99% done with the game, just need to get past the final boss's final phase, fuck.
It was better than TD, but still meh. Level design is still much better in older games, with no boring and easy puzzle sections. It also felt like level designs were repeated a lot in the later levels and the nostalgia pandering was a bit too much (the second third and fourth bosses are just past bosses remixed?? though dedede was fun)
Final fight was hype though. It was all worth it for that face reveal

That was just a quick anime tie-in and one of neo-HAL's earliest games, not a restoration project. I'm sure they'd treat Kirby 64 with more respect and prestige if it was decided to take up the task of remaking it. They have plenty of old notes and such to guide them.
Maybe after that, they'd even get a better handle on the good old Shimomura atmosphere and creativity.
