All right, no more advertising. This game is shit. I fucking hate it. How could I dare share stuff about this game on a video games board. Seriously. God forbid I want to enjoy anticipation for an upcoming release.

Niggas are in the new battlefield because it's histoically accurate.

Overwatch is shit because it's trying to blanket pander to the lowest common denomination.

Stellaris is shit because it's spent a week hyping the game in the worst way possible, with a dirty looking honkey with fucking rastafarian hair, and some other awkard little bastard.

Instead of just giving the less spergy of youtube "let players" access to the fucking game. Or hell releasing a demo.

>Mfw some retard beckons the raw WARP into our plane of existence.

>>336848230
the keyword here is fanatic, the early muslims never contracted a single alliance and literally stomped all in their way until they were stomped

Enslaving is no problem, but purging alien life seems to bring harsh diplomacy penalties, even inside your own empire. Seems vassalage and delegation is the better option, maybe lategame you can start the holocaust, if you make sure none can interfere.

There are AI empires who won't like that because of their ideology.

Also some Fallen Empires are absolutely against purging/slavery and will fuck you up.
>>
>>336851558

puring is an option, but there are fallen empires, that basically start with maxed out tech. and there is one confirmed fallen empire that condemns purging. your neighbors might not care, but if you are in the vicinity of the fallen empire, you might not be able to purge at all.

pic unrelated, that's a galactic menace unleashed by being to greedy.

I don't think they might early game, but late game they very well could. As you grow, you delegate control. You control maybe 5-7 worlds yourself, the rest is given to governors. Your own people in these more and more distant worlds will diverge from your ethics, and may very well revolt against you.

Not many pre-release players have reached that late-game stage yet, but the mechanics are there. You can replace your population with robots/genetically modify them etc and this all brings risks, not much is known as of yet.

A good blend of Grand Strategy and 4x games with race creation, in game missions and neat interactions with various types of aliens like uplifting or reptillian'ing their world leaders to make them your vassal.

Obvious flaws I see is that going by the lets plays I have watched, a lot of the missions repeat (mining drones, space whales, space amoebas) and each empire doesn't not feel particularly unique apart from a few ethics-only techs.
>>
>>336856838

>>
>>336857149

I think the empires will be more defined by the tech paths they chose, and whether or not they participate in key activities like robotics, AI, gene mods and so on. Mission variety is an issue currently, but the devs already said that the common questlines (amoebas, drones etc) can take branching paths and lead to complete different outcomes. Hope they add more, though.

I would expect mods will add more quests as well.

Only a few autists buy them, as you can use pirated DLCs with legit game copy. And I think they are well aware of the fact and that is why they don't enforce a serious defense against piracy.
>>
>>336857805

You can alter everything. All traits like Decadent, Weak, Strong and so on, can and probably will change, because each pop can develop their own traits. You might want to purge/migrate population with weaker traits or with traits that don't fit your ideology, but your "species" will evolve the more you grow.

Furthermore it by no means makes it impossible, just that your culture is less willing to play second fiddle in any arrangement and that peaceful empires are more wary of any promise of peace with an overly aggressive neighbor.

So what's the verdict, /v/? Good game? Worth the price?

During the MP livestream I suggested the idea of a season pass (if PDX is adamant on doling out hundreds of minor DLC) to encourage people to buy them and save money, compared to buying every one individually, the responses were gold.

>season passes are untenable and wouldn't make enough money for Paradox
>I see buying all the DLC is like tipping the devs for their hard work

Paradox fans are utter cancer.

Paradox actual expansion DLC tend to be good though (leaving aside the most recent one for CK2 but that's the first bad one I remember in a long time) and I'm not concerned about the minor or cosmetic stuff since who gives a shit about that.

/gsg/ is essentially a paradox general and perhaps 30% of each thread is just shitting on Paradox for a multipltude of reasons.
>>

It's pretty ironic that /gsg/ attempts to derail every Stellaris thread (which they accuse of being shill threads) by shilling for Distant Worlds.

>>
>>336859003
We're still able to see just about every aspect of the game for ourselves. It's not like anything is really being hidden from us.
>>
Hopefully you can still pirate all the DLC with a legit copy of the game like Paradox's other releases. I'm not going to be buying their super weapon DLC and bird man DLC for $1.99 each.
>>
>>336858480
Well, that's the thing. Paradox has in mind in its marketing scheme both the average guy that buys only the base games and maybe the major expansions and the autistic parabots that buy all their overpriced shit.

I truly believe that they are well aware of the positives of piracy, even if they make official statements against.

What would a game like CKII be like without all the shit added in expansions(esp. the fluff like in Way of Life)? Except newcomers to their franchises, most people buy their base games in expectation of DLC expansion and improvements.

So as long as they don't shoot themselves in the foot with a strict anti-piracy enforcement, it's best to adopt a live and let live attitude on our part instead of sperging out on /gsg/ about how greedy they are and how their games are shit(while sinking hours upon hours in them).
>>
Is this more like EU4 or Victoria 2?

Also, Crusader Kings in space when?
>>
>>336859071
In theory they are far more biased as the publisher gets to decide which youtubers get early access and should they portray the game in a negative light they won't get the next title and their channel will receive fewer viewers.

Retards aside, I think Paradox struck a good balance between their usual gsg and 4x. When companies try to mix different genres, they usually end up with a mediocre, messy game(ex: Spellforce for RTS+RPG mix). Each of these gives you more edict options and changes your tech progression. Collectivist/individualist also affects how your people migrate which can give you ways to undermine other factions. This can result in a cultural victory of sorts if you have sympathetic factions of your species within other empires.

EU4 did not need sailors (little to no impact). It doesnt need corruption (I've literally never gotten above 1). It doesnt need estates (they do literally nothing for the costs involved). They should hire better voice actors, polish the graphics(with a proper character creator) and expand on the RPG with the quest choices and a properly fleshed out plot and setting.

You're assuming that the person in this image is telling the truth, of which we have no evidence. Furthermore, why does he keep babbling on about SR3? The support tech clearly stated that the issue was his bogus copy of Dead Island yet he keeps babbling on about it in what appears to me to be an attempt to just submit something in the hopes that the tech is retarded and un-suspends his account upon seeing a random CD key or that he is somehow making up for his fraud by buying a different game from the same publisher.

There is so many things to go over. I am not very good at the combat portion. When I do fight I have my fleet split up into different categories.

One set of ships will only be missile boats that are expendable.
Other set is ships with only boarding crew on them
Finally will be the heavy duty lasers and tough armor and shield boats.

I would start off with the easiest difficulty first because there is a lot of stuff you need to learn yourself. Each planet has three different types of production. Farming, production, and science.

Having tons of population on farming will make food, having most people in production will produce ships, buildings and earn money faster. Having more pops has scientists will increase your research speed which will unlock new tech quicker. That is the basics.

This will be my first race after I play through a human run to learn the game.

"The Foxon born to a world of harsh realities retreated to base psychological comforts. After a period of great unrest caused by the strongest of tribes praying upon its smaller weaker neighbors The Holy Union established itself as the sole dominant power. A scant 50 years later Foxon across the world started to receive broadcasts from space. Although completely unintelligible it sparked a great religious movement completely cementing the Union's place. After great study by the holy scholars the messages were broken. At first the people were shocked. What they all believed to be the word of god above were simple nothings from an alien species. The Union acted quickly and used the sudden uneasy to drive the people skyward. So what if the messages were not from god? They served their own purpose in showing the Foxon their place in the world. They would rise to the stars. They would meet these aliens that so greatly shaped their very existence. The Foxon lost a god but gained a new purpose and the purpose was to travel the stars them selves."

I'm hyped for this because I have an unquenchable boner for sci fi strategy games.

But I am on the fence about buying it because I've never been able to get into grand strategy games.

I have a 25% off from GOG that would make it 30 bucks, but damn.

You guys think this one might be a bit easier to ease into, or just not take the chance?

The early game is more typical 4x space exploration and expansion, the later game is more grand strategy, with lots of Federations forming to stop blobbers. It's basically EUIV in space with randomized Empires and territories rising up, so if you like that you'll probably like Stellaris.

I guess I can see it in the sense that it's basing it off of the whole fuck everyone else collectivist attitude but it doesn't really make sense if your population say, values life still, or wants to bring others into the fold not just exclude them for funskies.

Still, easy to dehumanize those not in your circle.

>>
>>336869940
Well collectivists are fine with you enslaving your own species as well, everything for the greater good, free will isn't important. It's not necessarily exclusive, xenophobes are the ones that get bonuses only for enslaving aliens.

perks dont have negatives though

ethos/governments do
>>
>>336861796
There is a cycle. Quality DLC that flushes out the game/probably should have been in the base game like muslims and pagans that eventually yields to extra horseshit for the sake of samifying the game with unnecessary shit that make it worse like councils and infamy.
>>336869926
I hate those jews and casualifiers, and I only started browsing /gsg/ a few months ago. Hated them already really.

underrated.

aviation as in army/marine helicopters.

I think Aviation is the aircraft-division of the ground forces. The guys who do all the day-to-day and basic operational shit, like flying troops to the front or ferrying supplies. They're more connected with ground forces since they interact a lot more and share a lot of the same missions.

Air Force is fighter jets and strategic bombers, guys who often don't do much but sit around waiting for the one time that month that they get to fly around and maybe drop a bomb if they feel like it.

I'm not mad, I'm impressed. A fool and his money are quickly parted, but whenever I try to shill for a game someone shoots me down when they see my list.

You can enslave your own race.
If you get a human pop that's not white send them to the mines.

BAZINGA

So the game releases at May the 9th at 12am?
But which 12am?

The continental European one or the American one?

Why is there no timer on Steam?
>>
>>336887058
Steam releases tend to be US Pacific.
>>
>>336878158
Now it just needs Sins combat and it'll be GOAT
>>
From what little I have seen of this game, this is what the final stage of Spore should have been.
>>
>>336887442
I searched around.

It will be 6:00am of an American time.

But I also find statements saying 0000 CET.

Don't know what to believe.
>>
>>336887650
In my experience with steam, just assume the worst.
>>
>>336887798
7pm GMT+1 seems the most likely since this is when all paradox games release.

It's not the choice of Valve but of the publisher when the game gets unlocked.
>>
>>336887650
>6:00am of an American time
West or east coast?

>>336887798
So release will be delayed by 3 days?
>>
It's always around 18.00 german/euro time
>>
>>336848325
It's not historically accurate at all

50,000,000 whites fought in this war

less than 300,000 blacks fought in the war

The main protagonist representing the game in all promotional material is a black man.

One of the most important wars in white european history is being represented by a nigger.

It doesn't make any fucking sense, and they admit as much saying they have an agenda to push and don't give a fuck about the reality of the war.

You just retarded
Blacks were the only americans who saw more or less real war back then
You can't have not american main protag, because euro market is small garbage
So, the only option to not be historically accurate or have black protagonist

They're not limited, you can manually mix and match whatever ship, city and whatever else design you want during empire creation.
>>
>AI factions can research game ending disasters
This is going to be super divisive. Its either going to be awesome as fuck as it forces you to coop with the rest of the galaxy to beat it, or fucking awful when your 200 hour game gets ruined by your 1 dumbfuck AI neighbour researching self aware AI/breaking space time/summoning infinite interdimensional aliens

Who playing victoria 2 now, while waiting for the stellaris release?

It's going to be pirateable almost the instant it gets released since Paradox' DRM is laughable anyway.
>>
>>336869220
You forgot the best part: Grey knights are already immune to the bloodtide's effects.
>>
>tfw 1% unhappiness for others don't sound too bad but the word repugnant just makes you not want to take it
>>
>>336888357
They're supposed to be endgame scenarios. Considering the typical 4X endgame (which is almost always the worst, most boring part of the game) anything that can challenge you at that point would be a welcome addition.
>>
>AI factions can research game ending disasters
Source? If this is true I am not buying it just because of this, in Civ 4 I always turned off other victory options besides conquest because it felt silly that a nation could win a game about war and politics through internal timers.
>>
>>336869750
Abaddon failing literally every campaign yet somehow still being warmaster.
>>
>>336888541
You can remove negative traits with genetic engineering later, just pick something that's not too much of a problem to deal with for a bit.
>>
>>336887943
The French under Napolean actually invented the Continental European Time (CET, GMT+1).
So German is not accurate even they use it too.

Laughable, hahahah" How low educated.

If this post ends in a number from 1-9 you have to give me the steam key to stellaris

Fuck this shit and I hopped I can play the whole night from 12am CET.

Now I will be able to play it only from Tuesday morning on....
Fucking night shift.

I'm so fucking angry I gonna beat up my 6 years old daughter with an Iron for the next 3 hours...

They don't work like win conditions anyway, they're just crazy strong AI factions that spawn and slowly take over the galaxy unless you stop them.

Just gotta keep track of the other factions and murder them ASAP if you catch them researching something dangerous.

Is there a legit torrent download yet?

I want to give the game a try but I don't get paid until the end of the week and £35 is a bit much for me to chuck away on a whim.

Why do people watch that idiot in the thousands? He's not a good player and not a good narrator. I guess his use of muh hotkeys is somewhat impressive.

it's not beyond the realm of possibility that a galactic empire could undergo some sort of dangerous change that puts its neighbours at risk too.

That's 1% per pop. If for example you got 10 Repugnants on a planet, all the other species there get a -10% happiness penalty.

Doesn't really matter if you go for one species per planet empire, of course. But there's also a diplomatic penalty that's not listed in that description.
