Gameplay-wise it's just like VLR. Conceptually, it doesn't make you start at the beginning of the flowchart and work your way down, but rather tears down the flowchart into a myriad fragments, lets you pick the order to play them in and as you complete each one, its placement into the overall flowchart is revealed, meaning you will end up doing parts that happen later in the story before others that happen earlier (justified in that the characters get memory-wiped at the end of each fragment).

In the true (payoff 2) timeline there is no need for Sigma to go to the moon, and there is no young Sigma training in the future to shift back to his body. Young sigma only comes back in the VLR timeline, in the true end of ZTD Old Sigma's consciousness will simply stay in 2029.
