I have. The battles and the overworld look reasonably interesting. Story and setting appear to be fitting for a JRPG.
Combined with reasonably well-animated cut-scenes I don't see what could go wrong - besides NoA/NoE ruining it.
Disclaimer: I have only played FE so far (like it, but generally not personal GOTY tier). Haven't touched a single Shin Megami Tensei (considering there have been complaints about the game being "too Persona" probably better that way).

They're scrambling and trying too hard but the problem is we (you and I, anyway) don't want what they're selling here as a result.

The NST developing staff can't even shit without their japanese directors and producers knowing about it, so I doubt the treehouse can literally do whatever they want and just release the game without informing headquarters of any and all changes
So they took a fantastic idea like a crossover between Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem and:
-Made a Persona-lite that has no way to romance characters like the Persona games
-Made it about the idol industry
-Bombed because it was too niche for even the niche audience
-Censored outfits because we- I mean western audiences totally hate stuff like sex and lewdness despite Game of Thrones and those weird kid pageants being popular and this is totally something the mainstream will be all over
-Kept the Japanese dub to be "true" to the original
-Redubbed some lines in said dub to be in line with the changed ages
-Completely changed the whole point of an entire dungeon that was supposed to be about how creepy a gravure photographer is
-Cancelled a DLC pack that had yet another dungeon
and didn't even bother translating what the characters are even saying during battle.
