I remember second life. Ten or so years ago I tried to play it but I was young and didn't have any money and couldn't get a nice avatar. I was also a horny kid and luckily for me the game was full of stripclubs and fuck houses and the like so I went to one of them with a poorly put together female avatar. One of the times I was there I ended up letting some dude fucking me in the ass. He offered to be my sugar daddy and it sounded like a sweet deal at the time. He took me around places and bought me some nice bodies and clothes. Then he took me to his house. We took a ride on his yacht, we had sex of course. He offered me a place in his own land and I took it. Then he introduced me to his wife. He told me to tell her I was renting a room from them, but when she wasn't around we would have hot steamy sex. But then after a while it got too real so I logged out and never got back.
So yeah. I remember second life.
So, I haven't ever played Second Life, I just know it as some MMO-esque world where people RP/ERP/troll creepy people all day. I have fucking nothing to do ever all of my freetime though, so is this worth looking into?

Sign up at the website and download a viewer. The viewer is the game. After messing around for a little while and getting used to it you need to check out some of the stuff on the marketplace and get a general idea of how you want to look. Most people wont give you the time of day if you use the default avatar.

You'll want the Kemono body and you'll need to adjust it a bit if you want that. A lot of people seem to have a problem with kemono faces, I love them but I do find them sickening if you use human skin with them. Fortunately there are human heads that go with that body.

People typically use M3 anime head on kemono body or avatar 2.0 body for their anime avatars. There's thousands of pieces of clothes for that body type so there's probably going to be something you like. Remember these names when you're browsing the marketplace. Also since there's thousands of modders making all sorts of shit there is no defined artstyles, it's whatever the modders are good enough to make.

Basically you have a default body with sliders that can look male or female. Then you can wear a skin which changes the texture. But you can also wear loads of attachments, including mesh attachments that completely replace your body or head.
Most human looking avatars use default heads (which look the most natural) and either default or mesh bodies. You can also wear a mesh head and yeah there are anime style heads. They'll just look kind of like masks and out of place compared to most other avatars.
The game supports just about anything though, all content is user created.

Kemono is made by one guy, then there's a multitude of skins for Kemono made by other people, sold separately. The skins on their own are fairly cheap though, but if you don't have the base kemono body you can't do anything with them.

You can't do it on the same account. You can make an 'outfit' which lets you easily switch from one avatar to another, but any people you meet will know its you. When you make friends with someone a calling card is saved to their inventory which has your profile info, so even if you change your name they'll know.
