What would you like it to be about?
I would really like a DMC with Sparda in the spotlight. How he was a badass demon general, then how he had a change of heart, rising up against Mundus, and sealin the demon world.
Of course that might require more writing that the writers are used to.
Or a game that explains Nero properly, not just fan theories, and separate interviews. Altough if I had to choose between that and the game including Vergil, I'd pick the latter without hesitation.

Nah, original DMC went to shit with 4 in all aspects accept Dante's instant Style Switching. While DMC4:SE was a nice thing, it still failed to make me excited for a future DMC game knowing Nero is going to probably be the focus again.

The only thing Itsuno mentioned after 4SE's launch was how he considered giving Lady a spin-off and the possibility of co-op in the series. He even mentioned the Doppel trick on the PS2 where the second player can pick up the clone.
Like I said before, they don't have their own engine anymore and will most likely have to go with UE4. We're not going to see any LDK mode, but I hope we can have more than 5 enemies on screen.

Anyways, they're alike but not really. Donte was an smug annoying asshole, Nero was just cocky and rebellious, kinda like young Dante but less goofy. Nero, while not caring about things like the saviour and religion (that's where his rebellion comes from), her cared about protecting the people close to him. Donte didn't cared about anything or anyone but himself until he met Kat, before that we assume he was a trouble kid.
Nero was the rookie in DMC4. He might have tried to act like he was above everyone else, but he inevitably got outskilled by Dante, and others thought of him as just a kid. Donte was just the dumb brute guy that was used by others to do their hard work.

It sort of depends on what they do I guess. Vergil is arguably a lot more interesting than Dante, since he has massively more conflict with every single cast member than Dante himself. You could justify a boss fight with or as him with all four of the main characters no problem.
In particular I hope he has something with Trish.

dante's antics in dmc3 worked because he's always made the joke at the end of every cutscene. He does something cool but then vergil/lady/a space whale makes him look like kind of a dumbass.
Like, the very first scene with dante beating up the hell prides in the office in all sorts of comically over the top ways ends with his pizza getting ruined and him wrecking his own store to the point it's turned to rubble.
dmc4, being a bad and blatantly unfinished game doesn't have anything like this. instead at the end of showing off nero just angsts about his girlfriend and dante makes a smug face both of which are annoying as hell

If it wasn't for Nero I would have dropped DMC4 and just re-played 3. Nero is DMC1 Dante with Vergil confidence and in a game where they turned Dante from the inventore of cool, to a man child, it was DESPERATELY needed. He has his moments but far too often he's just a complete child. Seeing DMC1 Dante, who I thought was the coolest fucking thing since the cold side of the pillow, turn into back into his teenage self for no good reason was painful. It worked wonders in DMC3, it doesn't work in DMC4. Thankfully Nero was there to balance out having fun and being chilled as fuck.

The whole point of this bit though is so dante can go "actually i'm fine lol =)" after nero calms down and show how shit nero is compared to dante. Compare that in DMC3 where the beowulf fight ends with dante slammed into the fucking ground with a massive crater while he escapes

The difference is that these aren't dante being made the joke, he's MAKING a joke and doing something silly.
Dante getting eaten by a space whale, or wrecking his store, or blowing up the motorcycle or even getting rejected by lady are all things dante didn't expect to happen and it makes him look way less like someones self insert fanfiction character that can do no wrong.

The charge buster is always going to be the most versatile weapon in any X game, but weapons like rising fire and ground hunter were good. Even weapons like aiming laser, frost tower, and lightning web had their uses at times, even if it wasn't for the sole purpose of inflicting damage.

DMC2 Dante was kind of an improvement, if only in that he didn't make me want to soak my head in cold water. The problem was he was entirely boring and never really reacted to anything, so in a way, he was actually worse.
DMC3 Dante was great. I liked how they dropped all pretenses and didn't bother having him take himself too seriously. He was fun, witty and also actually had decent writing/voice acting for once. DMC4 Dante's basically an extension of that, only older, more mature and less saddled by baggage.

THIS pretty much. People are celebrating and jizzing prematurely. Nothing is confirmed until an official statement and trailer. Even then there's a chance that the entire thing can be either axed like ML3 or Last Guardian'd vaporware.
