I just played it three times.
First time I got the "I know who you are telephone call" because the first thing I did was investigate the chimney and then watched the video tape.
Second time I made it out the back door and got welcomed.
Third time I answered the phone without watching the tape.
What are the big developments that I've missed because I've been avoiding these threads?
I missed out on PT because I didn't get a PS4 until long after it was pulled so Capcom's Ghostly Ruse Cruise is my first.

He is believed to have died in some kind of accident during a transfer by Marine Corps MPs.
The bodies seemed to have been eaten by beast-like creatures, with considerable damage.
The next day, I went to the scene to recover the bodies, but found they were all gone. Though it's only a guess, I'm afraid they may have turned into Zombies and moved elsewhere.
The military is demanding the transfer of 2nd Lieutenant Coen's body, but for the above-mentioned reason, securing the corpse will be extremely difficult. Therefore, I'd like to put the investigation of this case on hold.

Q: Yes, Resident Evil has always been survival horror, absolutely. But 4, 5, and 6 definitely pivoted. You could finish the game as a survival horror game and then return and play through again with new weapons, infinite ammo. Turn it into an action game.

The only thing I got from it was that the family was possibly infected by some sort of mutation that the parents tried to keep secret from their town. Umbrella tried to monitor them for a while and a bunch of TV show goobers get murdered (except for possibly the cameraman).
There's very little for me to interpret outside of that, so it just doesn't feel very interesting to me. A cynical part of me believes that Capcom is going to try to be "clever" by patching in more secrets over the next few months.

We know sounds are still played during the VHS World segment if you turn down your audio settings to 0-0-0. This certainly haa to have some meaning, and people have been doing everything from reversing the audio to doing the PT mic thing.
But have we been considering just WHY there is audio when we mute the game in the VHS World?
The most logical answer would be "because what's been muted is the television set the character is watching; we're hearing what he's hearing around the house".
We also know someone leaves the protagonist the altered "stones" note, and people have been suggesting maybe quitting the VHS at the right time to "catch" the culprit (although the note could well be an hallucination, let's assume for now it isn't).
So I propose playing the VHS in a fresh run, going upstairs, turning the audio settings to 0-0-0 once the ear protectors are in sight, and keep an ear open for any suspicious audio cues.
I believe that if there is another ending, it has to be obtuse, but not obtuse enough to require people to go out of the game and reverse the audio or something.
