a tough one
The story is easily forgettable and the way its told is god awful (Max's lines are still gold, but by the ending just get a bit annoying) also un-skippable cutscenes. But the gunplay, soundtrack and analog neonoir feels (Max truly hits rock bottom emotionally in this one) you're getting are pretty much worth it on sale.
>>343700425
Advent Rising is shitty and dated, don't get it unless you want to waste a buck
How is Borderlands TPS?
I loved first two games. I'm assuming it's more of the same?
I can get it for less than $10 by buying the bundle since I already have the first two games and all the DLC.
>>343700559
Lethal League
Nidhogg
Crawl
Worms Armageddon
Legend of Dungeon
>>343700178
ok thanks, I might actually try it out (after all, it's only 5 dollars).
I really don't understand why I haven't played it earlier since I probably spent hundreds of hours on the first two
>>343700760
Here are some games with lots of replayablility that I can recommend: Civ5, FTL, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Endless Legend, Don't Starve(this one was a bit too dragged out for my taste), Sunless Sea(same problem as don't starve)
So far I have
Shadowrun Dragonfall
Last Word
Fable Anniversary
any general recommendations I have a lot of free time coming up.
I bought DayZ, played for 80 minutes and only encountered like 3 zombies on a 50 people server.
Is this always like that or I was unlucky? I used to play some Unturned with friends and all fun came from fucking with other players and killing zombies and looting shit. This time I play alone tho
Am I a jew if I refund cheapo indie games that I know I'm never going to play again?
I just refunded Shadowrun Dragonfall. It's only 3 bucks, but the UI was clunky, the combat was shallow as fuck (and doesn't get better according to my YT research), and most importantly the writing was shit.
The only interesting thing was the setting, but that's not going to get me to start up the game again, so I refunded.
I'd rather get another cheap indie game that's going to be fun for a couple of hours.
So, miser out of 10?
>>343701265
>Don't like a game
>Refund it
I don't see an issue here
>>343700950
Shit. Complete shit, even if you like the games.
Even if we ignore the horrible writing and the fact none of the characters ever stop reminding you how gay they are, the gameplay is shit. Unlike BL and BL2 you can't really go back and redo boss fights to farm cool new items and shit. It essentially killed any replay value beyond just redoing the story again. None of the fights are particularly memorable, and only three of the characters have interesting playstyles and mechanics. The oxygen and "buttstomp" gimmick gets old quick, and the new vehicles are just as shitty as ever.
If you like BL and BL2they're decent enough gamesthen do yourself a favor and skip TPS and reinstall BL2.
Icewind Dale.
Yes?
No?

>>343683180
Napishtim is probably the worst Ys game on Steam, but if you have all the others it's not bad. Just expect a bit more grinding than Felghana.
>>343695750
Trails in the Sky and its sequel, Trails in the Sky SC.
There's also a third game coming out in English next year, so it's a good time to get into the series.
>>343683180
Doom 1 is 6$ in 2016? lmao
Someone sell me on One Way Heroics. I'm tempted, but I've heard mixed things between 'wow this is exactly what I'm looking for' and 'fuck that darkness shit why can't I have a normal roguelike'
new thread?
>>343701721
what's wrong with SMB?
>>343700763
FTL is a must, but not necessarily comfy. It's kinda tense actually.
I'd assume the same goes to XCOM. Don't know about shadowrun.
Civ 5 is a good choice, specially considering the crazy discount.
someone recommend me some games under 3$ since it's all the money i have left
>>343701830
yes
>>343701601
Classic? Sure, GoG has it cheap all the time. Enhanced? Don't bother. You can mod the original game to have all the same features Enhanced, except with Enhanced you won't be able to use any other mods.
The Beamdog EEs in general are pointless unless you really love Buzzfeed and epic Facebook memes. The Siege of Dragonspear expansion is particularly offensive to anyone with half a brain.
>>343701812
>ultimate doom
>doom 1
>>343678476
I'd consider adding 100% Orange Juice. It's not exactly an amazing game, but it can be pretty hilarious in multiplayer if you have friends. It's at least worth the two bucks they're asking for it.
>>343701385
>>343701719
Thanks. I kinda felt ridiculous because it was only 3 bucks, but I can spend them again and actually have fun, so there's that.
Dark Messiah is only 2,50 and I can kick people. Tempting.
Any of these worth it?
>>343701812
>>343683180
isn't doom 1 both free and open source? how the fuck are people paying 6 dollars for it?
>>343702030
ys is ok
>>343701960
oh please, it would need to bundle doom1, doom2 and final doom to even be worth 5$, shits been out for decades and should be public domain if they aren't going to slap a remaster tag on it.
>>343702103
No and no.
Like really, no.Not that it's stopped everyone on the planet from downloading a copy at some point in their life. And money just goes to Bethesda now anyway, fuck.
I have 8 dollars.
Recommend me something.
Is Bioshock Infinite good for $7.50?
>>343700760
Warband for SURE.
>>343702319
Seconding this. I've heard really good things but the jaunty graphics make me wary.

Momodora: Reverie under the moonlight. It doubles as either a Metroidvania or a 2D Soulslike depending on whether you play it on Normal or Hard.
New thread where
>>343702319
>>343702445
Just pirate it. There's no replay value whatsoever. It's just a handful of big setpieces connected by mediocre corridor shooting.
>>343702319
If you liked the other games - no, because it plays totally differently.
If the ending's been spoiled for you already, no - because plot is the main appeal.
If you're fresh - that's a good price, take it. Not exactly the most cohesive plot, but it's a good rollercoaster for about 10 hours.
Huh. Found a bundle for Metroidvania games.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/235210/
Is Dex any good?
>>343701825
It's a cheap and amazing game. Get PLUS if you can, but even the base game is really good. You have a lot of different classes, companions are pretty nice, fun combat that forces you to take on different strategies based on what your characters skills are (base game bard+2 companions+the training bracelet to level eveeryone up ridiculously was how I got to the end)
Ultimately It'll probably give you a good amount of time worth of fun for its usual low cost.
>>343702319
I basically have to agree with >>343702593
If you're spoiled, it's much less of a wild ride, since the gameplay is only somewhat above average.
>>343702576
>>343702593
>There's no replay value whatsoever. It's just a handful of big setpieces connected by mediocre corridor shooting.

Postmortem: Ready to Die: 50 cents
One way Heroics: 87 cents
>>343702593
I thought it was supposed to be a fun arcade shooter. Like running around flying everywhere on the rails. And yeah I've been spoiled so I guess I won't get it.
>>343702664
>Strider
Is it any good?
>>343702904
It's great. Tons of fun especially if you like Metroidvania types.
any interesting slightly obscure games like Sunless Sea, Stasis, 20XX, Running With Rifles, Lakeview Cabin Collection, Oxenfree?
>>343702891
It's a really good premise for a shooter - but the difficulty stomps all the fun.
On easy, it's dead simple. On hard - every enemy is either a total sponge or a head to pop open - because you're either going to use the good shit or get dead. But even with the good shit - the bigger enemies still just soak rounds like they were born for it.
Also seriouslyFuck that ghost section shit. It's like - have you bought up all the ammo? No? Then go fuck yourself with a trident you stupid cunt.
How is the darkness 2?
I really enjoyed 1 and want to know if 2 is worth playing.

Ys is the only good one. Styx is okay, but probably not 7,50 okay. Galak-Z is supposed to be a neat concept with a shitty execution.
The rest is crap to be honest.
>>343703436
I don't own an ipad/iphone.
>>343703419
What is that suppose to mean?
i made a new thread how do i link it.
Skip Risen 3, I'd say Pier Solar is not the same if you're not playing it on a Genny/Mega Drive or Dreamcast, and YS VI is a no-brainer, especially if you've tasted the series before (if not, replace your list with the other games). Have no idea about the rest.
>>343703298
At like $2 maybe - at the $8 it is now absolutely no way.
If you don't have mental issues you finish it in 3-4 hours. On hard. Plot is dumb as bricks, gunplay feels awful. Good for a romp (I got it out of a Humble Bundle) but not for actual amounts of money
