He is 67 years old for the entirety of VLR. At the end of VLR, he has his consciousness sent back 45 years so he can create the VLR Nonary game, which returns his 67 year old self to the future.
Basically his 67 year old self participated in the Decision game, survived, then had his mind sent back to the future, after VLR.

We get to shoot Akane if we complete everything!
I finished 999 last week and VLR yesterday. Just correct me if Iam wrong:Okay in 999 with have only 1 timeline. This timeline is not changeable in anyway because in the true ending Junpei is helping Akane and therefore saving her. Without that the whole second nonary game could not have taken place and the whole universe collapses. Therefore it could never happen in any other way, the different endings we observe are different timelines that actually Akane observed when being mindlinked to Junpei. Right?
Now to VLR: We have the same concept of having only one timeline (which is why sigma when traveling back and discovering his robot arms must build the facility on the moon so that the timeline stays intact.
This whole thing is a setup though so that Sigma with all his experiences can take place in ZTD to create a PARALLEL universe in which radical 6 was not released. So that means Junpei, Quark and co are stuck in that parallel universe - except if Akane pulls some time travel shit she mentioned to Alice and Clover.
Did I get this right?
Oh also: Sigma already tried to create a parallel universe once and failed, because we (the player that is talking to Akane in the secret ending) wasn't helping him, right?

No there are multiple timelines in VLR. That's why K is kyle in some, but akane in others.
In 999 there is only one TRUE timeline, the others are just possibilities, but that's because uchikoshi was just doing telepathy in 999, and actually included the many worlds theory as a thing that exists in his writing in VLR. Now we have multiple timelines

1. Yeah, one central timeline. The other "timelines" are actually alternative possibilities that Akane sees, but it's only because of those alternate possibilities that she's able to live at all.
2. It's more complicated here. There's one "timeline" that's already happened, but every other timeline in the game are ones that actually did happen or could happen, that Sigma witnessed.

999 takes place in one general timeline. The other timelines that Akane died in couldn't exist once they reached the point that Junpei wouldn't be able to reach the incinerator, and so they more or less ceased to exist entirely. Every bad end ends up with the timeline, EXCEPT for the Safe ending.
VLR takes place over multiple alternate timelines. Every bad end ends up with that specific timeline continuing on, since there's no paradox that makes things blip out of existence.
Once you alter the new timelines with the help ofthe player, we'll have made a good timeline where shit hopefully doesn't go horribly wrong, but all the previous ones are still going on and are bad ends that still exist, just in an alternate plane.
Oh yeah, the Safe ending is an exception - Junpei's never LOCKED out of reaching the incinerator, but he'll likely never get to it. So the Akane in that timeline literally jumps out of that timeline to a different one, with her physical body.
So yeah, there ARE multiple timelines. Most of them continue to exist even after characters leave them. The only ones that stop existing are because they're paradox's out of existence.

Sprites are really hard to animate in a real time 3d environment, 3d models are much easier to move around and make look expressive. 999There are multiple timelines. Each of the different playthroughs are in fact different timelines. Akane can observe multiple timelines at once however, she can't exist in them the moment they miss their chance to save her, i.e. in the incinerator. To anyone who says there's only one timeline, reconsider the reason why you can't get the true ending first. You needed information from the timeline with the Safe Ending.
VLRVLR kicks it up 100 notches by introducing a gazillion and two different timelines that Sigma and Phi are actively jumping between and gathering information from, as opposed to the one time deal in 999. The reason for this is that they're training for ZTD to create a new timeline where the virus was contained and this training requires a life or death environment.
I wouldn't call this a parallel universe, the game specifically calls them different timelines. And this is one of the reasons why Tenmyouji was so angry with Akane. Remember the Biker analogy he talked about? Where there was a terrible crash that killed off 90% of the bikers yet the surviving 10% moved on to create fulfilling lives. Akane, Phi and Sigma are the ones going back in time to save the 90% of the bikers. Tenmyouji still has to live his life in that timeline. The one where 90% of the bikers died.
And yes, ZTD already happened, chronologically. That's why we're playing the game, to help Sigma and Phi get the timeline they want.

The button is to release Radical-6.
You get it on Diana's route. If you press it, you lead the way to VLR, making everyone contract Radical-6.
If you DON'T press it, you don't cause everyone on the planet to contract Radical-6, and you get a trophy for not causing the end of the world.
There's another trophy that you get if you stop EVERYONE from pressing the button. Honestly though, Team C and Team D are in perfect agreement to not press the fucking button. Team Q though, has the fucking retarded Eric. Since he's a fucking dunce and wants to be infected with Radical 6 since he thinks he's infected with FBR, you have to decide how to stop him from pressing the button.

3DS has color and lighting. It also doesn't have those weird black lines under Diana's lips, and everything looks a lot smoother.
Sure the resolution is a little lower, but I'll take that over washed out colors, model glitches, and bad clipping any day (seriously, look at sigma's hand in the PC version).
